The Blackwood Five #2

Stoneward Asylum

Rate this book
How do you keep five demons and a witch from breaking the law?

I rolled the dice and fate turned on me. A trip to the other side of the portal changed my life forever. One accidental pregnancy and a near-death experience later, I'm in the back of a car taking me straight to Stoneward Asylum with my five baby daddies right next to me.

The prisoners don't take too kindly to new arrivals. I might only be here for a few weeks, but that's plenty of time to learn the ropes. There's a new demon squad on the playground and when they decide to challenge the Blackwood Five, all I can do is hope that we don't become chopped liver before our trial starts.

The Council is determined to serve justice, but between the baby and the prison war, I don't know which will get me first.

I like the baby idea. The rest of the plot was super flimsy. Once again the girls always in distress and the men who I can’t tell apart fail at saving her every time. I guess that is realistic but super repetitive.

I’ve been waiting for this book to come out since I read the first one not that long ago. I really really love this story. Marilyn and her Demons are so stinking cute together now that the bullying is over. I cannot wait to read the next book

"The Devil doesn't come dressed in a red cape and pointy horns; he comes as everything you've ever wished for." pg. 6 book 1

**Review Shared for Series*

These books were interesting. The storyline was definitely unique and I had been dying to read a reverse harem where the fmc is pregnant ON PAGE and the guys actually know about it.

The books themselves are pretty short, less than 200 pages in each. So it was a pretty quick trilogy. The whole premise of the series is the fact that a witch got pregnant by demons which is outlawed. The first book is essentially the guys bullying her, the second is them being in jail for her being pregnant, and the third is her going through the rough pregnancy. Although short and to the point, it was pretty intriguing. The world building was decent. The plot was not only unique but interesting. The character development was also surprisingly decent despite the shortness of the books.

I am only giving three stars because it just felt like something was missing despite all that. It was probably due to the length, or maybe it was that everything seemed to happen so fast, but I was just left wanting by the end of the third book. We do get a happy ending but like I said, I just felt like there could have been so much more to it.

Also, can we talk about the fact that one of the mmc's had been LITERALLY THROWING her across rooms before they knew she was pregnant? And there was like not only no groveling for how crappy he treated her, but also it wasn't mentioned how he literally had put her and the baby at risk without realizing it.

Also in the second book Mercer goes to the asylum and "meets" the guys (pg. 85). But they were all in court together a few days earlier....

I’m not sure what it is about Stoneward Asylum that has me in a chokehold. Is it the five gorgeous baby daddies? Is it their different styles? Wink wink. Is it the satisfaction of seeing them get knocked down a peg? Is it the magic baby? Or is it the story that grabs you and doesn’t let you go? All of the above. I read Blackwood Academy and Stoneward Asylum back to back. I was giddy the whole time. Where are you book 3? I need you.

Spice level (1-5): 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Kink level (1-3): ⛓️⛓️ MMFMMM, butt stuff, MM, etc.

Marilyn and her five baby daddies are sent to Stoneward Asylum after the academy finds out she is pregnant with a hybrid baby. Since the paternity of their baby is still in question, all five potential fathers are imprisoned. The Blackwood Five are used to being the big shots on campus, but in a prison where they are stripped of their magic, they are at the bottom of the totem pole. Not used to being powerless, they have a hard time adapting. When long-time prisoners start hassling Marilyn and threatening her safety, can they keep her and the baby safe when they are no match for their opponents? Will they survive until their trial?

I would recommend Stoneward Asylum to the why choose fanatics. If you like options, twins, being preggers, demons with different powers, MM, age gap, found family, friendship, suspense, PNR romance, prison, reconnecting with family, magic powers, you’ll love Stoneward Asylum. This book does contain male on male action, attempted SA and violence. For the why choose girlies that love suspense, this one is for you!

Warning: Reading Stoneward Asylum may make you want to have five baby daddies. May make you glad you’re not in prison. May make you practice your self defense skills. May make you find clever ways to sneak food. May make you want five gorgeous guys to take care of you. May make you question your current relationship. May make you think the more the merrier. Read responsibly.

