A stone-cold killer. His code name of Ice was given to him for a reason. When he was hunting the bastards that preyed on the helpless of the world, Ice was relentless and ruthless. Guardian Security focused his talent, and he became a lethal asset.
An Uncontrolled Destiny
To save her younger sister, Londyn Chatsworth married a despicable man. Her agoraphobic husband used his wealth to manipulate everyone except Londyn. After ensuring her sister’s safety, Londyn takes matters into her own hands. A gun and determination would see the end of her husband’s evil.
A Deadly Fate
After weeks of hunting and watching his target, Ice witnesses a broken and terrified woman murder the man he was sent to kill. Ice breaks his cover and steadfast rules of engagement to save Londyn. That intervention provides a hint of opportunity that Guardian needs to identify a looming threat. It also places Londyn and Ice in the crosshairs of a new enemy.

Ice is the next book in the Shadow series and is absolutely fantastic❣️Kris Michaels has done it again and put together a masterpiece.
Ice usually goes on his missions alone. However, just as he leaves his latest mission, he receives a message telling him to get to the Rose. Called on again, he’s told he has a mission of which length is unknown and could take months to accomplish😳 He never factored in that he would be saving lives while he was kicking butt and taking names.
Londyn is living in her own personal nightmare😭 Married to a man she doesn’t wish to be married to and who abuses her both physically and emotionally, she’s had enough. Determined to do something about her situation, she bides her time and makes a move, only to be intercepted by Ice.
A not to be missed addition and I can’t wait to read Malice next😍
Ice is the eleventh instalment in the Guardian Security: Shadow World series by Kris Michaels. I couldn't wait to dive into this series - binging my way through this thrilling blend of high-stakes suspense, military precision, and emotional romance. This series is a spin-off from her Kings of Guardian universe, and dives into the covert, dangerous, and morally complex missions of elite operatives working in the shadows where the stakes are high, loyalty is tested, danger is constant, and love often comes at the highest cost. Each book focuses on a different operative, giving us a fresh perspective each time, while also weaving in an overarching sense of camaraderie and found family. The characters are layered - hardened by their pasts and yet still vulnerable in ways that make them relatable. I recommend reading the series from the beginning, reading each book in sequential order for you to be able to fully appreciate the interconnected relationships and evolving team dynamics. Ms. Michaels doesn’t shy away from the darker realities of covert work, but she also infuses hope, resilience, and the healing power of love into her storylines. So, if you enjoy romantic suspense with military and intelligence intrigue, then you will want to dive into this world and experience all the action, passion, and edge of your seat missions for yourself. Happy Reading…
Kris has done it again! She Never disappoints! Londonyn and her baby sister Paris are trapped on an Island by a billionaire abuser who is involved in a mysterious Shadow organization set on world dominance using one of Guardian’s own computer genius’ own programs. Londyn is being forced to do his bidding using her younger sister trapped with her on this sicko’s island surrounded by guards. She is tortured and abused everytime she refuses to have “relations” with him. Ice has staked out the the man because Guardian has traced some information of atrocities happening in the world that make no sense back to this man on the island. As Ice becomes involved on what is happening to the 2 sisters situation he begins to admire London’s defence from this agoraphobic cruel brilliant pervert. Ice begins to have feelings he thought he could never feel after the removal of a brain tumour. Thank you Kris for another amazing story I read until 2:30 am in the morning! Can’t wait for Malice’s story, but I do have to the interactions with Fury and Archangel made me miss all the Kings, the original Guardians all over again. I hate to think of them being past their prime!
Ice promises himself that Londyn would never suffer again. 'Never again. Never powerless. Never vulnerable' it's a motto that many in Guardian can relate to and live by, but for the first time he fully understands the possessive need to know she is safe, healthy and as happy as she can be. It's a foreign feeling for him and he still doesn't believe it's an emotional response as he cannot feel love...but he sure can experience it as Londyn crashes through all his barriers. As with all Guardian operatives he has a past that is not pretty, hell his current is not pretty either, but Londyn doesn't need pretty, she needs real and honest. Ice is probably honest to a fault, but his unemotional and blunt responses provide Londyn with a security she never thought she would feel again. A security she needs to be able to recover and move forward in her life. They may not be a couple with a traditional relationship, but what they have works perfectly for both of them. I love seeing the Shadow Operatives find their one, find the future they never dared to hope for and finally find some peace from the job they do.
