I’m not the villain, I just work for them. That’s how I sleep at night. The dark web and I have an intimate relationship. I’m the guy who picks his own contracts because I’m that good at what I do. Unless it’s for Marco. That dick thinks I’m at his beck and call. He’s the reason I almost lost her. Our love story may not be conventional but it’s ours. When I first saw her, it was purely a fluke. How I found her after that was not. She was in small town Oregon, living in a tiny cabin within the woods. What I did getting her could be considered insane or psychotic. Call it what you will. Love does crazy things to a man. I am Sadman23 and she is my little dove.
*This is a M/F dark stalker/primal stand-alone romance novella that does end with a HEA. Themes within this book may make some readers uncomfortable.*
Kinsley Kincaid is a long time fan of psychotic dark book boyfriends. She does not limit it to just Dark Romance but Taboo as well, yes the scandal!
She enjoys pushing boundaries, so don’t be surprised when you see this also reflected in her work. Be sure to stalk her on her socials and reader group shared with Isla Gray; Tainted N Taboo.
I shouldn’t be as enamored as I am about a stalker romance but it was beautifully executed. I finished this in record breaking speed! Carter is a dark web hacker working for the mafia, but stumbles upon pictures online of Emerson, a curvy girl from a small town, and his profound obsession becomes instantaneous. The mind games, the desire, the heat, the details, was all there! Imagination ran wild! My only complaint would be it was too short. I’ve gone to wanting a Russian Bravta leader to kidnap me and fall in love with me to wanting a hacker stalk me and fall in love with me, but I promise I don’t need anymore therapy. But, can I get a Carter Reign to go please?
The dialogue is extremely cringey and the MMC is a complete wimp. The first half was promising for the most part, but it went downhill fast from there.
I would not characterize this as particularly dark nor would I ever describe the MMC as “psychotic”.
I really enjoyed Carter and Emerson! I wish that we had more of them, but this novella hit the ground running. It's fast-paced, instalove with a side of dark.
This had a good premise, especially with an obsessed MMC/stalker and potential for danger with his job.
Unfortunately it fell flat.I don't know if this is a brand new author, But this book definitely needed a good edit for grammar and other things - a few things I think could have elevated the writing in this book:
1- the author barely uses contractions at all and it makes the writing and thoughts of the characters seem awkward and stilted.
2- A lot of the sentences were fragments or grammatically incorrect and it was distracting to read.
3 - I think this is the biggest issue I had storywise was that the author spent a lot of time telling and not much time showing. There wasn't a lot of development in the characters or their relationship or hardships they might have faced other than very base level. Carter's job had a lot of potential to cause conflict and danger which I would have enjoyed reading about. But the author basically blows past that and everything goes smoothly.
Again I do think the book has a decent premise and I was excited to read it. I hope the author is able to mature her writing and get a good editor to help her tighten it up and make things flow better in the future.
DNF @ 80%. I was liking this up to like 50%… then the H leaves and comes back 11 days later and he’s all scared and nervous bc he knows the h is gonna be mad at him for being gone.. like this dude has been stalking and chasing her in the woods, gets into her house and bangs her- and he’s scared now that she’s gonna be mad at him?!! Ughhh whyyyy make him a wimp after being hardcore lol 😆 this is written well and honestly will probably work for many people- I just prefer my guys like that.
-stalker -primal scenes -breaks in does delicous things to her -it’s got a dub con vibe but jt isn’t bc she’s all for it even though she doesn’t even know who he is -cums in her -No preg -H is a hacker -curvy h whose confident -probably an HEA but I didn’t finish so can’t be sure
This honestly felt like it was written by two diff people to me but 🤷🏻♀️ overall was good but just wasn’t for me.

I’m all for stalker romance, and I thrived on HA but this wasn’t it. The spicy scenes were good (other than the constant thrusting), the talk about accountability, and the concept was creative - the execution just wasn’t there. Unrealistically fast paced, the MMC always* thrusted violently into the FMC (as if that’s what women want all the time?), and the characters had a love that didn’t make sense bc nothing they did would indicate or prove love? The MMC was full of contradictions as well??? His character completely did a 360 at the end by becoming soft and scared whenever he’s been st@lking the FMC. SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER Like you’re really so worried about the FMC safety but allowing her to do a job when you just found out she’s pregnant? Make it make sense. Overall, eh, meh, *shrug*

"You can run, but you cannot hide from me. I will always find you."
