In Arcadia, they say, no one can escape the hand of Fate.
In the frozen city of Windhelm, the crown of Arcadia’s Winter Kingdom, the Royal Selection reigns supreme. This competition pits the best of Winter’s young Fae against each other, forcing them to take part in a series of trials, each deadlier than the one that came before it.
The prize?
A soul-bond with the heir to Winter’s throne, and the right to marry them.
It sounds wonderful, doesn’t it? Each of the Selection’s competitors has spent years training, honing their abilities to become the best that Winter has to offer. Whoever wins would be the perfect match for any Royal.
Only I’m Windhelm’s Princess, heir to the throne, and I'm not marrying anyone just because they tell me to.
The Daughter of Ice and Moonlight is a thrilling spin-off to Katerina's hit fantasy romance series, The Coldest Fae! If you loved those books, then you're going to love these even more, as we go back to Arcadia and turn another page in the story of the Winter Kingdom!

*Thoughts*
Lost is the first installment in author Katerina Martinez's The Daughter of Ice and Moonlight. This is a spin-off from the authors The Coldest Fae series, but set 20 years after the ending. This series once again focuses on the Winter Court in Arcadia. (20-year old) Princess Amara Wolfsbane is the daughter of Queen Dahlia Wolfsbane of Windhelm, aka the White Wolf, and King Cillian Wolfsbane of Windhelm. Amara is half human, half fae, and can shift to a 4 legged wolf just like her mother, and brother Radulf. Amara doesn't like the fact that she has no say in what happens to her future.
I went into this book so excited to see old friends, and now I have new friends to add to the list. I love Valerian and Amara, and their journey is quite an interesting one. I really can’t say a great deal about that, but I will say that I feel so much for poor Amara, and I’m hoping we’ll find out exactly how we got to where we are. This book has a very YA/NA feel to it, which isn’t my favorite, but I am still intrigued by the book and what’s happening anyway. If you miss Arcadia, and its inhabitants, give this one a try; you won’t be disappointed. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
I haven't read the previous books, but this one grabbed me.
Amara never knew that her rebelliousness could bring so much darkness into her life. Valerian seems to be the light that will help guide her on the wild journey she unwillingly accepted.
We have so much left to see of this couple and this world may or may not be their salvation. We will find out in the next book.
Oh wow! Like what can I say? Amara is such a great character, super stubborn and headstrong. While you can tell Valerian is the more mature of the two. I think they will balance each other out well as the series progresses. I’m really excited to be reading about Arcadia again. I also found it really fascinating to read from the perspective of the person who is an observer of the games vs a participant. This book was extremely well done and I can’t wait to see where the journey takes Amara and Valerian next!
I read the ‘Coldest Fae’ series just to get ready for this book. It has all the scheming and intrigue of the original series and takes it all up a notch. The characters we fell in love with are all here, but some twenty years have passed and they’re not exactly the same people they were then. (I’ll leave you to figure out for yourself if that’s a good thing or a bad one.) Amara is the perfect blending of her parents, much to their chagrin: stubborn, independent, opinionated. Chafing against the same selection process that plagued her parents, is it any wonder that things go spectacularly sideways? This story led me on a merry chase, and I’m completely hooked now. I can’t wait to find out what’s going to happen next. I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.
I absolutely love visiting Arcadia and was so excited to hear there would be a spin off series featuring Amara the daughter of Cillian & Dahlia. The trials are once again upon us and this time it is Amara’s hand they are fighting for and she is not best pleased with the whole process. Amara is such a strong character, likeable and an absolute rebel, Valerian we don’t know much about at the moment just that he has a connection to our princess and is joining her on this incredible journey. It was fantastic to see old friends and also to make new ones along the way and I have to say at times I was on the edge of my seat, praying things would go right for them!! It’s an incredible start to what looks to be an amazing series and I cannot wait to read the next book! Fast paced, action packed, beautiful and descriptive world building, your heart will be racing as this adventure takes off.
To say this book was delightful would seem underwhelming. From the first page, being back in Arcadia not only felt like a homecoming for the readers, but for the author as well. The world building flowed and caught your attention, so if you are like me - I could not leave until the VERY LAST PAGE. I loved revisiting Windhelm and the Kingdom of Winter, as well as all the mystery that comes with it. I am a fan of reading books tied into each other with character recognition and continuation of beloved characters’ stories. Perhaps it’s the Christmas season, however, the storyline definitely gives “It’s a Wonderful Life” vibes and I am so here for it! Cannot wait to get to know Valerian more! XO

And we're back! The doors to Arcadia have opened once again, this time to tell Princess Amara's story. Lost, is a fast paced start to the series that will have you keep turning the pages until your done and left wanting more. You get to see some old friends from Windhelm as well as meet new characters that you'll love, and love to hate. The world continues to build and the details really make you feel as though you've stepped into Arcadia and are watching the story play out through Amara's eyes. Lost is thrilling, adventurous, rebellious, with love, loss, and newfound courage. A great read and I can't wait to see what will happen next!
I'm so thrilled that Katerina Martinez has continued the story of the Winter Fae! Amara, daughter of Cillian and Dahlia Wolfsbane, King and Queen of Windhelm and the Winter Kingdom of Arcadia, is to be the prize in the next Royal Selection, and she wants no part of it. Not a bar of it. In her wolf form, she loves nothing more than running free an finding adventure. But fate is a tricky thing that can't be tricked... or can it? And what story would be complete without a sexy champion? Enter Valerian, the reluctant competitor for Amara's hand.
Full of twists and turns, this book will take you on an adventure full of action and magick. A definite must read!
LOVED THIS BOOK! im so happy to be back to Arcadia! its a new season! new chapter and now its up to a rebel princess to change the rules! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE ITTTT!!! Some good choices and some bad choices were made and now!? let the hunt begin!! Eeek! ps#ValerianIsmine🫠
Katerina continues to find that magickal way of whisking the reader away to unique worlds of magick, mystery and realms before unknowable. Her attention to legends and history is one of the ways and another is her wholly relatable characters. A must read for pure entertainment.
I really enjoyed this book. I read it in one sitting! I couldn’t put it down. I loved returning to Arcadia and seeing characters from a previous series. I’m eagerly awaiting the next book to see what happens with Amara, Valerian and Tallin! Thank you, Katerina Martinez! Your books are the best! Love the start of your other series Fall of the Lightbringer too!
I HATE when authors turn past characters into parents in a spinoff series, only to have them act in conflict with who their character used to be or erase all the growth they went through. Both Dahlia and Cillian are being completely unreasonable and seem to have taken several steps back in character growth.

Well, this is an amazingly wonderful story. We get to go back to Arcadia, with Amara and Valerian. I am really enjoying their story, and I am excited for more. I Loved It!!! I recommend for those who love a great Fae story! No spoilers!
I enjoyed going back to Arcadia and seeing Dahila and Cillian again. Amara is very free spirited like Dahlia and stubborn like Cillian. I love Tallin and especially him and Amaras friendship. Can’t wait to see more of Valerian and Amara together. Can’t wait for book 2.
I love it, I was really happy to come back to this world in this spin off and I was not dissapointed. I like Amara and I can't wait to read what will happen next!