I've read so many of Kris's books in this Guardian series and have learned about different mental & physical challenges someone may be facing and her storylines pull me in every time & brings awareness too so many topics some I've never even heard of is mind blowing. Ice's storyline blew me away there was so many action packed scenes, some dealing with physical & emotional abuse, and some very deep conversations throughout the book & wisdom shared by Ice & a few other guardians who make an appearance. I enjoyed seeing some of the crew back together, the closeness some share, and I couldn't help laughing every time the ancient one was mentioned, and can't wait to see if he ever finds out that is his new nickname by the younger shadows 🤣 I just loved Londyn's big sister vibe, her strength to overcome being held prisoner for over a year and her openness with Ice & how she accepted him made her another new favorite of mine too. I am excited to know Malice's and everyone else's stories yet to be read or come, and to know what else Guardian has coming too.
No plot spoilers There are some potential triggers relating to kidnap and physical abuse as well as emotional and psychological manipulation, lightly written. I adored both main characters, Ice was so well crafted he became real with all of his quirks. The only thing I disliked about Londyn was her name, other than that her character was drawn so clearly I felt I truly knew her. Kris Michaels knows how to craft characters! The plotline was a bit thin, we learned no more of the new threat than at the start of the book. I know it will all fit together a bit further down the line because the other thing Kris Michaels knows how to do is tell a story! I totally couldn't put the book down, it demanded to be read immediately. Lovely to catch up with previous characters, especially the ancient ones lol! I can't recommend the book highly enough but suggest reading the series to obtain the best reading experience. Need Malice' story followed immediately by Harbringer's.
I was so much looking forward reading Ice’s story that now that I finished it I want to go back and read it again. I loved Ice and Londyn’s story. Ice is so blunt and honest. He is an assassin for Guardian. Something happened some years ago, doctors discovered a brain tumor, removed it causing this new kind of personality. He shows no feelings or empathy for people in general. Only those who he considers his people, his stand up people. Oh, and he has a great sense of humor that didn’t go away with the removal of the tumor. I truly believe that we all need an Ice in our real life.
In his latest mission he meets Londyn, a woman who has been kidnaped and held as a prisoner for almost a year. She is a strong woman who has had a year to decide she won’t be a victim again. From the moment they meet there is something between them. True emotions for Londyn, sensations and want to protect for Ice. Their HEA is one of the kind. Malice is up next and I am already counting the days! “Whatever it takes, as long as it takes”.
I absolutely loved this book! Ice is a complex individual. He can unalive anyone Guardian sanctions without a second thought. He has no conscience and is unable to feel emotions (you’ll have to read to find the reason) but get a heavy feeling in his chest the more he interacts with the woman who was held captive by his latest target. Londyn has been held captive on an island for a year by a sadistic ahole and is attracted to the man who freed her. I loved these two as they worked through their feelings about what happened and about each other. Ice is a psychiatrist and looks at everything from a scientific perspective but can’t explain what is happening to him. There is danger headed their way too as they work to uncover the secrets hidden on the island. We get to visit with some of our favorite Guardians too! This is a definite must read for all Guardian fans.
I borrowed Ice ~ Guardian Security Shadow World ~ Book 11, Kris Michaels from thee Kindle Unlimited Program.
Ice is a shadow with a unique history that changed his personality. He is on an unusual mission because it was one that he had to work with others and it involved being paitient, which was difficult for him.
On a island off the coast of Chili he is after a target that is holding two women, sisters on the island; one the target has married and the other is her younger sister. Lyndon has been abused both physically and emotionally for over a year; her sister Paris was held in solitary confinement for the year. After the rescue and elimination of the target and all twelve of the guards, a visit for an unknown helicopter, finding the computer system and getting all the information from it the returning to Ice's house in Virginia in the the United States. I loved the way Ice was able to react to Lyndon and the ending to their story.
## This book does not stand alone. Maybe if I was reading the series this would've been more enjoyable, but I really don't think so. I thought Ice was going to be a grumpy alpha male, but instead he can't feel anything because of brain surgery. He's a former shrink and thinks he knows everything. Tbh, it was off putting. Sure, he vows to protect the heroine, but says he can't love her. And when they have sex and she asks if he liked it, he says "I can't say I felt euphoria". What a terrible response. What a terrible life telling your man "I love you" but not once does he say it back. It was just bizarre. Sorry, I can't recommend this one, nor will I buy any others in this series based on this one. The extra star was because I was able to finish it.
