Phoebe Dashwood is a passionately committed vet who’s living the dream. She’s about to open her own small animal practice at her grandmother’s animal shelter, Puddleduck Farm in the New Forest.
Phoebe is helped by her two oldest friends. Her best friend Tori is a mix of hard-headed journalist and hopeless romantic, who thinks love will conquer all when she finds the right man!
Then there is Sam, Phoebe’s staunchest ally, whose integrity and selflessness mean he would do anything to make Phoebe happy, no matter what the cost to himself.
Very soon Phoebe discovers that fantasy and reality don’t quite match.
An unscrupulous bunny breeder, a poisoned stream, and a complicated attraction all conspire to throw her dreams in a spin.
Events come to a shocking climax at the New Forest Show where Phoebe’s world is turned upside down and she has to make some life changing decisions.
Della Galton (aka Della Parker) writes novels set in Dorset, featuring quirky characters and very often a dog or two. She's had more than 2000 short stories published and she's run out of fingers to count her books on.
She is a popular speaker at writing conventions and the agony aunt for Writers' Forum Magazine.
When she is not writing she enjoys walking her dogs around the beautiful Dorset countryside and beaches.
A lighthearted, feel good story about a young vet, called Phoebe, who is starting her own Veterinary practice. After a broken relationship she has returned to her family property, Puddleduck Farm, where her vet's surgery is to be situated.
There is a love triangle which I dislike because someone always has to be the loser, but the story is good, the characters are likeable and there are many funny moments. Lots of cute animals too which is always a good thing.
I enjoyed my visit to Puddleduck Farm and will be happy to go there again in the future.
My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.
This is book two of five in the Puddleduck Farm series. This instalment sees Phoebe the main character realising her dream by opening her own small animal vet practice based at Maggie’s Animal shelter (her grandmother who will only answer to her Christian name as she hates the word ‘Gran’)
Now, Phoebe is just settling into her role when she comes across a bunny breeder who has no morals and after receiving a few cases in her surgery of poorly bred rabbits the plot thickens.
On top of that there are two men in her life who want her attention. One is a childhood friend the other is frosty to say the least but she is attracted to him.
Then a situation comes up when both men are in the same vicinity they are both going through their own troubles what will she do?….
I loved this one. It follows on from the first one so, you know all the characters. This was more about the new vets practice as well as the farm with all the animals. This book had all the elements, sadness, funny stories about the animals a little bit of menace and some romance thrown in. Perfect! My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
Continuing with the Puddleduck series, I once again really enjoyed this story from Galton. The story carries on straight on from the previous book and, whilst you could probably read this as a stand-alone, I think it works better to have an understanding of the developing love triangle that Galton includes.
I enjoyed the gentle nature of the novel and found I easily slipped into the narrative, watching how Phoebe’s new vet’s practice takes off. Striking out on her own, she is naturally incredibly nervous but the people of the New Forest embrace this new service. The lovable, the heart-wrenching and the quirky all make an appearance and I appreciated the mix of customers that Phoebe deals with; sometimes the owners are more difficult than the animals!
Yet it is not all rainbows and animal fluff. Phoebe and her grandmother discover wildlife is being impacted by a suspected poisoning of a stream that runs through their land. Forced to work with their landlord and, for Phoebe, a secret crush, they need to discover what is happening to the water that is causing the local wildlife to suffer. In addition, Phoebe also comes across a rabbit breeder who is not working ethically, raising awareness of the plight of bunnies that are bred for cuteness but not health.
This mix made for an interesting read and I liked how this was interspersed with Phoebe’s love life. At the end of the first book, there are a couple of potential suitors for Phoebe and I loved how Galton continues to keep this ambiguous for readers. Whilst Rufus is the dashing “lord of the manor”, Phoebe starts to realise she has strong feelings for childhood friend, Sam. Not only that, with her best friend encouraging her to attend the ‘New Forest Diners’, will Phoebe find a potential romantic connection here?
