She’s single. Her best friend is holidaying out of town, and her mum is working instead of spending time with the family. Plus, Holly still hasn’t found her the perfect gift yet.
The local Christmas markets are her last hope, but her luck goes from bad to worse after she runs into her bestie, her ex, and the guy she’s newly crushing on.
But Christmas has plans for Holly.
Visited by three Spirits, will her unexpected encounter with a cute baker and his dog help her recover her Christmas spirit, or will Holly remain a Scrooge forever?
Perfect for fans of Groundhog Day and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, this YA holiday novella is a little spooky and a lot of sweet.
Melanie Pickering writes urban gothic thrillers with mystery, romance, and a supernatural twist. Library Assistant by day, writer by night, she lives in Australia in a ninety-year-old home that is quite possibly haunted. She loves dark chocolate and hasn't met a macabre fact she doesn't like.
Her new dark cozy series, Deadly Possessions, follows psychic art historian Emily Sloane and her dangerously charming boss as they uncover the cursed secrets behind a trail of deadly antiques.
It’s Christmas Eve, and Holly is not in a festive mood. She has recently broken up with her boyfriend, her best friend is away for the holidays, and her mother is working on Christmas Day. In a last-minute attempt to buy her mother a present, she goes to the town’s Christmas Carnival, where she encounters the new boy in town, her secret crush.
This young adult novella is a fresh take on A Christmas Carol, where Holly must decide what she really wants in a relationship. A sweet romance, the characters are relatable (my favourites being Jody and Marley), and I would be interested to see more of some secondary characters. I enjoyed the setting, which brought to life the carnival atmosphere. This fun, quick read, is perfect for the holidays.
Fabulous twist on the traditional 'A Christmas Carol' story surrounding the idea of being true to oneself and discovering what's really important in life.
The characters were a delight and I love how Holly blossomed through the story. I especially loved the author's dedication to a memory of someone in her past and how he lived on in her story. A heartwarming addition to an already beautiful tale.
