Eight to Rue
This book contains bullying and a why choose mentality, those who do not like or are offended easily should not proceed.
This is a retelling of the Christmas classic, Rudolph, only for adults and slightly more twisted.
Rue Dolph, the half elf shifter- had a very bright glow.
And all of those who saw it, they would said her elf showed.
All of the other reindeer, liked to laugh and call her names.
They never expected for Rue Dolph, to join in the Reindeer Games.
Then one foggy Christmas Eve, the legacies came to say, Rue Dolph with your glow so bright help us guide the sleigh tonight.
Then how the legacies loved her, they shouted out with glee, Rue Dolph the half elf shifter, be ours for eternity.
Rue is unlike all of the other reindeers.
Partly because she is half elf, somewhat due to her ability to glow, but mostly because she is the first female to dare enter the Reindeer Games, an important event in the North Pole that determines Santa's sleigh team.
She doesn't falter when she has to put in the work, nor does she balk when the other Reindeers bully her for her differences. But when the legacies, Dash, Dan, Pran, Vix, Met, Cue, Don and Blitz become the only thing standing in her way, will she fall under their spell, or become the reindeer she knows she was meant to be?
Between the Reindeer Games and solving the crisis of restoring the magics, Rue has her work cut out for her. The legacies will need to fall in line or get out of her way. Will they come to rue her or adore her? And will she be able to forgive them for the torment?

Did I know that I needed a Rudolph ‘why choose’ novel? No. Did I eat this shit up? Yes yes yes yes yes!
First of all, this is beautifully written. I was surprised by how well it flowed and I was immediately in love with the main character, Rue. I saw a review calling the main character a weak heroine, but I didn’t get that vibe at all. She doesn’t like conflict, but she is by no means a doormat. She’s not a timid virgin, she knows what she wants and works her ass off to get it. She is focused on surviving to graduation, and her mental health struggles were believable and heartbreaking. You bet your ass I cried multiple times along with her. She’s smart, and what is brilliant is that we’re not *told* she is smart, we are *shown* how she plays the field to come out on top.
The Eight were assholes and I wouldn’t have them any other way. They all had great chemistry with Rue, and I couldn’t help to love to hate them. Though CW for a OW scene in this book! (It’s hot though, I swear).
All the smut was fire, and completely consensual. Gotta love these assholes, they make it clear they want her ✨enthusiastic✨ consent. Though after a few of the encounters she felt conflicted, ultimately she wanted (and got) a good railing and honestly babe can’t fault you there. The guys she was intimate with during the bullying (which is light on the guys’ part) never used it against her, didn’t use it to humiliate her, and I loved that so much. (Though side note, author, if you read this! In the epilogue you say ‘edge play’ instead of ‘edging’ and they are veeeeeeery different things!)
Having a clique of stereotypical mean girls is a personal pet peeve of mine, but other than that I genuinely loved this book. Pleasantly surprised by this, would definitely recommend to ‘why choose’ romance lovers in need of a festive read!

So many emotions!
This book will put your feelings in a blender, mix them up, and reshape them throughout the story. I cried, and raged. Those boys made me wanna set their houses on fire with them still inside but they were swoon worthy by the end! It was such a good story and a definite must read!