Let down

I really like the storyline but this book just still has a lot left to give. I mean there was only like 10% interaction between Marilyn and the guys and 90% was being in court, thoughts from different point of views, surviving prison and honestly it feels like her and the guys just happened which it did but with almost zero meaningful moments with each of the guys individual to see their relationships grow and become more. I’m this book they barely talk just them and when it could’ve happened in the library between marilyn, nico, and zeph, they ended up not talking just them getting along and getting to know each other or having a few laughs and straight to sex to satisfy her sex drive from being pregnant. It’s not bad they end up loving her and her loving them after surviving together being there for eachother only having eachother but for an actual relationship or us readers to get hooked then we need more added.

I feel like that book went so fast. It was a long inhale waiting to see what was to come only to get . . . to end up at another cliffhanger. I can mentally feel myself still holding that breath.

These middle books in stories often end up only being fillers and really as nothing to the overall story arc. I really can't say that about this book, though. It is definitely adding. It's building on those relationships that were so flimsy in the first book. Budding relationships between these demons and witch, between absentee father and neglected daughter, and finally between could-be mother and possible future.

This story overall just builds and and builds over this series. It's a story that will have you wanting more even after the last page. Wanting that climax, but you still won't get it with this book. It ID going to be worth the wait to see how this all ends.

Moving forward...

So even though the story is essentially progressing, I feel like we aren't actually getting anywhere. They all get to stone ward and of course have drama, which causes Marilyn and the baby to become distressed. I understand that crossbred babies may be illegal but the council seems to be made up of a bunch of a**holes who don't Care how things happened they just pass judgment and punishment regardless of hearing the story. Each kind needs to stick with their own kind, which is such crap. Who are they to tell people who they can be with. Anyway, Finally with the doctors letter they see reason and get her and the guys out of the asylum but it doesn't help fast enough. I blame the council for what they are going through right now, along with her b**ch mother. At least she has the guys and her dad to support her now. The book is fast moving but the storyline hasn't progressed super far. Hopefully ill like the next book more.

Brace yourself: if you want to find out the fate of Marilyn, her baby, and the Blackwood Five… you’re going to have to wait until the next book.

This ENTIRE novel is basically them trying to get out of prison. There’s not a whole lot that progresses in the plot. And because I hate the prison trope… it got pretty old pretty fast for me.

Marilyn, as a MC, isn’t doing much to move the plot along either, which makes it tricky to enjoy reading.

This one is only 🌶️🌶️.5. There’s 3 🌶️ scenes total, but only two with Marilyn involved (yeah.. it gets weird. Men fumbling over themselves to proclaim they aren’t gay as they put it in each others butts?… be so for real and just say what you are there’s no shame in it)??

Also.. what’s up with the limited amount of Zeph POVS?!?! Give me what I want!!

At this point, book three better go off the rails and Marilyn better change the world.. because I’ve been holding my breath for so long I’m starting to turn blue.

Stoneward Asylum was just what my heart needed :3

Despite being imprisoned, all of them are bound together even tighter; they are inseparable, even when the threats of death loom over them. All because of the love they have developed for one another, and for the blessing growing amongst them!!

There is just an explosion of togetherness; of forever; of never giving up on each other. Oh, be still my beating, craving heart!!

I was so excited to get to read Stoneward Asylum, because I was anxiously waiting to find out what was going to happen!! And now, I gotta wait again!! But I'm a patient gal. ALL good things are worth waiting for. So I'll wait, and I'll watch, and I will pounce when the time is right, because I am absolutely in love with the Blackwood Five and Marilyn!!! And all of the sharing ;)

First let me say, I do not agree with biracial babies being abominations, so team love who you want to love here.

Marilyn and the guys find themselves expelled from the university and not off to greener pastures. They will go through some hard times, but staying strong together and fighting for what they believe in, can only help.

A parent has his own 'come to jesus' moment and it's beautiful, takes a little and he might say some things he doesn't mean, but who hasn't.

This ending leads us right into the final book, Book 3, Bellevue Medical. Which I am off to go read right now because I NEED to know what's going to happen for Marilyn and her baby daddies.