I absolutely loved the fmc in this one holy moly - I may have even liked her slightly more than the mmc in this one 👀. This is a quick and fast paced story full of st@lking, spice, and wrapped in a hacker/possessive mmc and curvy confident fmc. I would’ve loved if this was longer to dive more into the characters and allow for that development but I did love the mind games and the spice that was involved 🥵. Kinsley Kincaid knows how to deliver with her spice and has not let me down thus far.
“I devote myself to you. You are my little dove. Then, now and always.”
🖤 age gap 💀 st@lker / hacker mmc 🖤 confident & curvy fmc 💀 cabin in the woods 🖤 degradat!on 💀 pr!mal
"Snapgram? You found me on Snapgram? And thought, what, I'm going to go find her. I'm going to basically stalk her, send her cryptic texts, break into her house and fuck her?". stalker romance where he sees her picture online, traveled to stalk and get her. It was hot but it felt rushed. I wanted more of everything, the stalking, the slow burn and her wanting it. I wasn't really feeling the MC but I love the FMC. I love the spice and it was so good. I didn't like how she accepted him so fast there was no suspense. Overall it was good but I wanted more slow burn stalking.
This book wasn't too bad. I didn't like that he literally stalked her and found out everything there was to about her. I also didn't like how he just showed up to her hometown just because he was sexually attracted to her. I love that they are able to work things out and that she accepts him for who he is and accepts his way of living. I love that she isn't scared of him anymore and how they end up together.
A novella with dark elements. check the trigger warnings.
A quick read. Fast paced dark and full of obsession.
Loved the story as a whole although it did tend to veer off course a little here and there!
The characters were likeable and I loved their dynamic…
When Carter our MMC, comes across Emerson our curvy MFC, on social media he quickly becomes besotted with her. Things take of quickly from here. It’s fast paced and an easy going read.
Not too dark. I would have loved a little more depth. But for a novella I think the author did a wonderful job.
Well written and a beautifully crafted piece of work.
Carter and Emerson!!!! Well well well!!! Ahem this is one for all the primal play, dark and just really filthy read!!! I love this novella it has the spice and darkness which we need to get you know all revved up . Thrown in some stalker vibes and you will melt reading this one. The smut oh the smut!!! Can't explain love it all you just have to read it. KK this is perfect!!
First of all, I loved the empowerment of women in this book!! Amazing 🖤🖤
Kinsley made this book so you would want your own stalker like Carter 😏
Carter is a clever IT guy who does jobs on the dark web for bad people. He comes across a women named Emerson while surfing snapgram, who is fierce and such a confident woman, immediately gaining an obsession with her. Carter starts finding any and all information on her and starts stalking and playing games with her.
The plot is very well written. The spice was good with daddy kinks thrown into the mix! Its an unconventional love story that worked for them, which i loved 🖤
Shorter read but I loved it. Reminded me of haunting adeline it had that feel to it. Stalker, games and sex. 😍😂🫶 Loved how carter called her his little dove
Carter is a hacker and Emerson is a young small-town woman. She keeps to herself and lives an innocent life on the outside. Carter finds the part of Emerson that she’s been on hiding on the internet and once he saw her, he needed to find her… and never let her go.
I was so excited to read this book. When I saw Kinsley was coming out with a stalker, age-gap, dark romance I immediately needed the ARC!! Anddd it’s a novella which I love to read in between other books. I enjoyed the female empowerment and Emerson doing what she wanted for herself. I definitely recommend it if you are in need of a quick read with primal play. The chasing scenes were my favorite. 🫠
There was just something about this story that stuck with me. I loved the women empowerment message in this stalker romance.. wasn’t expecting it and it was placed perfectly within the story. Short steamy playful read. I caught myself putting myself on the role of the main email character and felt some of the violation and fear of having someone invading my privacy. Great read highly recommend
Within the Shadow is a dark book intended for mature readers. Before reading the book, please check the triggers (see below).
This book is about Carter a 34-year-old hacker (smart and nasty) and Emerson 19-year old waitress. Carter was obsessed the second he saw a picture of Emerson. He became a - dare I say - stalker. However, our girl Emerson cannot get Carter out of her mind. They are perfect for each other.
