THE TURNED: A Post-Apocalyptic Romance

Rate this book
Phoenix, Arizona. Lola Jenkins chooses loneliness over being burned again. And after she alienated her secret crush years ago by betraying his sister, her self-loathing follows her everywhere… even into a chance encounter with the handsome man. But as his bitter words chase her out of a sandwich shop, her day gets a whole lot worse when she runs straight into a world gone mad. Cole Beckett values courage and honor. So, although he’s still angry with the girl who hurt his family, the former marine refuses to leave her behind as they escape a city suddenly overrun by zombies. And after gathering up his girlfriend, sister, and a comrade-in-arms, he slowly thaws towards his unwanted traveling companion as he leads them through peril toward safety. Surrounded by the ever-present danger of monsters both flesh-eating and human, Lola digs deep to become a person the strong soldier can care for. But the protective Cole fights his own inner battle to choose between responsibility and falling in love. Can they flee the jaws of the hungry hordes and forge a future together? The Turned is the feverish first book in the Live and Let Live apocalyptic romance series. If you like dark humor, slow-burn relationships, and hair-raising thrills, then you’ll devour Stella Craig’s riveting page-turner.

This wasn’t great but it kept me wanting to read. At around the 50% mark I noted how unhealthy the whole relationship with Lole and Cole was and how it was toxic and boarder line abusive… i am hopeful no matter how much the characters change or grow, that she finds someone else.
