Fascinating little collection of various types of folklore in Kansas homes a century ago. Having lived in Kansas for most of my adult life, so many of these legends, fables, sayings, and the like were unknown to me. Books like this are so very important, because they record a Kansas that has not existed now for generations and would be wholly lost without those who took the time to speak to the elderly from over 60 years ago and record what they had to say.
The first two chapters that contain folktales and legends are the most Kansas centric and most interesting to a reader wanting information specific to Kansas. The remains chapters could very much be the same across the United States. I found myself wanting the first two chapters to have more stories and the remaining chapters to end.
