Detroit sportswriter Addie Kessel was looking forward to the hockey season starting back up again, but all excitement flies out the window when she’s assigned to write a feature piece on the team’s new rookie, Tyler Jettersen.
Because Tyler’s older brother… is her ex-fiance.
After a bit of research, Addie finds that neither Jettersen brother has ever given anyone an interview in all the years they’ve been playing hockey.
No one knows their story.
No one besides Addie, that is.
The only problem– when Addie contacts Tyler for an interview, he says he’ll only do it under one condition…
She has to do the one thing she swore she’d never ever do again…
Talk to Casey Jettersen.
________
Casey Jettersen should’ve been living it up. He’s a veteran NHL player and one of the league's best defensemen.
But he can’t seem to get over the fact that he’s missing the one and only thing he ever wanted in life…
The one person who helped him get where he is today.
The person who’s currently calling him after a decade of silence.
As a former competitive figure skater, S.C. Kate grew up in rinks and loves them as settings for her contemporary sports romance stories. She lives in metro-Detroit and still frequents arenas to cheer on her siblings during hockey games.
When not writing, she is obsessed with outdoor skating, iced coffee, and traveling around Northern Michigan.
This book started out promising and I had decently high hopes for it but it very quickly went downhill. The buildup (first 50%) was the strongest part of the story and I eventually found myself skimming the last third as the writing style became tedious and began to feel increasingly immature. I wanted to love the characters but couldn’t really attach to any of them. Overall it was incredibly mediocre
Are they people or birds why is there so much chirping I don’t know my thoughts to be honest but this was a book yay There are no more books to read so I guess I’m done with this phase
Found this via bookstagram reel on my FYP and decided to give it a try! I thought it was very cute, although a bit predictable, and I did enjoy it! There were some errors where the wrong name was said in conversation, and other minor punctuation errors that normally don’t bother me but for some reason did this time (that’s a me problem). I also wasn’t a fan of how the chapters were set up ~aesthetically~ but again that’s a me problem LOL.
The story had a lot of potential, and I was rooting for Casey and Addie the entire time. I did enjoy this other than my me problems, and I loved the supporting characters. The family they created was endearing! So overall this was a quick and easy hockey and second chance romance where the guy will do anything for the girl!
At the 20% mark I noticed a familar writing style - and behold, I actually read a book of hers not even a couple days ago. The plot was still very much wattpatt but the author overall improved greatly in the year between the first and second! Cannot wait to see further improvement in the future!
I liked the idea the execution a little less. Half way through it I was honestly confused , a lot of plot points were left up in the air ( there is a whole chapter where they talk about when they tried to reconnect and that she told Kyle and a flashback of him and Kyle getting ready to visit the girls at college and then the chapter ended and no one spoke of it again because we were in the present day again)

Started off strong. Reminded me a bit of Wattpad but def had potential. By 60% it started going downhill drastically bc suddenly the FMC decided to do a 180 and giving the cold shoulder to the MC who’s been trying to be nothing but sweet and supportive (and this is after they sleep together and talk abt their past again).
By 85%, they are still not together. Time skips all over the place. Errors in the writing like wrong names being used. FMC gets home and sees MC and his brother fixing the BROKEN deadlock on her door and she legit picks up the screws to throw them in the garbage and says don’t do that, I’m independent, I don’t need you doing this. MC says the next girl who rents the place will be safer with a proper lock and FMC goes fuck no, stop it (that’s when she decided to throw the screws out 🙄 real mature). MC says it’s for him to feel safer then since he’s staying at her place to recover from surgery but she still says no. He’s still being sweet and supportive and at this point she’s just being a massive immature bitch.
The FMC wants to be a mom so bad but she lives in a rented apartment with a broken lock, shitty rooms, blinds with holes in them, etc etc. Like wtf? This is not a place where one would live to raise a child especially as a single mom who doesn’t even like her job. She never has food in her fridge either lol. How responsible.
Also bothered me that FMC says the MC never came after her when they were younger so she thought he was done with her. BITCH WTF 🤬!! She legit said “I hate you. I regret you. I want you gone. Never want to speak to you/see you again”. Not to mention MC had an abusive dad that killed his mom so he told her when they were young that if ever she felt he wasn’t good enough for her that she had to tell him and he’d leave. Well she did that pretty thoroughly then gets upset with him for not chasing after her like she didn’t just thoroughly rip him apart.
Started off good, ended up DNFing at 86% bc I just can’t anymore.