Ice/Zach and Londyn. Abducted and forced to marry an abuser. An assassin who can’t feel. Together they make a fascinating couple that fit beautifully. Ice saves Londyn and her sister from a horrible situation and they immediately feel a connection, but are not sure why or what with their two damaged backgrounds. Guardian is figuring out the next big problem as this island was covering up major bad deeds and had a lot of wealth to do so. Great conversations between Ice and Londyn, but also between Ice and his fellow assassins Ronnie, Mal, and Val. A solid epilogue that has me intrigued even more about Malice’s background and what will happen with him and Paris!
Another great book in the Guardian Universe. I especially like how the next generation seamlessly fitted into this universe. The spin of internet fame, technology, and military operations is great.
Ice is the most damaged member of the next generation of Shadows. This also makes him one of the best at his job. To the point where comparisons with an "Ancient" King. Now, on an assignment that will take him out of his comfort zone, he will need to use unwanted skills and feel impossible emotions that are supposed to be long dead.
This is definitely Ice and Londyn's story, but I really like that the background story is furthering something bigger. Apart from being great when the payoff comes, this means many more books to come in the future.
Well, this was awesomely different. The tone of this book reminded me of Valkyrie . It was the H that is normally the Alpha, strong, rescuing, and confident. Here, though, we have all shadow qualities within him, but his affliction was the challenge that needed the h step up. There is so much compartmentalising required here as it weaves in between the pages. But it slips beautifully into the h's character. Her personality was just what the Dr ordered and the H , in turn, had the right skills to aid the h. I got the military mystery ramping up and a blossoming romance with a bit of steam . So, I enjoyed Malice and his humour. I'm looking forward to more. As for Matt, it's just awesome. I love him as always
This was an interesting mission for Ice. This was an enjoyable read. The guardian's leaders bring Ice to the Rose where they send him off on an assignment that has no end date. The issue that Icehas to manage is that the mark is abusing a young woman named Londyn. Unfortunately, Londyn has been kidnapped and held now for about one year. The bad guy Jonas is unreal and beats and abuses Londyn even though he professes that he loves her. That's where Ice has no choice but to advance the mission because Jonas is about to harm Londyn in a way that she will not be able to come back from. The author does keep us interested throughout but not all questions are answered by the end. There is a happy coupling for Ice and Londyn. Read On!
This author comes up on my recommended lists pretty regularly. Some of my favourite authors have recommended them. So I’ve tried. Then I’ve tried again. And again.
I’m happy for this writer that they clearly have a lot of fans, but the style just isn’t for me. Too many plot holes you can drive a battalion of trucks through, strange dialogue, and characters that are stereotypical at best and obnoxiously, gratingly annoying at worst. The women feel like they were written by a rather misogynistic man, and the men feel like they were written by AI.
Every book can’t be for every person, and I’ve had my last attempt with these.
Ice and Londyn are two complete opposites. Londyn and sister were basically kidnapped to an island by an obsessive individual. His diabolical ways had me cringing. All three of these characters have serious issues than run the gamet of being abused, shamed, feeling they have no right to care for another. Kris has given us a story that makes you stop and think that not everything is always rosy in life. Bad things happen to good people. This is a hard read as learning of what happened to Londyn and her sister may be triggers but also what has made Ice into the man he is and why he feels no one would want to be with him.
Another great Guardian story, this time featuring Ice who is surveilling a target and watching whilst the target misuses the woman living in his house. Londyn clearly hates her captor and finally takes matters, and justice, into her hands at the same time her sister, Paris becomes safe and Ice takes out his target. That's just the beginning of their story. From the Guardian world the 'ancients' like Fury and Anubis are involved, as well as Mal, his best friend from the shadow world. This is one of my favourite reads in this series, I really liked the main characters and storyline.
What can I say, another home run for this author. I loved this book, I especially loved the character Ice, I was sad when the book ended because there are some characters you just want to hold onto a bit longer. I really enjoyed Ice and Malice's friendship also. It great when an author can convey the totality of a character or in this case a friendship with just a few words or well constructed sentences. I highly recommend this book and for that matter all the books in this series or by this author. Very well written and extremely entertaining, you won't be disappointed.
