Catharsis

Rate this book
A maze of irony, with drips of sarcasm, wit, and craft, Volume 1 of Kane's poetry—dubbed Catharsis—plumbs the depths of mental health (and the lack thereof), addiction, fear, love, longing, and frustration. Kane's work is the obsidian mirror you look into at night, your black-eyed doppelganger staring back, and ultimately the scattered garbage you leave behind in the when the sun is out, the air is clean, and your long, cool breaths calm your nerves and allow you to simply move on.

Jared Kane writes for work, writes for recreation, writes to relax, for therapy, and to demystify his world—not the world. Jared is a romantic, which is the trunk of a tree with cynical branches. In his writing, Jared likes to challenge fundamental beliefs and widely held philosophies that readers may take for granted. Ultimately, Jared aims to transcend the words on the screen or page, and draw the same emotion from the reader as would a fine arrangement of music.

Jared’s writing skews dark, but not morbid. Everything has a mirror, and Jared simply uses it.
Besides, a spot of darkness brightens the dimmest light.

Kane's Catharsis is a breathtakingly beautiful collection of poetry. Divided into collections of Flesh, Blood, Fire and Ashes, each poem reads like a melodic vignette that delves deep into heart of the reader's subconscious. Filled with dark and somber tones, every piece strikes a chord with rich, visceral descriptions of life and love, longing and loss. Though the book's inscription reads: "the voice of nothing", Catharsis is, in fact, a meaningful "testament to the terminal wound of living" which resonates with everyone and anyone who has experienced life's beautiful and awful depths. Kane's work provides the soundtrack to those experiences - and a wonderfully cathartic one, at that.