By the end of the story, there are some definite closures to Phoebe’s personal life and I am excited to see what happens to her next – both romantically and professionally. This book had a great mix of entertaining, tense and even sad scenes and it was a story I thoroughly enjoyed.
With thanks to Boldwood books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Welcome back to Puddleduck Farm, for our second visit to this idyllic setting in the New Forest.
Don’t panic if you haven't read its predecessor, Coming Home To Puddleduck Farm, Rainbows Over Puddleduck Farm can indeed be read as a standalone story. But… I would suggest reading the two books in order, purely because they are so flippin good!
As we return to Puddleduck Farm, Phoebe is busy with her new veterinary surgery. This really is a lifelong dream come true for her. However, things don’t run smoothly for long. Someone or something is polluting the local stream and there seems to be illegal rabbit breeding going on too. Can Phoebe get to the bottom of what’s going on and work out who is responsible?
There is also a bit of a love triangle simmering under the surface. Sam and Rufus both have their charms, but aren’t both Phoebe’s Mr Right.
Puddleduck Farm is a joy. There are oooodles of cute animals, that will make you want to rush off and buy your own small holding then fill it with every waif and stray from the animal kingdom you can find.
Phoebe has some beautiful friendships at Puddleduck Farm. Tori and Sam totally have her back. Not forgetting her feisty and fearless grandmother Maggie, who is a real kick ass pensioner.
The depth of research that Della Galton has put into this story is a real credit to her and is reflected in the quality of her writing.
Rainbows Over Puddleduck Farm is a delightful read. It’s a well thought out story that flows at a good pace.
I thoroughly enjoyed losing myself at Puddleduck Farm and look forward to more adventures there in the future.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
With thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood for a digital arc of this title.
Della is quickly becoming one of my favourite authors. Rainbows over Puddleduck Farm made me laugh, smile and rooting for the characters that I fell in love with during book one. Even though there is a time jump in this book it does make prefect sense.
The book opens just as Phoebe is about to open Puddleduck Vets, the place that has been a dream and a way of keeping her grandmother Maggie on the farm she loves so much. And what an opening it is - a ewe struggling with birthing, on her needs on the day her niece and nephew is about to get christened. Will she make it in time?
Everything is just fine until a posion stream, pushes Rufus and Phoebe together, whilst we watch as Sam tries to move on. I don't want to ruin this book for anyone but I loved how Phoebe and her friends/family fight against the horrid Belinda and her Burley Bunnies.
You can't help but want to know if Rufus manages to work more on his PTSD and listen to his therapist. We meet more characters to love. They are introduced in a way that you instantly fall in love with them like Marcus! You can feel the chemistry, the characters dancing on the page as you fall more in love with their world.
I can't wait, hopefully, to read more of this wonderful series! Thank you to Boldwood and Netgalley for giving.me access to the ARC.
What a lovely, cute feel good read, packed full of charming characters and adorable animals! This is the second book by this author I’ve read and they have both left me smiling!
There’s a lovely quality to the author’s writing that makes you feel very much at home and part of the community – and I was as excited as the story’s characters to be there for the opening of Phoebe’s vet surgery at Puddleduck Farm. A surprise visitor on the day is Rufus, the younger lord of the nearby manor – and, although she can’t see anything likely to develop between them, he certainly manages to get her a little hot under the collar. And they soon find themselves needing to work together – to identify the source of a pollutant, probably on his land, that’s killing the local wildlife.
Faithful Sam is, of course, still around – yearning for Phoebe from afar, despite his own promising new relationship. And there’s a whole cast of other characters familiar from the first book in the series (if you read it – and you certainly don’t have to, you could easily jump straight in) like Phoebe’s indefatigable grandmother Maggie, and reporter friend Tori. Maggie just can’t help herself being a touch unconventional in her dealings with the visitors to the surgery – you’d expect nothing else, and some of her interventions really made me laugh – and Tori certainly comes into her own when Phoebe finds far too many rabbits from a particularly unscrupulous breeder needing urgent life-saving attention. Oh, but while I’m mentioning things that made me laugh – you’re just going to love the running joke about Boris, and barn cat Saddam certainly has his moments too!
