Flynn Patrick has somehow travelled back in time, and arrived right in the middle of the betrothal party- and right underneath the escaping bride to be. Melisande St. Clair is running away to avoid her impending marriage to Lord Bellingham, and decides to take pity and trust the madman that claims he's from the future. It's only after an adventure of a lifetime and a scandal that won't quiet down that Flynn and Melisdane realize that there is a power greater than themselves at work.
This is a well thought out time travel a little different plot, really enjoyed it. Loved that it was the hero that time travelled which made a nice change.
I have no idea what induced me to buy this title. The cover art is horrendous. I must have found something intriguing in the description, however, and I am glad I did. This book was surprisingly compelling. I thought the author wrote extremely well. Great flair, great, tight plot. I just loved this hero. Usually in this genre, it is the heroine traveling through time, but I enjoyed having the hero thrust from present day into the past. The sections from his point of view were my favorite. The author had a great sense of humor, too. Sometimes romance authors try very hard to be humorous and simply aren't, but this author nailed it. I would recommend this to someone looking for a decent time travel romance with a great hero and just enough steam to keep me happy!
I didn't expect much of this at all but it was actually a very enjoyable read with a sweet HEA. The majority of the story is really about Flynn and his POV, which is good because actually he is the more interesting, although we do see Melisande's POV too at times. Her snobbishness is quite annoying but probably relatively realistic for the circumstances, but she kind of makes up for it with her changed behaviour later.
Firstly, let’s admire this incredible cover. I know if I was prancing around my garden at night and a naked man jumped out of my fountain, that’s not the face I’d be making. Worth noting when this scene occurs in the book, he’s fully clothed, so the cover is purely gratuitous (that’s a positive). The book itself had some fun crazy sauce, but the characters were tough to love. The heroine was spunky and determined, but also a big snob. Kind of hard to hold that against her since she was raised that way, but unpleasant nonetheless. The hero was a misogynist - he basically hated all the women in his life including his girlfriend and mother. When he goes back and time and realises that all the patriarchal bullshit the heroine has to deal with, he gets a little better. But then he’s lamenting that he wishes she was ugly so she was easier to leave. What a peach. I was entertained by the plot, but overall I’m glad we’ve moved on from this era of book.
This was the second time travel book I'd ever read. I didn't even really want to read it. I orderd a book through one of those book clubs and got five free. I felt there was nothing to choose from and just picked somethings I would have never paid money for on my own. Boy was I in for a suprise. With this story and Sandra Hill's Frankly My Dear coming by mail in the same box, I was in for a treat and some much need laughter and fun.