Within the shadows is a spicy, primal & dark novella. This is the second book I've read by Kinsley Kincaid and I am excited for more.
TW/CW include but are not limited to: Primal |Age Gap |Mindf*ck Noncon |Dubcon | Choking Belts | Zip Ties | Breeding Stalking | Praise | Daddy vibes Forced Proximity | Restraints Biting | BDSM | Degradation
Ok so, This wasn’t terrible. It’s like a Wattpad quality story. It definitely needs a bit more editing. I liked the majority of the plot, but it could have been much better. The writing is very subpar, but I’ve read worse.
There’s a part where the MMC is groveling for her forgiveness and he gets on his knees and it gave me the ick. 😂 And he was too old to be acting like that. He’s like thirty-four and she’s only nineteen. Like sorry but ew. I think there’s a time and place for a good age gap romance, but a 15 year difference stalker is not it. And it just really concerns me when he is over 30 and hasn’t actually been in a relationship before. He says it’s because he didn’t want to put anyone in danger.. but he’s willing to risk it for her even though they never had an actual conversation.
This book was good. I really enjoyed Carter and Em were really good together. I loved Carter and his obsession. This was definitely a great read and I’ll be recommending!
Was this book the best written book I ever read? No, but what can you expect in a 100 page novella. I read some of the reviews prior to reading this book saying it wasn't great, it made me a little apprehensive but again.. its a novella you're not going to get in depth anything so a lot of the meat you get from a full length book will be missing. Was I entertained? Throughly. This was a nice quick read and what I expect a stalker book to be so I was not disappointed at all. Does this book need another pass through with the editors? Yes but that's ok it was still fine to read. Although this book does need some contractions it just felt a tad bit choppy without them so I just read it as if it had them (he is to he's, I will to I'll etc)
Dual first person pov Mmc Carter, 34 Fmc emerson, 19 A sneaky daddy trope
Carter is in a slump, he's a hacker for the dark web for bad people and for the last 9 months can't get it up or stay up. Frustrated he decides to browse the good old snapgram and he finds a profile of a sexy curvy faceless girl. Of course this will not do so he takes to the program he created and finds out this girl is Emerson who lives in a small town in Oregon and says "well.. guess I'm going to Oregon". Emerson is working at a diner who lives in a cabin left to her from her grandpa who raised her after her parents died when she was younger. One day a mysterious but drop dead gorgeous man walks in requesting coffee and a burger, this guy flusters her making her even more shy. That night she goes home and receives a text telling her to run.. which she does. Her stalker follows her into the woods and holds her by her neck she should be scared but surprisingly she's not. This goes on a few times and finally her stalker is revealed, will Emerson fall for this guy who just happens to be a little psychotic and accept him flaws and all?
This little novella was * chef's kiss * a little plot and a little smut together make the perfect concoction.
Emerson and Carter. Carter, the IT tech, hacker genius that keeps himself to himself. Emerson, the saucy snapgram girl, determined to make women of all shapes and sizes embrace themselves and give them the confidence to shine.
In separate parts of the country Carter finds Emersons snapgram and an obsession ensues. Then one day this tall, dark and shaggy-haired handsome man walks into the diner where Emerson works.
What follows is a game of mindfuckery. A hunter and it's prey. I loved this. Honestly it was perfect. Em is a confident and head strong young woman and Carter is brought to his knees by her. Literally.
The question is, what happens in the end. Does the Hunter capture his Prey and feast for his life? Or does he starve and wither away into nothing.
Read it and find out.

🖤 Quotes 🖤
Good girl, little dove.
I love the hunt, oh little dove. You can run, but you cannot hide from me. I will always find you.
She is panting, hard. I could listen to this forever. My own personal lullaby. Fuck, I need to record the next one.
“Do you know why I call you, little dove?” I respond in a whisper, “No.”“The dove symbolizes love, devotion, grace, purity and hope. You are that to me. I devote myself to you. You are my little dove. Then, now and always.”
I love being daddy's little cum slut, but most importantly, Carter's, little dove.
I HAVE to say first that I totally appreciate a curvy fmc & rep of thicker girls wanting to express confidence! I really loved that empowerment throughout this book.