As well as all the animals and interactions with friends and family, I really enjoyed the romantic developments in this book too. Phoebe’s brush with the singles’ dining club reminded me of some similar excruciating experiences of my own – but at least she makes some useful professional contacts! But her love triangle with Sam (who she’s made quite clear will always be only a friend) and Rufus (so cool and distant he really can’t be interested – but then again…) was so well done – and no, I’m saying nothing more, you’ll really need to read the book. There’s some well-developed drama in this book too, centred on the long anticipated New Forest show – a real heart in mouth moment, as well as building nicely on the reasons we’re already aware of for Rufus’ apparent chilliness.
Della Galton is such an excellent story teller, perfectly balancing warmth and lightness with a few considerably heavier themes – and this book made me feel entirely invested in her very real characters, and keen to see where she takes things next. I very much enjoyed this one – and yes, highly recommended!
Having been introduced to this author when I read coming home to puddleduck farm I was excited to read the next instalment in this series rainbows over puddleduck farm to see how phoebe and the other inhabitants journey continued.
This could be read as a standalone if you haven’t read the previous instalment but I highly recommend reading the first one first for full enjoyment.
This was another brilliant escapism read which I read in one sitting on a wet Sunday afternoon and couldn’t put it down. Every character and every page exhumed charm and character and compassion and loved the way that everyone looked out for each other and the animals.
This book also covers a lot of issues that readers will find relatable such as ptsd and animal cruelty in a very sensitive and informative way.
This series would make a lovely cosy tv programme and I am eagerly anticipating the next instalment of This series.
Rainbows Over Puddleduck Farm is a charming, lighthearted story full of delightful characters and animals.
Rainbows Over Puddleduck Farm is the second book in this series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. Della does a great job at catching her readers up and ensuring that no one feels lost in this story. I enjoyed this book. I love a book that is bursting with quirky yet charming animals and that takes place in the English countryside. This book is great for those lazy afternoons when all you want to do is read. There are plenty of wonderful characters in this book that create this fun reading experience. Della creates characters you connect with instantly, and you find yourself rooting for them before you know it. I loved Maggie! She was a great secondary character. The scenes where she was Phoebe’s receptionist were hilarious and made me laugh.
One of the things that really stuck with me while reading this book was meeting Phoebe’s patients. We get to see pets, and their owners in various states, whether a new pet is getting a check-up or someone has to say their final goodbye to their furry best friend. I definitely was crying during this scene. As a pet owner, I just felt this connection with all these pet owners. I understood the joys pets could bring to our lives, but also the heartache. Including these side, stories added richness and depth to this book.
This story has a love triangle between Phoebe, Rufus, and Sam. I’m not a huge fan of love triangles; they just aren’t my jam. That meant the romance in this book wasn’t my favourite, but I think if you love this trope, you will enjoy the love story between Phoebe, Rufus, and Sam. Sam has been in love with Phoebe for a while, but she doesn’t return his feelings and only wants to be friends. So Sam is left trying to move on, but it’s a rocky road for him. Phoebe and Rufus both realize that there is this attraction between them, but they have emotional baggage that makes it difficult for them to make that first move.
Rainbows Over Puddleduck Farm is a heartwarming, nice, and easy read and perfect for fans who love those charming English romances.
