I am Princesa Fiona Sullivan Ní Lir, stormborn Fae. Power permeates my blood. Lightning answers my call. I've proven myself over and over again. So why do the men in my life insist on treating me like I can't defend myself? Like I'm a liability instead of a force to be reckoned with?
I'm sick of it. And I'm going to prove them wrong.
When the archaic vampiric council, the Conclave, summons me to stand trial, I think it's my time to shine—until I'm thrown into a windowless cell to await execution. But if I've learned anything, it's that Fate throws curveballs. And this time, She doesn't disappoint. There's someone else down here with me, someone my mother the Seer warned me about.
And this someone is the key to defeating Morrighan once and for all.
I enjoyed this book and how the FMC found her true identity and still stayed the same as before. She was herself and didn't gain that self imposed importance like she is the best of everything.
This was a culmination of many different schemes by different supernatural factions and it was very deadly. Of course, Fiona has the help of friends and allies

I love this series. Do I think, maybe, Laura can do no wrong as a writer? Well, yeah. But seriously, the Ascension series feels fresh and new and the world she's built feels so genuine, so real. And one of the things I love most is how truly badass Fiona is and how she's constantly growing. And her relationship with Connor is consistently changing and getting stronger. And even though she has her crowd, her people, she gets things done on her own. I can't wait to see what happens next.
