Alexey Venediktovich Kozhevnikov (Russian: Алексей Венедиктович Кожевников) Russian Soviet writer and memoirist. Laureate of the Stalin Prize, second degree (1950).
Alexei was born as the ninth child in a peasant family. In 1913 he graduated from the teacher's seminary in Kazan, for two years he worked as a teacher in a rural school.
In 1915-1917 he served as a private in the tsarist army. In 1917-1919 he taught again. In 1919-1921, as part of the Red Army, he took part in battles on the Eastern Front and near Astrakhan.
In 1922 he moved to Moscow and until 1924 worked as a teacher-educator at the Central Reception for Homeless Children. Studied at the Bryusov Literary and Art Institute.
He has been engaged in literary work since 1925. In search of material for his books, he traveled a lot throughout the Soviet Union, trying to depict socialist construction throughout the country. He has published several novels and a large number of stories: "The Golden Nile", "Tourmaline-stone", "The Seekers", "Tansyk"; stories "The Way to a Happy Country", "Strike", "At the Stone Mane". The novel “Living Water” is “an average work of socialist realism with an impeccably positive hero, who achieves success in testing a new irrigation system in Khakassia, overcoming difficulties - however, very far-fetched. The novel serves to promote the decree of the Central Committee of the CPSU "On the rise of agriculture in the post-war period" and prepares the introduction of the irrigation system in question without fail.