Stoneward Asylum - book 2 in The Blackwood Five series and it picks up with Marilyn & the guys arriving at Stoneward Asylum. Not a place of car & compassion but run by a man who couldn't care less what happens to the inmates. So its left to a gang of inmates to administer their own brand of rule and they've set their sights on causing trouble with Marilyn & the guys. That's not the main problems that they all face in this book though. Family and the Council ruling who are there to pass judgement on their fate. They have so much going on against them but what it did do is bring them all closer together. Which i liked. Im looking forward to seeing where the series will go next. A good read.

This series is a first read for Jesi Donovan and I love the Blackwood Five and Marilyn. This second book focus on being sent to and locked up at Stoneward Asylum. The Blackwood men are no longer at the top of the food chain and are dealing with gangs and doing everything they can do to protect Marilyn and their baby! Realization that his daughter is pregnant and was not there for her most her life he has vowed to be there for her and the baby. It all things are happy and good, danger is lurking and I’ll so excited for book 3.

Stoneward Asylum

I have been really enjoying this series. The books are short but I like it. This book picks up where book 1 left off. Marilynn and her guys (Ares, Slade, Nicodemus, Zale, and Zephyrus) are taken to Stoneward Asylum that is run by a gang and the guards let the inmate do what they want in moderation. There is some character growth and you see Marilynn really grow up and determined to fight for her relationship with the guys and her baby.

I enjoyed the story picks up right where the first ended, even throwing in flashbacks within the first chapter as a type of refresher of the previous book. There was definite growth in the characters and within their relationship. I do look forward to the next book to see what's going to happen with them having a child, or just the outcome of the child really - as well as how the dynamic will adjust as a family.

This 2nd book kicked right off. This one was more about the mental, psychological, and emotional counterparts of all the characters. It focused on how everyone was transitioning through the difficult time. There was barely anything going on to further along the relationship until almost the very end. There was barely and steam. This was a slow build for sure. I enjoyed it but wished it picked it up more. The dynamics definitely changed with her dad and I'm glad.

This was a great second story to the series. I loved how the men were willing to sacrifice anything for Marilynn and the baby. Jesi kept me on the edge of my seat with the prison gang aspect and I love how the baby continually protects her with his magic. With that cliff hanger at the end I just hope the third book ends with a HEA for everyone.

Have you ever been driving down the highway, only to come across a car wreck, and you know you shouldn't slow down and gawk, but it's like you have.no choice in the matter?
That's what this series for me.
This book has officially made me lose 99% of my interest but that morbid curiosity that makes.me state at the car wreck, has me finishing the story.

Why choose/ paranormal/ shifter/ witch/ forced proximity/ MFM/ MMFMMM/ MM/ forbidden romance/ cliffhanger

Trigger warning: neglectful parenting/ violence/ SA/ assault/ verbal abuse

This book was fine. I’m not sure why I’m even still reading this series at this point. It’s just ok. Not mind blowing.

what a ride

This was definitely a lot more different then I thought. Is good though. Just like book one this one leaves off on a huge cliff hanger and you are going to want to dive right into the next book. The MMCs are way different in this one compared to book one. There are a lot of mysteries and unanswered questions. The real question now is will she or the baby survive?

Great storyline

I really enjoyed the 2nd book in this series. I like seeing how attentive the guys are now, although I would have loved to have seen more grovelling from the guys after what they did in book 1. So excited for the next installment!

Stoneward Asylum, the second book of the Blackwood Five series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). I'm pretty sure this book took us out of the Academy genre, but don't let that stop you. This writer spins a great story and delivers a layered plot with plenty surprises.

Okay, it's definitely better than the first book.

Is there chemistry between them? No. Are they bonding? Just a little.

BUT I'm here for Savyn. This baby has more character than all of them combined.

Cross breeding illegally

Corruption abounds in the supposedly safest prisons. I hope that reform is made in that universe. Also I hope that the prejudices should be hammered home as unexceptable. Her father stepped up big time, her egg donor is a retch.

Aussi bon que le premier tome, cependant plusieurs coquilles auraient pu facilement être évitées par une relecture plus assidue du traducteur. Erreur qui n’était pas présente avec le premier tome.

I need the evil jerks to get so much deserved karma especially her mom because Jesus she’s evil. I don’t trust the council or their reasons something feels off about them.

DNF…this story had so much potential but there aren’t any relationships. The author tells us the characters had conversations but we never experience them.
