Kinsley Kingston is your quirky stay to herself type whose family is the complete opposite and constantly trying to get her to fit in. You can only imagine how things go when she's to fly back home for the holidays for their annual Kingston Christmas party on their families estate. With no date or even hopes of having one, Kinsley is dreading facing her obsessive mother, Grace, with another let down. Until her sister, Jolie, sets her up on a date with her boyfriend's mentor, Jared. Kinsley is reluctant since all of her setups end in tragedy. But there's something about Jared Preston that intrigues Kinsley for the first time ever.
When Kinsley decides to take Jared home for the holidays, they are greeted with a surprise that could very well tear up any promise of a lasting relationship. Will Kinsley be able to hold it together in front of her family? Can she find it in herself to hold it together for Jared's sake? Or will everything come crashing down along with Kinsley's holiday spirit?
Why do parents put so much pressure on young ladies to find a significant other, and give them some grandkids? Ughh.... 🤬 Poor Kinsley was a bit quirky, and didn't easily fit in, but that is okay. There is nothing wrong with being unique and walking to the beat of your own drum. But when you have a mother like Grace, the pressure is on to find a beau. She cannot go home another Christmas without a man on her arm, or her mother will give her all the business.
Kinsley's sister Jolie has been setting her up on blind dates for months, and they all were a bust. Kinsley was content on living her life alone, cause this dating ish is for the damn birds! 😤 But one last push from Jolie to attend her company Christmas party did the trick. There Kinsley met Jared and their connection was magical. They were immediately drawn to each other and did not want to leave the other's presence. Kinsley can't believe her luck, that she may finally have someone to take home to mom.
Well.... when she gets to her parents' house, she is in for a surprise. Her mother playing matchmaker has invited someone to bond with Kinsley, as Kinsley has brought home her new boyfriend. Can we say messy? 👀 Garret was putting on the pressure too, making Kinsley question her feelings for Jared, had me heated! Don't trust it girl! My pressure is continuing to rise as it seems that Garret is getting to her, then the script flipped like a mug!! Huh??? 👀 So glad that Kinsley followed her gut and got the HEA she deserved with the "right" man. Cute read.
This was my first read from this author and I enjoyed the quick cozy romance. Kinsley and Jared meet and it’s kismet at first sight. Kinsley has to learn to trust herself and her feelings. Being new to the relationship game, Kinsley will have to make some tough decisions when a twist threatens her new relationship.
2.5 stars. I was on the fence about this for most of the story and was admittedly tempted to stop reading. Kinsley read as very naive, insecure and flaky, not to mention gullible; she was all over the place and it got annoying to read. The story started to get interesting maybe 65% in, though it still left me shaking my head. Jared was a little too understanding of the thing with Garrett and I can't imagine men that claimed to be in love just falling back like that, and even hanging out with the other guy. There were just sooo many improbabilities and I can only suspend my disbelief so much. That along with the editing and pacing is the reason for my unfortunately low rating.
Kinsley was getting in her own way. Even though her sister kept meddling in her life, she needed to wait and let it come to her. She was trying to please her mother she was rushing things. You have to take your time and learn people and stop coming up with theories about people. Good read. Really enjoyed it!!!
A spark was ignited and Kinsley finds what seems to be a lasting flames. Yet enters a blast from the past. One can only hope she makes the right decision. Looking for a quick story of love and little bit of a love triangle then read this you won’t be disappointed.
Kinsey was such a sweet soul, but she did upset me for like 30 seconds lol cause Jared was definitely her one! I’m glad everything worked out how it should’ve. This was a sweet, cute story.
Kinsley (FMC) is falling into societal & familial pressure to have a man 😩 and we all know it’s worse when it’s coming from family. She’s had a long time crush on this dude, Garret, and they’ve never acted on it. With the holidays fast approaching our girl is set to find someone to bring home to mom or else she won’t go!
Sister to the rescue! Jojo sets Kinsley up with this guy, Jared, and they hit it off. It seems like all the stars aligned until they didn’t. As Christmas approaches things are going great but leave it to her mom to throw a wrench in the plans. Now Kinsley has to navigate feelings for both men and make a choice.
Will it be the guy she’s been pinning for since middle school or the new guy who causes sparks every time they touch???
This was such a cute read and had me guessing what was next throughout the whole thing. Great work! So happy o found this during my BRAE binge 🫶🏽
It wasn’t ALL fun and games, but that was included. I was grateful for the happy ending, though it was a little bleak for a while. I wondered why the long time friend was suddenly so pushy, but never expected him to be so foul. I agree with the MMC, I too was glad that she found out before she’d wasted her time. I was sad that the mom stressed the daughter so much that she felt she had to perform, and glad the mom realized her fault in everything. It’s an interesting, short, holiday story.
Such a heartfelt story!!! It’s a hallmark Christmas movie in book form and I loved every chapter. The story flowed beautifully. It was nice to read a story where mother and daughters got along. Where they loved each other apologies when necessary. I enjoyed this read very much
I liked this story, but Kinsey's inner dialog pissed me off. She was so indecisive and confused. I wanted to jump in the book and shake her. Jared was the perfect man for her, but she almost messed it up for a childhood crush. That dang on Garrett was something serious. He was out here moving foul. I'm glad Kinsey found it out before she got invested in that fool. Overall, it was an okay book for me, but I will read other books by the author.