I'm certain went to do a job but was surprised to find two people who disappeared without a trace
What Londyn and Paris went through was horrible. Ice had to watch what Londyn went through for a month while hiding and biding his time for the right moment to complete his job. When he hears and sees her being beaten for the second time, he doesn't hesitate to complete his job at that moment. Once they are back home, the girls stay with Ice. After they are settled, will they continue to live with Ice or will they want to find their own place? Will Londyn ever go back to being internet sensation ?
Yet again Kris Michaels has written a book that kept me turning the pages until the end. (Who needs sleep, right?) I absolutely loved the way London and Ice related to each other, the total acceptance of what he felt were limitations...let me just say that perception is truth. There is so much I enjoyed about this book that I can't even put into words. Buy it! Read it! You will NOT be disappointed! (now begins the wait for both the next book, and the audible for THIS one 😁😍)
How wonderful to be back in Guardian”s world again, I Love the assassins although maybe I shouldn’t admit that! Ice is called that because he is ice cold and emotionless, an absolute necessity in his line of work. He meets Londyn whilst on a mission and soon she is deeply involved. She is traumatised and he is scared of what his “ feelings “ might mean. This is a story of rescue, redemption and rejuvenation. “ You are enough…… until my last breath!” Oh Kris, this pulls at the heartstrings.
The new threat is coming. And new teams that works for Guardian are on call. Ice is one of the best ones who works best alone. He has no feelings. And that doesn't mean that he can't care. When he is assigned to find and eliminate the evil he is up for the job. But he doesn't expect what he finds. Two women who are being held against their will. Londyn and her sister are being held by the most powerful person with evil intentions for the world. This is a suspense and fast passed read.
That old time saying can be so true and with this Author, always. The Guardians are a beautiful group of dangerous, seasoned but honest hard working individuals that do whatever it takes as long as it takes, operators that started as family that has continued to grow. As I read these pages go by faster as I have to know what comes next and see which one is going to be next up? I've read all of Kris Michaels Guardian series and the next Guardians in line. If you haven't read her stories, you are missing out on some of the best there are.
I love Kris Michaels' books. I was waiting for Ice's story. Fantastic story but an abrupt ending. In the outline... " It also places Londyn and Ice in the crosshairs of a new enemy ". There were nothing in the book except for the one in the island. And that's it. I was stunned after reading for the part about Ice has a new assignment...thinking that the next chapter was about it. Unfortunately it's the epilogue. I felt that it was such an abrupt ending.
I’m so excited to read this book. I love the Shadow series and Ice was the icing on my cake. This book is amazing, Ice is such a complex character, you find out why he is the way he is. He meets Londyn while on his mission. She’s going through absolute hell and he’s there for her. They are just perfection together. I absolutely adore this series and this book is a great addition to the series. I can’t wait to read Mal’s story next.
Very interesting book. I really liked Ice and his response to situations due to his brain issues. Plot was well developed and so different from most shadow Guardians. This was not a usual kidnapping and horrifying to read about. Author took a great deal of time and research to pull everything together into one of her very best books. I highly recommend ICE to all readers who like intense mysteries with very unique characters. One of your best books to date . Congratulations Kris!
She was brutally beaten trying to keep her sister safe. If she gave in she knew it would cost her her life. With no one to protect her, her sister would die also. Ice finally got the call he could take Bruce out. There were 12 guards on the island. He got the orders to take care of them. Just the tip of the iceberg. Very little down time. Very good story. Characters that worm into your heart.
Ohhhhh this book was everything, Ice and Londyn absolutely just fit, he's got the patience he says he doesn't have, she's his goddess and can feel his love when he can't express the feelings, ridding the world of evil is who and what Guardian does, what ever it takes, as long as it takes, absolutely riveting story, thank you Kris Michaels for another phenomenal story, worth more than 5 star's, thank you, Dana Zamora
Oh wow! Another FANTASTIC story by Kris! This story is about Ice and Londyn. We finally get to see how Ice became Ice. The story was very intense throughout and heartbreaking for Londyn and her sister Paris. As we continue, we get to see Ice get his happy ending. I am glad these two are able to find happiness with each other. FANTASTIC job Kris! I would highly recommend this book! I can't wait for Malice's book!
I absolutely loved this book. Kris Michaels wrote these characters to perfection. I love reading a book that presents something new or unique, and this was that - I loved the portrayal of Ice's perspective and Londyn being completely there for it. I loved the insta-bond between the two of them. I had so many "I'm not crying, you're crying" moments reading this. So, so good!
