Arla Baker is back in one of her toughest cases...
A young woman is brutally slain after a night out, and her naked body left for all to see. Detective Arla Baker investigates, and discovers the woman had links to the music industry, where powerful figures will do anything to keep a scandal secret. Arla's own career is under scrutiny, as a criminal kingpin alleges he knows Arla, a total lie.
As corruption charges are brought against Arla, she is left wondering who could want her removed...because Arla knows secrets about the police force that some would do anything to keep hidden. As another woman is killed in cold blood, Arla knows this killer is just starting out, and will stop at nothing till he kills again.
Can Arla cope with this case, while she fights for her own career?
The latest installment of the Arla Baker series comes jam packed with dark lies, stunning plot twists, and an ending that will leave you wanting more!
Perfect for fans of Simon Mccleave, JM Dalgliesh, Alex Smith, Rachel McLean
When a young girl is found murdered after a night of partying, Arla is on the case. Will she be able to solve the murder before more people are murdered. With lots of twists and turns we are taken into the investigation that seems to be anything but straight forward. But at the same time, she has to fight for her career when she is being intensely investigated by internal affairs since they found her contact information on the cell phone of one of the major criminals. This thirteenth book has Arla, with the help of Harry, fighting not only to clear her name, but to find the murderer before he strikes some more. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end! I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
I have read all the Arla Bakers and all are good, this one is robust solid and well thought out. Arla always has problems with the hierarchy nothing new but this time is accused of corruption for once her boss believes her but she must clear her name and also work this case that has cropped up. A young woman was found dead outside a wine shop naked exposed so no clues. Arla has a great team and works tirelessly to find answers, and amongst working on this case she has to find out how her telephone number ended up on a drug dealer's phone and internal affairs do not give up. The case mainly started years ago and the author does give the year when telling the story so that readers are aware of what happened years ago and then bought up to the present day. No spoilers but a lot going on and Arla herself nearly comes a cropper, concentration is needed but it is an exciting read and well done to the author on the way he puts it together to make sense. I did receive an ARC copy but this is my review of On My Skin
This is another great story in the Arla Baker series. All of my favorite characters are here and, once again, it's like spending time with some favorite friends while they work. There is plenty of action, twists and turns with unexpected revelations and I was never sure of who the perpetrator was; the mark of an excellent author, in my opinion. I will be looking forward to the next installation in the series and hope it continues for quite a while. I received a review copy from the author at my request and this is my honest opinion.
A young woman found nude in an alley. Detective Arla Baker and her team have their hands full chasing a serial killer. The killer changes his name and is close to the police team. Arla gets falsely investigated for a text sent to her from a criminal. A heart pounding event with Arla at the end. I did not want to put this page turner down.
This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I have followed the entire journey of Arla Baker, and love this character. She’s perceptive, except in a couple of notable cases, and works through pain and broken bones to battle the villains. She’s a forthright, outspoken, kick-ass heroine, and I love reading about her career, life, and relationships.
Great read! But proofread before publication please!
Another great story with lots of twists! However the Author should employ a PROOFREADER prior to publication. There were far too many errors both grammatical and technical that could have easily been rectified by a good proofreader.
Unfortunately was a bit distracted reading this latest book in the dci area baker series as I’m going on holiday to turkey tomorrow have just bought the latest book in the dci Rohan Roy series so I will be reading that next and will go back to the 14th in the dci area baker series when I’ve finished it
Arla is one of my favourite detectives. Unfortunately she always manages to get into trouble. Her boss believes her this time but how will this get solved. Suspenseful, action and a book you don’t want to miss out on.
The author of this murder mystery keeps you guessing until the end of the story with lots of interesting twists and turns in this murder mystery. The only thing that spoiled the reading was the poor editing. I received a arc copy of this book for my honest review.
Arla and Harry team up once again in this thriller. This 13th book continues the series with another well written mystery. The author unfolds the story with good pacing and decent twists. I look forward to more in this series and by this author
Another Arla Baker winner. Murder, conspiracy, cover up and lots of twists - a great read. Big fan of ML Rose, however this book’s release was rushed; proof-reading non existent. Sent thru lots of corrections…!
This was a fantastic book about Arla with lots of suspense and drama and a ending you didnt see coming. Thank you for being a exceptional writer at writing books .
Another good book in this series. It’s full of action and quite a few secrets. It’s fast moving and just what we’ve come to expect from this series. Thanks to the author for the early copy
On My Skin is the 13th book in the Detective Arla Baker Series. This was an action-packed thriller; the death count just keeps adding up. I would recommend this book to others.
Same comments as all the other books. Brilliant book, spelling mistakes. Kept using the word in instead of on, words missing in sentences, extra words in sentences.
There are so many spelling mistakes and incorrect references to characters that I spent too much time rereading sections and going back to pages to see what was actually intended by the author. For me, these things ruin the enjoyability of reading a book.
