Family business
Another great book in the Guardian Universe. The book is not just a great story with the usual great characters but also a setup of the next big Guardian story arc.
Bear runs a successful chain of gyms and contracts to Guardian Security. Now he is contacted by the sister of a missing friend. However, this investigation will be more than anyone bargained for.
It was great to see old favourites return as supporting characters as well as cameos. It is also great to see how these characters are doing, but make no mistake. This is Bear and Piper's story. This book is also a great jump on point, though I would recommend reading the whole series.

Oh noo! This was nearly a DNF for me, I’ve read and loved everything this author has done but for some reason I couldn’t connect with this book and the two main characters. I’ll be honest since The Siege 1 & 2 I’ve struggle with the pace of the Guardian stories, I think we were spoilt with all the action in the Siege books.
I will try and re-read this and hope it was just because I was not in the mood

Bear-Rated
Well hot damned, this story just about killed me. I know that I shouldn’t be surprised by Kris Michaels calibre and style of writing, but, just like a quality wine gets better with age (even a red with ice), Kris populates our lives with another BBF to carry in our hearts ❤️.
A ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for sure.

He mistakes her for a fragile, timid bird....
....but when her see's her heart Bear realises he is wrong, she is not fragile or timid, she has the heart of a warrior, is smart, beautiful and stronger than anyone knew.
Piper starts by looking into her brother's disappearance, she soon finds herself targeted and her life on the line, no-one is more surprised than her at the strength she finds to keep fighting and keep investigating.
I love the relationship Bear and Piper form, neither are looking for love but from the minute they meet there is an unexplainable attraction that has them acting in ways they never have before, Bear has this possessive need clawing at him, urging him to claim and protect his warrior dove. Piper feels calm and safe when Bear is close, unusually she can read him and his actions, understanding his reasons even before he explains, and, no mistake, he does see her her need for explainations, for plans and for stability.
Just when Guardian are getting back to full strength they stumble into another conspiracy that is far bigger than anyone could ever have imagined, it's a conspiracy at the highest levels and could cripple not only America but the world, Piper and Bear may solve the puzzle they were working but it opens up bigger puzzles hidden behind the smoke and mirrors the alphabet agency's like to hide behind.....

What a thrilling ride!
Oh, what an amazing story! I absolutely love Bear and Piper, complete opposites, but so right for each other.
Pipers brother is missing, so she reaches out to Bear, per her brothers instructions. Bear goes to meet with her to figure out what is going on.
As they begin to dig into the disappearance, Bear and Piper are attacked several times. Gaurdian is involved and moves them to a secure location so they can work on unraveling the mystery that Pipers brother left them.
There are so twist and turns to the mystery but throughout this unraveling, Bear and Piper become close. Piper is able to grow and get stronger, manage her fears with Bear at her side. Bear also grows, learning to talk and show more of his feelings towards Piper. What an amazing lovestory between the two.
This is such an action packed book, I loved it. Is there a new enemy that Gaurdian needs to be aware of? Can't wait for the next books coming out!

When Piper can’t locate her brother she makes a call to his friend that her brother instructed her to do in the event something happens. She calls Bear because of her concern and convinces him to help her track him down. This is a beginning of an action packed, mystery romance. Piper suffers with anxiety issues and Bear helps her deal with her problems. Theirs is a journey to find and solve the mystery of her missing brother.
Kris Michaels had these characters go through so much and truly it is a brilliant suspense story. It is a real non stop action thriller that I could not put down. There are some touching moments between this couple and Bear becomes her protector as the attraction between them develops.
I loved the way Ms Michaels foreshadows and clues readers like me to what will happen in the Guardian world as her series continues. This is a must read!