When Phoebe opens a veterinary clinic on her grandmothers farm called puddle duck veterinary she is surprised to see her good-looking neighbor come to the opening with his son. Rufus is a good looking but socially awkward widow. Thankfully his son Archie is not. Her friends tease her about liking him and them having chemistry but Dr. Dashwood blows them off because it is just professional. Especially after his nine year old makes an appointment to get his guinea pig a health check up her name is the last a girl and he can’t wait for the doctor to meet her. She quickly forget about the handsome son of the Lord, at least for a little while her first patient is the rabbit Milo who is clearly from an unresponsible breeder. Her grand Maggie makes a note but when she sees another little rabbit who is too young to be away from its mother and has respiratory problems she wants to visit the breeder herself. After her and Roofus spend time together and share a kiss. When she doesn’t hear from him for over a month she doesn’t know what to think. Can Phoebe stop the breeder from making more sick rabbits and will Rufus get over being awkward long enough to tell her how he really feels? This book is another example of why I love BoldwoodBooks they have the best authors and it is a rare day that I give one of the authors a score less then five stars Rainbows Over Puddle Duck Farm by Della Gultin is certainly A great example. I love this book I love the great characters the animal talk the consciousness of caring for animals and bad breeders there’s just so much to love about this book not to mention the romance. I loved Rufus his son Maggie Phoebe… I just love this book. If you love feel good books you really need to read this book you not the disappointment I certainly loved it. I receive this book from NetGalley and Boldwood books but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
I received an advance review copy for free thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

My Opinion
This is the second book in a series but I feel that it would work well as a standalone. Everything about this book appealed to me, from the cover to the animal filled plot. Della Galton is a newish author to me but I really enjoy her writing style, so I am glad that I found her books.
This is a lovely, heart-warming read with a great pace. I was hooked and really struggled when I had to put the book down as I just wanted to keep on reading. Whilst I was reading this all I could think was that it would work well as a TV series or a film.
This is the 2nd book in this absolutely wonderful book set in the New Forest, a place I know pretty well having spent most of my school holidays there. It was nice reading about places I know and love, especially Burley and the tea rooms I've spent many an hour in.
This is a lovely series about new starts, animals and facing your fears, as well as standing up for your beliefs.
Phoebe left London after she found her fiancee had been cheating, she's a qualified Vet and decided to move home with the friends and family she loves. She's opening a practice on her Grandmother's farm where she spent many hors as a child, although the farm is now run as an animal sanctuary.
Rufus Holt is Phoebe's Grandmothers landlord and Phoebe has had a couple of run ins with him in the previous book. He has a Son Archie who loves animals, so gravitates towards Phoebe. Rufus is the Son of Lord Holt, although he doesn't always agree with his Father's views or practices.
Sam is one of Phoebe's best friends, although it's clear he wants more than that, but she's been clear with him she doesn't. Tori is also Phoebe's best friend, also from childhood.
Phoebe is worried about problems with a couple of rabbits she's seen, are they being bred illegally? There's also a potential problem with the stream which runs through both the field and which starts on Rufus's property.
Can Phoebe make a go of her new practice? Is there's a rogue bunny breeder locally selling rabbits with issues? Can Phoebe find someone to spend time with?
I loved this book and couldn't put it down, I hope there's more to come from Phoebe's story.
From the first couple of pages I felt right at home within the pages of this book, and by the end of it all i wanted to do was cuddle a whole of of bunnies, while hoping that this story will do a lot of good for what I have to assume is a real life problem with breeding bunnies for cosmetic preferences.
It's a practice I had no idea about and couldn't help but feel sorry for any bunny born to those sorts of breeders,
I promise there are a lot of well treated animals in the book, in fact the vast majority and some of which have visits to Phoebe's new vet practice. And there are some incredibly amusing appointments, including both involving pets called Boris.
I absolutely loved everything to do with this book, enjoyed getting to know Rufus a bit more, as well as Toni and Sam. Phoebe's one attempt at a dating evening was amusing, and this book really is more about animals and love of them, than about their humans.
Actually that's not strictly speaking true we get plenty of storylines for the humans too, and I thoroughly enjoyed them all, and was totally hooked by this book.I am just loving this author's writing and already can't wait to read more from her.
