Atsushi Ōkubo ( 大久保篤), also romanized as Atsushi Ohkubo, is a Japanese manga author and fantasy artist known for his work on the manga series Soul Eater, which has been adapted into an anime. Okubo worked as an assistant under Rando Ayamine, on the manga series Get Backers. He also created artwork for various cards for the Lord of Vermillion game.
Atsushi Ōkubo was not a model student and was more attracted to drawing than to learning. At the age of 20, after finishing studies at a manga school where he met Rando Ayamine, the author of Get Backers, he became Rando Ayamine's assistant for two years. Finally, he won a competition at Square Enix's Gangan magazine with his first manga series B.Ichi and it was published for four volumes. After the end of his last manga, he created Soul Eater, still for Square Enix's Gangan magazine, which brought him worldwide success.
I really liked the whole book. The great fight between Dragon and Arthur finally comes to an end. Despite being super absurd, it was one of the best and enjoyable fights I've ever read. Our main boy Shinra comes back as well. I also liked that Kurono is getting more screen time. The doppelgangers continue to appear and the cataclysm is still there. I'm curious about the new doppelgangers and how our heroes are going to handle all of this apocalyptic situation. I'm sure we'll lose a couple of people but the series is coming to an end, I can feel it.
ok i’m back on board with this doppelgänger shit after the idea that they’re the manifestation of how the world sees you but it is ironic that the author wrote “is this how people see me… it’s like some kind of homicidal maniac written by a third-rate screenwriter…” when his characters are coming off as third-rate. i want to be so much more invested than i am cuz everyone is flying in and out of the story so easily & shō did a complete 180. some more depth & development was all i needed
The first half was AMAZING! The fight between Arthur and Dragon comes to an end and it's probably my favourite fight from the whole manga. The art was incredibly well done, i loved the attention to details and some of the panels were more than beautiful. The second half good but it fell short compared to the first one, i would've loved for volume 31 to be all about Arthur and Dragon. Still, good story development and i wasn't expecting what happened at the end, i loved it.
Arthur still my favourite character and this volume shows (once again) why. Also, Benimaru is here and that's always good news for me.
Overall: I could've given this 5 stars but the second half of the volume, though not bad at all, wasn't as good.
The ending of the Arthur and Dragon fight is also really ridiculous but the real show was seeing Shinra and Sho fighting along side each other. It is so heartwarming seeing them standing side to side and helping each other. Also some really great foreshadowing of what the next round of fights will be as the White Clads summon new Doppelgangers to the real world. I do like that the focus is not really about survival but keeping hope alive as it fits with the themes going with humanities collective unconscious and the power of symbols.
Combattimenti sempre più assurdi...la luna a poche centinaia di metri dalla terra? Normalissimo...dovrebbe esserci uno tsunami come minimo no? Niente invece....ma dopotutto Arthur ha un anello che gli fa respirare nello spazio XD! Cosa vuoi che sia la scienza?

The final of Dragon vs Arthur is so full of psychological and philosophic points that's absolute gold. Also the end withy the first fight vs doppelgangers is amazing. The Shinigami shine on
Arthur and Dragon go to space to continue their fight because it will be destroyed if they stay on earth. After a long battle, Arthur finally wins. The book was able to keep me wanting to read more and more to find out what happens. I really enjoyed this volume because it shows Arthur's character development from the first volume."And so he endeavors to enjoy such a thing as death. (Ohkubo 52) I'd really recommend the Fire Force Series because even though it's a manga it's still able to display strong emotion and meaning behind it.