I borrowed Bear ~ Guardian Defenders ~ Book 8, by Kris Michaels from the Kindle Unlimited Program.
Eight years earlier Bear was on a team that went into Cuba to find neucular dirty bombs and Christopner Whitehead was the neucular physist that went as an expert on how to handle the danger of the bombs. It was Bear's job to keep Topher safe and they became friends, so when Christopher's sister calls him for help because his friend has disappeared.
Bullets start to fly, Topher's house is burned to the ground with his notes on the wall and someone tires to runover Piper the first night of Bear's investigation. While Bear is meeting with Guardian, Piper's Guardian guards are attacked by three men so Bear and Piper go off-grid.
While staying with Jewell and Kane, Bear and Piper's romance blooms as the danger continues to be a threat to anyone looking into the research of the late Dr. Christopher Whitehead.
I loved how gentle and understanding Bear is with Piper and her anxiety issues and how strong and determined she is to overcome her fears and go on living without her brother and best friend. Wonderful plot with two excellent main characters and loved Dude's kisses and size too.

This Book Will Leave You Wanting More!
Omg Bears book reminded me so much of The Siege in a way with all those twist & turns, the suspense, the action packed scenes from beginning to the end, heart breaking moments, so many cliff hanging moments that it was so very hard to put this book down & the shocking revelations is mind blowing...I'm left wanting to know what will happen next with Guardian & will those evil ones ever get caught & pay for all they did.
Bear McGowen another alpha male introduced in Creed's book showed what type of badass character he was & in this storyline was no different. He was very protective over his teammates especially Christopher "Topher" Whitehead on their last mission to now his half sister Piper Whitehead who had so much going on mentally and dealt with so much throughout the story I was cheering them on & hoping this relationship happened lol. Bear & Piper are perfect for one another like all the other past alpha male Guardians I can't wait to see what happens next. And to see who makes an appearance in the next book to seeing other Guardians pop in is always welcomed & encouraged lol.

Bear is the eighth book in the Guardian Defenders series by Kris Michaels. With this series, Ms. Michaels delivers a compelling mix of romantic suspense, tactical action, and emotional storytelling. It’s another spin-off from the Kings of Guardian series, and definitely doesn’t disappoint, retaining the same high-energy pacing and interconnected worldbuilding I have come to expect from Ms. Michaels, while also introducing us to new operatives with their own unique missions and personal challenges.
Each book can be read as a standalone romance that’s wrapped up in a high-stakes operation - but I would be remiss not to mention that together they form a cohesive web of loyalty, trust, and found family.
Once again, Ms. Michaels delivers authentic action sequences grounded in military and covert operations, distinct character voices that make each operative memorable, interconnected relationships that add an extra dynamic to the overall series, and the perfect balance between suspense and romance.

Anxiety ridden physics engineer Piper Whitehead wasn’t sure if the timing was right when she contacted gym owner – Guardian operator, Bear McGowen. If it’s too soon, ok but what if it’s too late/ Though Bear didn’t know the number or anything about Piper Whitehead, he was able to verify everything she told him and if her brother, Topher, who’d worked with the team on dirty bombs in Cuba years ago is in trouble Bear’s on his way. Bottom line, Topher’s valuable and missing!
Piper takes Bear to Topher’s homes and office but someone doesn’t want that happening; the house is set afire, a shot is taken at the pair and someone tries to run Piper down. Things ae extremely confusing for our couple as thugs seem to run in circles trying to kill, kidnap and keep information from Piper at the same time plus their clean-up effort is a bit much.

What a totally gripping book. Piper asks for Bears help when she realises that her brother is missing. When she meets Bear she’s a bit overwhelmed with him, he’s not just a bear by name, he’s enormous. Piper struggles with anxiety and has panic attacks especially when her routine is interrupted, this makes her appear fragile and or frail. Bear soon learns that Piper is neither. I loved the growing relationship between Bear and Piper and I enjoyed spending time with Jewell and Zane. This book is different from the normal Guardian books, it’s more of a psychological thriller with loads of mystery and intrigue. It’s got loads of twists and turns, you don’t know who you can trust. Kris has taken her Guardian series to the next level with this book. I’m desperate to find out what happens next.