An incredibly good second book in this series, and I am so keen to see what will happen to Phoebe, her friends, family and furry friends in the future. Just don't make me wait too long.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
I was really looking forward to a return visit to Puddleduck Farm, and to catching up with Phoebe, Maggie, and the other characters. I was certainly not disappointed and am already looking forward to the next instalment. Since we last met her, Phoebe’s plans for opening her own vet practice in one of the farm's unused buildings have moved along well, and the book begins with a grand opening. Phoebe still has two would-be suitors, the reliable Sam, a friend since school, and Rufus, the enigmatic lord of the neighbouring manor. It’s still anyone’s guess who she will choose, but I did carry a hope from the first book. No spoilers! Della Galton creates wonderful characters and fully develops them to the point where you can vividly imagine them. From an unscrupulous bunny breeder to Maggie’s special friend, I had a clear picture in my mind. I really love Phoebe as a main character and think that her relationship with her best friend, Tori, is rather special. The dynamic between them speaks to their long connection and will withstand many of the bumps in life’s proverbial road. With plenty of appearances from the mischievous Neddies, Diablo the cat, and the Puddleducks, there’s no shortage of lovely animals. Watch out for Miss Connor and her Boris fixation, you are sure to get a few giggles from her visits. Everything about this book is simply marvellous and I can highly recommend an escape to Puddleduck Farm, it’s a gorgeous spot.
Phoebe is back and opening her veterinary practice. She encounters several issues. One of the issues is a bad breeder who is selling unhealthy rabbits. She also has some wildlife that is found dead near the stream on the property. The biggest issue is the men in her life. She really wants Rufus but Max has his eyes set on her. Opinion This is the second book in the Puddleduck Farm series. I would recommend you read the first book, Coming Home to Puddleduck Farm, before jumping into this one. This book reads at more of a leisurely pace than most books. The pressing issues are set to simmer instead of boil like most of my other reads. It gave for a nice change of pace. I thoroughly enjoyed this pace. I think my favorite part was seeing how her love life would work out. I expected to be left on a bit of a cliffhanger but right at the end, an accident happens and choices are made. Stick through the book, I hope you will enjoy that part as much as I did. I hope there are more Puddleduck Farm books to come as I've quite enjoyed these two. I only have one question. Being American, I certainly celebrate independence day. However the characters are in England and they made mention of it. I would think that England would be a sore loser in that they lost American soil. Can anyone clarify for me? Many thanks to Net Galley and to Boldwood Books for providing me with an ARC of this book.
Phoebe Dashwood is in the prime of her life! Not only is she a highly accomplished Veterinarian, but she is spreading her wings and opening her new practice Puddleduck Vets after only a year back in the New Forest. With all the work that running a small business entails, she doesn't have time for romance, even if best friend Tori has other ideas.
Rufus Holt, the son of Lord Holt who owns the land surrounding Puddleduck Farm, doesn't have time for romance either. Between raising his son Archie and managing his family's financial obligations, he has his hands full! Not to mention the constant flashbacks and grief over the accidental death of his wife Rowena several years before.
But the more time that Phoebe and Rufus spend together, they can't deny that they've each felt the sparks fly. Will either of them be brave enough to step out of the professional and into the personal?
This book is the second in the Puddleduck Farm series by Della Galton and can either be read as a stand alone or in series order. I really enjoyed the book and found that although the romance is light (no spice), the depth of story comes from the heavier themes she has included (PTSD, illegal dumping, improper breeding and animal cruelty).
Thank you again to author Della Galton, Boldwood Publishing and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book ahead of it's release on the 16th February 2023.
So lovely to return to Puddleduck Farm Where life is busy and rarely calm. Phoebe Dashwood is a vet opening her own practice now She just needs to get everything ready somehow!
With a terrorist cat and escape artists, too, There's plenty going on at her gran's animal rescue. With family and friends, new customers, too, There are plenty of surprises the whole story through.
A heartwarming story of fighting for what's right, Looking after animals, whatever their plight. Fun with owners who don't know a lot And romances for several are all in the plot.
Coping with PTSD, moving on from grief, Supporting family and friends, sharing relief, Finding ways to stop those who're being unkind And maybe someday romance to find.
