Hailey North is a USA Today bestselling author who began writing while employed as a “game show lawyer” for NBC Studios. Tired of hearing lawyers weren’t creative, she quit her job and typed “Chapter One” (not the chapter, just the heading!). Since that day, North has penned eleven romantic comedies, set in her adopted hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana, in her favorite imaginary town, Doolittle, Arkansas, and in her very own version of Purgatory. Her three-book “afterlife” series (The Diva, The Billionaire and The Hero) celebrates creative, but accidentally dead, characters trying their darnedest to win a second chance at life. North lives in Louisiana with her husband, her food-centric Labrador Shelby, and her three kindred spirit felines, Ali Kat, Rosa Pax, and Max the Cat Who Thinks He's a Dog. This is a light, gentle little read that is easy to zip right thru.. The take away message is love and make believe make dreams come true. And isn't that a happy ending?
2.5⭐️ - easy read, a lot of it was just way out there. I also wish the title secret was brought more to life in the book, pillow talk is such a cute idea for kids & dreams.
I first read Pillow Talk back in high school in the early 2000s, so this book likely dates back to the early '90s. I recently decided to revisit it, and I didn’t realize just how quick of a read it was. The cover, however, is completely misleading compared to the content inside!
The story is set in New Orleans and centers around the prominent old-money Pointhier family—a group filled with the kind of drama you’d expect from the best daytime soap operas. Both Parker and Meg are navigating their own uncertain futures: Meg with her family’s struggles and Parker with his.
The plot is packed with events—there’s a wedding, a death, intrigue, gold-digging schemes, and a wonderful sense of found family woven throughout. It has all the elements of classic drama and suspense.
That said, this book definitely feels dated, and I think it would really shine with a modern rewrite. Even so, I thoroughly enjoyed revisiting it and will always cherish having it on my bookshelf.

I actually thought this was a pretty good book, though it was slow getting started. I was constantly wondering how everything was going to work out. It's an easy read with enough twists to make it interesting. The front cover does boast that it's "fast and funny". I don't remember anything particularly funny about the book, so if you're looking for a good laugh, this is not it, but it is a nice, light book if you just want to read something for once where there's not something terrible happening. It is a great romance read with some nice erotic scenes as well.