Piper called Bear by cause her brother was missing she needed help finding him. He told her if anything ever happened to him to call Bear. There is an instant protective instinct when Bear finally meets Piper. It only gets worse after the fire at her brother's house and then someone tries to run her over outside the house and then someone trying g to get to her at the hotel. They are taken off grid to hide until they can figure out what her brother was up to. As they are working together, feelings start to surface for both and of them. Will they give the in to their feelings? Will they figure out what got her brother killed and who had him killed?

Loved Bear
I have been eagerly anticipating Bear’s book, and it was awesome! Piper Whitehead’s stepbrother is missing, so she does what he’s told her to do, call his friend Bear McGowen, who he knows from a Guardian mission where they were both contractors. As they investigate, they realize only Piper can read Christopher’s shorthand, and they have to call in Guardian’s assistance. And the from there bullets fly, and craziness ensues. I also enjoyed that Jewell and Zane featured in there! And now that Guardian is rebuilding, is there a new enemy to face… Kris does amazing research and came up with another fabulous book and I loved it.

Bear🐻
Unlike his namesake, Bear is not grumpy but he is big, muscular and intimidating. When he answers a call from Piper, a friend’s sister, he immediately springs into action. Topher, his friend is missing and Piper is concerned as this is not like him😢
Bear and Piper start to look into what her brother got involved in, which unfortunately leads to all sorts of danger. Trying to keep her safe, Bear does the only thing he can do, calls in more Guardians😁
A good story that is definitely setting up another big one and I for one can’t wait to see what’s coming….excited for Billy next❣️

Kris Michaels entire Guardian World is just Awesome! She is one of my favorite/go-to authors. Her stories focus on a couple of main characters but always bring in side characters from other books (you don't need to know the back story but if you read them in order it is soooo much better) and you really appreciate the entire series. Bear is another fine example and I can already imagine him and Piper popping up in future stories - and I can't wait! As it says in the description "they will walk the trail together until the end, no matter what it takes" - I think they run it, with Dude (read it and you will find out who Dude is) and they will get their HEA. Great book!

love this series and world
Years have passed, but we got many members back from an early read with nuclear plans and Cuba involved. The scientist is missing and his sister calls Bear for help. Bear is alpha and manly, but also shows such a great empathy and ability to care with how he handles panic attacks, concerns, and anxiety that Piper deals with. I loved seeing the secondary characters who all have their HEA now and the siblings work together and refer to previous missions. The mountain house still blows my mind and I loved the dog! A great read and the ending already has me antsy for the next book!

I have listened to all of Kris's books, and I'm astounded at how she goes from Hollister series to in-depth sinister governmental plots. it's just wow. the info I had to be careful not to miss was just boggling. I'm so glad I had listened to Creed as a character from there is pertinent to here.
it was wonderful to catch up on some favourite characters and how they are all settled in their new areas.
the romance was there, the steam was lighter than some but just as wonderful, it added to the tone of the scene and the h's persona.
wonderful narration by Matt as always, I can't imagine anyone else. so enjoyable. thank you, Kris and Matt

Very good book
I really like Piper and Bear as a couple. She is super smart but has debilitating anxiety episodes. I like that she’s socially awkward and that Bear really gets her and helps her through them. Even with these limitations, she is still a strong MC and plays an active role in trying to figure out what happened to her brother. Bear is a protector through and through. I liked their interactions and there were some sweet moments.
This seem to open up a new overarching plot and I’m curious where the author is taking Guardian and their new structure.

Wow! Another FANTASTIC story by Kris! This story is about Bear and Piper. Piper is strong but suffers from social anxiety but managed to call Bear about her brother. It's unfortunate that her brother was killed and she now has to figure out what her brother was looking into. We get to see alot of Jewell and Zane. Dude is hilarious. It's unfortunate we don't get to see the bad guys taken care of. I am happy that Bear found happiness with Piper. FANTASTIC job Kris! I would highly recommend this book!