Along the way there's laughter and support, too, Helping each other finding a way through. But get ready for a dramatic end And choices to make about with whom time to spend.
In the New Forest this delightful story is set And I hope there'll be others still to come yet. I really hope that for Sam there'll be true love found And I can't wait to catch up on the others who've been around.
For my complementary copy of this book, I say thank you, I highly recommend reading it and this is my honest review.
I remembered loving book 1 last summer, but I needed a few pages to fully get back into it when I started book 2 and then I loved every second of it. Phoebe is back, living the dream.... or so it seems. She is still working as a vet, opening her own small animal practice right on the grounds of her grandma's farm. This means we get to see lots of Maggie again! She is just as feisty as before and has is quite the character. I loved her! Maggie doesn't tend to sugar coat matters, e.g. : "Education with one of my baseball bats is what she needs..."
As well as the practice, there is a story about animal cruelty, mainly regarding lop-eared rabbits, we see how Rufus is getting on dealing with his problems, there's a big show/fair and there's the romance side of things. Will Phoebe dare to get involved with anyone again and if so, will it be Sam her childhood friend who has been not so secretly in love with her for years or will it be the grumpy, dark, mysterious Rufus Holt?
If you love animals and a good story with all the feels, you do not want to miss out on this one!
I was getting a little tired of all of the introspection from Phoebe when the action picked up and the story moved along quickly. It was a good book and well worth reading. I look forward to the net one in the series.
Amazon synopsis: Phoebe Dashwood is a passionately committed vet who’s living the dream.

An unscrupulous bunny breeder, a poisoned stream, and a complicated attraction all conspire to throw her dreams in a spin. Events come to a shocking climax at the New Forest Show where Phoebe’s world is turned upside down and she has to make some life changing decisions.
A lovely story despite the awful things learned about toxic chemicals and also toxic breeders. Phoebe has left her shared veterinary practice/cheating romantic partner in London and returned to her home/grandmother/friends to take over a practice and rebuild her life. Grandmother is a hoot with a history of protests who is also her receptionist. Phoebe has an old friend who has loved her forever, but she just doesn't feel that way towards Sam. Then there is the widowed "lord of the manor" who appears to hate horses, his son (budding horse whisperer), and a whole cast of very interesting people. Add in a disgusting breeder of lop-eared rabbits, poison found in the river on manor property, some bad decisions by a few, and you have a really nice read with lots of things to learn. A great read which has me hoping for a next book nest year! I requested and received a free e-book copy from Boldwood Books via NetGalley. Thank you!
Having enjoyed the first in this series, I was looking forward to more and I have not been disappointed. Phoebe gets her dream job of running Puddleduck Vets up and running and with it are plenty of light-hearted episodes with some adorable animals and quirky owners. Phoebe's family are still her rock, especially her grandmother, who is incorrigible but who always tries her best for the animals.
As the story develops, you also get to see some of the negative side of animal breeding as unscrupulous breeders take advantage of eager families. The need to be vigilant about the environment come right to Puddleduck Farm. Coming back to her childhood area has brought Phoebe back in touch with some old friends. You are certainly kept guessing as to who her heart belongs to. This is a lovely read with I am sure, plenty more milage to be had from the series.
In short: friends, family, animals and romance. Thanks to the publisher for a copy of the book
Rainbows is the second in the Puddleduck Farm series, it can read as a standalone but for a richer experience I would urge you to read 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝘂𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗸 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺 first.
I've read several intense books of late, so something light and fluffy made a much needed change.
I loved reconnecting with Phoebe, it was like catching up with an old friend and I found myself feeling proud of her for achieving her dream of opening her own veterinary surgery.
Along with the excitement of the new surgery, there's an unscrupulous bunny breeder, a poisoned stream AND a smidge of romance, all wrapped up in this gorgeous hug of a book.
Rainbows was an enjoyable, heartwarming read and I'm looking forward to another trip to the New Forest soon.