Normally I’m a hater of all second chance romances because I find them boring, but there was something about this one that was just really endearing. Addie and Casey’s bond was enviable. Even though they had a complicated past, they still obviously cared for each other. The lengths they went through to put each other first made me melt. They’re just so stinkin’ cute together.
Despite their cuteness, their backstory was a little predicable and the reason they stayed apart for so long was eye roll worthy. Communication folks. Try it! Luckily that didn’t impact my enjoyment. I still thought it was an adorable read and love a good happy ending. All in all, I love the themes of found family and the support system they have. It just felt like really cozy read and perfect for the season.
Highly recommend this entire series. It’s got a lot of great characters and I’ve had so much fun with every single couple. These two were a bit more serious than their predecessors, but I still really like it
LOVED the 5th book in this series so much! I've really enjoyed finding a new author who does such a fantastic job writing stories that keep you hooked. I found myself rooting for Addie and Casey the whole time and desperately wanting to know what drove them apart when they were young. A wonderful story and a must-read!!
Read if you like: 🏒hockey romance 🏒second chance romance 🏒happily ever after 🏒no third act breakup!
"He was so rugged, and wild, and mine. I loved when he pulled me into a hug, holding my lower back with his large, protective arms. I loved when I challenged him with sass and he’d tip his head back and laugh wryly at the sky, like he wasn’t cut out to handle me, but he’d try anyway, then he’d pull me in closer to him and I’d feel the scruff on his face as he kissed my forehead. It’s like he was made for me, and I was made for him."
I had my doubts at the beginning of the book, mainly because in the first chapters the book reminded me so much of Wattpad books. Because of the way the main characters describe certain things to names that are so overused in those mafia/middle school books because who calls a toddler Ryder and Knox.
It was good to see them trying to bring back each other's trust and being friends first before it went any further, but what made it less so was that there were only 5 where to really see what their relationship was like after they got back together.
Other than that, the book was enjoyable. The story line was good enough to create interest and has main characters that are fun to read about.
Gotta say this is the second most heartbreaking story in this series for me at least. I loved both main characters and their story . Their chemistry, their love that never stopped and the rekindling of that love. Prepare a box of tissues cause you'll need it! Their breakaway was sort of forced and alot of misunderstanding and no communication led to these two being apart for so long and lots of heartache for both parties! Amazing story with amazing characters and it's good to see the characters from the previous books again. Can't wait for the next book in the series
okay sorry what is with this author and tiny short girls 😭😭
i was so ready for this to be my favorite because their past was SO GOOD but it was resolved for quickly??😭😭
this book put me in a SLUMP. literally the only reason i finished it was because king of sloth came out and i refused to leave this unfinished before i started that
this book was cute but im just so over this author 😭 sorry that’s so mean i think her books are perfect if you want a superrrrr light read, but i need MORE to keep me intrigued
Loved to get to read this story. I also loved that the female MC was willing to move forward towards their dream on their own timeline regardless of a male partner. I liked that portrayal even though she gets her HEA in the end. And that he supported her chasing her dreams even if the child wasn’t his.
4.5 ⭐️ Another great ice league book. Second chance romance, which aren’t normally my favourite but these guys were really sweet together. Common theme in this series is it did feel a touch rushed, it’s always the part where they get together that is rushed and that’s what you want to read more about! Enjoyed the book either way, i hope the series continues.
This has been a cute series. At this point I’m just committed to finishing it but this book was sort of a dud for me. It lacked that gut wrenching emotion that she gave in some of her others and was way too predictable. Still a cute read, I was just a little bored reading through it.
* Thoughts: * forgot to write about this book lol. * I liked the character of Addie and she is a boss at the sports reporting game. For lost relationships, it is sweet to see them come back together. * I did really like Casey and Tyler’s brotherly relationship. Tyler’s meddling was so sweet. He looked up to Casey so much and that relationship made you want to read it.

I really enjoyed the Ice League series. I loved how each of their love stories were completely different. My biggest problem with this book in in particular was the miscommunication trope.. it’s my least favorite and I hate it. Still a great read though!! Trope: Hockey romance, miscommunication, grumpy/sunshine 🌶️: 2/5
I’m really enjoying S.C Kate’s books in The Ice League series, book 5 is no exception. I loved Casey and Addie was was cheering for Casey to win back his girl, especially glad Addie got her HEA.
Loved the book, I’m not a huge fan of a ton of the time jumps I would have liked them a lot more if the chapters when they were young were in the begging then it jumps to her getting the article. But all and all I loved the book
I loved the flash backs in this book that told of their pasts it was really well done. Nice little sports romance, fade to black scenes so not as spicy I my usual reads. But still well written. I actually love this whole series.
Wow!! I have loved every book in the ice league series!! I feel like I know and love all these characters! SC Kate is an amazing writer and I highly recommend reading this book and all the books in this series!
love love loved it i get more and more info this series with every book although i will admit some of the descriptions she uses are a little unrealistic in my opinion but others wise a great book and would defs recommend.
While the story was cute, parts of it felt rushed and some of the story felt borrowed from the other books. It was a little harder to stay focused with this one.
S.C Kate always has a sassy and strong Femail Main Character and Addie is no different. I loved the connection to Detroit and the lifestyle of the layers in the local bar. Loved the support from family for Casey and Addie.
Hate that the series is over I want no demand more I want to see how far this line of relationships go It was very cute and I love a second chance romance, though at times the packing felt a little clunky it was something I can look over and get through ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️
Overall series overview: every book was a cute read! Didn’t want to put them down. I did feel like the actual writing itself wasn’t great. I found a few errors in every book I read.
Also- there were a couple times when Claire’s name was mistakenly used for Addie’s name so that got confusing.
I enjoyed this one. It was a quick read (read in a single evening) and I’m glad I picked it up. The reason they broke up in the first place felt not enough at first, but I also realize that humans are bizarre and messy and even simple things become huge deals when we’re in a high emotional state (which Adelina was very much in after what had just happened to her.) This was an easy 5 stars for me because I wanted to keep reading. Never once was I bored, and when I finished I had the classic sigh of contentment when everything was said and done. No regrets that I spent my afternoon reading Casey and Adelina’s story!
Ben bu kadının yazdığı her şeye beş yıldız veriyordum fakat buna veremedim yarın yüksek ihtimalle serinin son kitabını okurum belki tekrar bir buna bakarım. Yazdığı şeyi atmosferi bilen insan farklı oluyor ama her daim ⛸️🏒