This begins a quest to find what her was investigating and what happened to him while Bear keeps Piper safe from someone wanting her dead and her anxiety attacks. We get Zane and jewel and Dude too. I loved watching th relationship between Bear and Piper grow and her confidence in herself grow.

2.5 stars. This book just didn’t keep my attention and I was either waiting for something to happen or for it to be over. Bear and Piper weren’t the most natural fit, but that’s ok because not much of the book is focused on their relationship. I’m intrigued at how many strangers get sent to the mountain cave in the Guardian series. I get having character continuity, but they really should invest in a safe house. This book was setting us up for another storyline for future books, so it felt unresolved.

I love this series. Bear is a refreshing pivot to a Guardian that gives it all to his job with the company, but also has a life outside the organization. He’s got all the talent, drive, loyalty and is as much of a Superman as the other guardians but he’s also a businessman and he meets and takes care of Piper a very flawed, intelligent physics professor with severe social anxiety through the worst time of her life. It was a super enjoyable read and even at its most stressful point I was reveling in the caretaker that Bear truly is.

Bear, gets a phone call from a stranger, goes to Baton Rouge to find a missing friend. There he meets Piper, the sister to his friend, Topher. Bullets start flying and he is in protection mode. Keeping her safe is now his priority.
With this book out there is a new threat coming out that the Guardians are not taking lightly. Will they be able to destroy the new enemy quickly and permanently?

Nothing is as simple as it might seem
For those who have read the Guardian books in action order, a big question has been how Guardian would re-form after the Siege. At last we have some of the answers, and a better understanding of why Creed was slotted in when it was.
No spoilers, other than to say what started as a search for a missing physicist becomes much more, with a new enemy to rival the Fates.

amazing
Another wonderful story from Kris Michaels. The characters are beautifully written and thoroughly believable. Bear has finally found his other half, the woman who gives him someone to protect but also balances his need for physical action in her athleticism, she is also incredibly bright. Great to be reunited with some old and new friends but trouble is coming AGAIN! Whatever it takes as long as it takes.

Slow burn
Bear and Piper met under strange circumstances, he knew her brother and were friends, the strange call asking for his help to find her missing brother, Bear and Piper find themselves in danger, espionage and intrigue, murder and suicide, gun fire and fire, hidden looks, soft touches, anxiety meltdown, great intimacy, family you didn't know you had support you, and a great big furry puppy, Kris Michaels has went beyond with this story, thank you, Dana Zamora

Wow... yet another 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 thrilling adventure with the Guardians.
Bear thought Piper was a timid,shy little bird, but it turns out she's quite the opposite!
Piper was unsure about Bear when she first saw him, but it turns out he is her teddy bear after all!!
It was great to catch up with some of the Kings and Sage Browning.
Awesome storyline, superb characters, and loved the HEA.
Can't wait for the next book... Billy. Plus
Con's story is going to be hard to wait patiently for!!

Bear (Guardian Defenders Book 8)
I loved the book, but it was too short for me and felt like a Prequel to Billy (Book 9Guardian Defenders
). I was very happy to read all the Kings are still at it and the relationship between Piper Whitehead and Bear McGowan turned from protector and rescued to forever lovers was enthralling. Highly recommend and looking forward to reading Billy’s story

Another great story from Kris Michaels. Weirdly I expected it to go on for longer so there's definitely more to come. Bear's a great character but Piper, the female lead, took me longer to warm to. I liked the mix with Jewell and Zane and the rest of the family.
It's a complicated story as always, there's action, adventure and corruption.

As always Kris delivers an action packed love inspiring story linked in to Guardian seamlessly and opening a whole new chapter in the saga thank you so much for keeping Guardian so much alive and thriving and entertaining for your readers who have by no means gotten enough of the Guardian world me personally I don’t know if I ever want an end to this Awesome Exciting always step above Adventure that is Guardian