This was a quick, dark, primal read that I enjoyed. I wanted a little bit more angst & and build-up between the two characters, but for the length of this novella, their relationship and timeline make sense. The scenes between them were dark, sexy, & hot. Even the epilogue was fantastic 🔥
Carter, a hacker for the mob, sees pictures of Emerson online and immediately decides that he HAS to have her. By any means necessary, including stalking. I love how unhinged Carter is. Emerson, a waitress in a small town & a social media influencer, empowering curvy girls all around the world. Carter has a twisted perception of "how to get the girl." He's obsessed. So get ready for the games he decides to play with Emerson 😈
"𝑶𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍𝒔 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒖𝒎."
This novella had the dark, the twisted, the suspense, and the spice. I could have definitely read more from Carter & Emerson!! 🖤
Kinsley Kincaid absolutely knocked it outta the park with her first book!!! I’m an absolute lush for a good stalker taboo romance and this was definitely a freaking good one. I can’t wait to read more books by Kinsley in the future. I can honestly see her books getting better and better with each one she writes and I will be looking out for each and every one of them.
This is Emerson and Carter’s story and let me tell you it’s intense and steamy with serious chemistry from the get go, and just gets hotter and hotter as it goes. Emerson is a woman who loves the skin she’s in and who loves to be body positive and empower other woman with her posts on snapgram. It’s her sexy post that catches Carter’s eye and he becomes instantly obsessed and has to have her in every way possible. So when he tracks her down and enters the diner she works at and sees her in person it’s when the real games begin.
If you love your stalkers obsessive, possessive, and protective, character chemistry that’s hot as sin, and several different kinks, then this is definitely one you’ve got to read. These two are a perfect match in every way. Emerson is sassy, feisty, and not afraid to make him grovel when he messes up big time. Definitely recommend this book.
𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬: 💬 Stalker (he is obsessed) ☕️ Primal play 💬 Touch her and die vibes ☕️ Hacker x diner girl 💬 Self loving curvy FMC . . . . . .
I didn’t expect to like this one as much as I did, honestly. The stalker/obsession trope is one I really enjoy but also think is becoming really popular.
But Carter was just so damn funny. I love when the mmc’s mental dialogue just cracks me up. I also love how he became obsessed with Emerson. Her self love and confidence is awesome, I love that we get a fmc who represents positivity and body acceptance.
It’s a little unrealistic how quick Emerson jumps into Carter’s demand, a complete stranger. But I think it’s supposed to show her kink. And the drama was a little lack luster to me. It wasn’t that it didn’t make sense, it did. It’s just for some reason I thought it was annoying.
But the spice? So good. Off the charts. I love dirty talk/degradation. Sign me up. And the characters were so much fun, I don’t mind the small annoyances. It’s a novella, so short and sweet. Fun if you want something spicy and dark. 💋
Let me tell you, if one of the tropes in a book is st@lker you can almost guarantee that I’m gonna read it. So let’s talk about it. 😉

Man books like this always shows me how much I’d love a hot st@lker. 😂 I don’t think that’s healthy! But if it was Carter… I’d let him st@lk me. The praise this man gave Emerson had me salivating. 🥵 And good lord, the pr!mail in this book!? Hot d@mn that was my fave part. I loved it. As you can tell I enjoyed this book! It was quick read and spicy read!
Carter makes having a stalker sound like a GOOD THING!
Carter is a bad guy who does bad things for worst guys. He's always careful, always 3 steps ahead and the best at what he does. He's been so focused on being a ghost he didn't realize how lonely and unsatisfied he'd become. Then he sees a photo of Emerson on an app and knows at first glance he has to get closer to her. Has to find her and make her his.
Emerson lives a small-town life. She works at the local diner, her best friend is her 60-year-old co-worker and in her free time, she makes sexy, but tasteful, content to empower women. Her life is easy and quiet. Until a hot stranger enters the diner and makes her hot without trying. Then she starts getting texts from a mysterious stalker. She knows what's happening is dangerous and bad, but why can't she say no when he texts her one word..."RUN."
This read is fast, short and sexy. I was very into Carter and his need to feel like an alpha. Emerson may submit to him, but she's no pushover and when Carter messes up she lets him HAVE IT.
This is totally worth the read and the perfect palette cleanser if you want dark, smutty and entertaining!