Many thanks to Rachel's Random Resources for my tour spot.
I loved absolutely everything about this book from the gorgeous Cover to the Title to the heartwarming story within. As a dog and animal lover I rejoiced in this book as a majority of the story includes animals. Phoebe has just opened her own veterinarian practice and with a few sad moments but many more amusing and happy moments I could literally not put down this book. Returning to Puddleduck Farm felt like reconnecting with old friends. Phoebe's grandmother Maggie made me chuckle several times she is quite a character and a quick witted, strong minded person who I admire. The settings for the farm were easy to picture and the sense of community and friendship makes me want to move to Puddleduck Farm. I love the authors lighthearted writing style and the little bits of romance in the plot all makes for great reading. Now I am eagerly anticipating the next book in this fun series.
Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the advanced readers copy!
Phoebe is about to open her new vet practice on Puddleduck farms. Business picks up right away for Phoebe. She soon discovers that someone has been irresponsibly breeding lop eared bunnies AND someone has likely been polluting the stream that runs though the farm. With the help of her friends, she will discover the culprit to the pollution and manage the breeder. She will also possibly find love along the way.
A sweet and enjoyable book. I did not realize this was a sequel, but I don't think the book suffered for it. The author did a pretty good job filling in background info for the reader. A good rep for PTSD and therapy!
It's an exciting time for Phoebe Dashwood. She's settled back in at home quite nicely, and her veterinarian practice is opening up at Puddleduck Farm. Working near her grandmother will help her key an eye on things while also doing what she loves. I loved coming home to Puddleduck Farm in Phoebe's second book.
Rainbows Over Puddleduck Farm is a lighthearted book in a wonderful series by Della Galton. The author did a great job creating this world, setting it up, and developing the characters. I had fun reading about strong grandmas, supportive parents, and silly animals. There are also some sinister goings-on that pull Phoebe in several directions. Add in a potential love triangle and Phoebe really has her hands full.
It was great to be back at Puddleduck Farm again and catching up with Phoebe and Maggie. It was lovely to see the characters navigate the next steps of their lives, Tori starting a new relationship, Sam trying to get over his one sided feelings for Phoebe, Rufus coping with his PTSD and growing feelings for Phoebe and best of all Maggie and Eddie, what a crackin couple, I loved seeing them together. Some important animal breeding issues raised and no doubt have also helped bring awareness to the cause to people, like myself who weren’t aware there was even an issue. Lovely family and friendship dynamics and I hope we get to visit the farm again in the future.
This is the second book in a series but it can be read standalone, as I did. However, I am planning to read the first one.
I loved the setting of the book. The descriptions of the New Forest shone through for me, it sounds so idyllic.
I really enjoyed the author's writing style as she has a with a wide range of characters with their own quirks. I especially liked Maggie, she gave me a few chuckles. The friendship between Phoebe, Tori and Sam was lovely.
This is a great easy to read book with friendship, cute animals and romance (including a live triangle) although there are a couple of more serious issues in it too.
I would firstly just like to say a big thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources who very kindly forwarded me an arc copy of this book, for my kindle, in return for my honest review.
Rainbows Over Puddleduck Farm was a wonderful, heartwarming, feel good, light hearted read all about Phoebe who is just about to open her very own veterinary practice.
I absolutely loved the setting of Puddleduck Farm and through the authors writing I honestly felt as though i was there too!
This book took me through all the emotions while reading it and it was such an easy read I just couldn’t read it fast enough and wanted to keep reading to find out what happened in each chapter!
A lovely, emotional, heartwarming, romantic read and i thoroughly enjoyed it…….
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion. I enjoyed the first book in this lovely series set in the area of the New Forest. This book brings back the main characters and introduces others while weaving a story that is as much about the animals as the humans. There are hilarious moments - customer Alice is completely unique! - as well as some sadness in addition to the underpinning romance. There are references to topical issues too, linked to the glorious countryside conjured up with descriptive passages. An all-round good read and I'm looking forward to the next!
