No Going Back

As cliches go he’s a walking talking God of them. Tall. Muscles to die for. Insanely attractive. A sporting legend. And me…. well, I’m broke, barely surviving, with the biggest jerk this side of planet earth for a boss.

One thing we do have in common is we attend the same college and Oh I should mention, a burning ambition to fulfil our dreams no matter what.
Him, the NFL. Me, a hotshot lawyer.

His problem is that he thinks he can step on nobodies like me on his way to the top. And all in the name of justice, I make sure he hits a small stumbling block on his journey into orbit. That small stumbling block being me.

You’re welcome.

This book needs some serious editing. The sentences—particularly the dialogue—were jarring from how incorrect they were. Sentences that were questions didn’t even have correct punctuation!!

Content editing would have benefited this book as well.
Example:
In the beginning, the MC had an okay relationship with her aunt. They were just poor, and then, out of nowhere, the aunt is super mean to her.

I couldn’t figure out the timeline of this book, either. She goes to the doctor, gets some birth control and BOOM, her acne is gone in a week. 👏🏻WE WISH SIS👏🏻 That was a whole other thing that needed editing.

The overall plot was okay other than the constant cliches, but we don’t read these kinds of books for originality.

Anyway, I’m happy to volunteer my editing skills for the next one

Yes I finished in a day. Lots of likes and dislikes, but I have to point out that HE SHOULD HAVE APOLOGIZED FOR WHAT HE DID. Yes she lied about her own actions which led him to his, but hasn’t the author ever heard of “I tried to hook up with someone new but I couldn’t get this girl out of my head so I couldn’t get it up so I didn’t actually get to hookup with someone else?” I didn’t want to read about him being with some rando after knowing Ebony lied about cheating!!! And then she knew he did it and we just never got closure there. Boom they’re in love and giggling like his mom hadn’t literally just died and he hadn’t been with another girl two days ago. I can’t.

First book to be read by the author Marie Rae. I really struggled to get through this book. Don't get me wrong, the story was there, the classic enemies to lovers was spot on, but honestly I just wasn't all that into it. I do encourage reader to give it a shot though.

Story has so much potential and could definitely be better as far as punctuation goes.

Ebony and Zac. 🚨

It took me days to finish this book. A similar book would take me hours to one day to finish it. I tried to set it aside several times, but then I decided to finish it. The writing is a little boring. Ebony is a boring college student studying law. Her purpose in studying law is to obtain her mother’s freedom. The mother was the victim of domestic abuse for years. Zac is a player, the star quarterback, and wealthy. Although Zac and Ebony come from opposite worlds, they can relate to their ongoing family drama. However, obviously, on one side, there is the mean cheerleader, and on the other side, Ebony's friends play different roles in Zac and Ebony's relationship. I found that Ebony is too fast in giving up Zac. Zac is too quick to think the worse about Ebony. There is little interaction between Chloe and Ebony in the book; only Chloe “hates” and stares at Ebony. There is no build-up for the hate. The storyline has no interactive action between Chloe and Ebony. As soon as Chloe has the proof that something is ongoing between Zac and Ebony, she threatens Ebony; it was so fast in the book it seems unreal. I found that the build-up relationship between Zac and Ebony is so slow and tedious that more activity is needed to keep the storyline interesting such as how Chloe attained that information, for example. The story gets more interesting toward the end with the breakup and make-up session between the two main characters. The end is fast-forward, and the epilogue is five years after. The epilogue is written all wrong I was not too fond; there is no final thought to rely on domestic abuse except that Ebony obtained her mother's release from jail. I do not understand what a star quarterback has to do with winning on the court and him kneeling to ask her to marry him—a very disgrace for not giving more thought regarding domestic abuse and a distasteful ending to the story.
