“No, i psychí mou. I am not a dream.” He told her softly, touching the bare skin of her arms and his eyes widened in wonder and discovery.
As he ran his warm, soft, but slightly calloused hands cautiously up her arms, she was shocked into a state of apperception, and went quite still. Her teal-colored eyes widened also and locked with his amber ones. She was confident that she had never set eyes on him, but she was sure that she knew this man. Like she knew herself.
Leila Sutton thought she was a normal wife and young mother. All she ever wanted was to give her children a safe, stable, loving home. Then the Change started and He entered her life. He spoke to her heart and soul like no man had before and took her to heights of passion that she hadn't known existed. For him she broke all her rules. But, would she have to sacrifice her soul to protect her children?

This is a paranormal vampire romance about a woman who finds out that she is from a long line of genetic vampires - but only after she finds herself transforming into a vampire and finding her vampire mate. The book is about her struggle and her internal journey and how it effects her life, marriage, and children.
At it's core, The Choice is about love and life. It is about relationships between people. The betrayals of those who are supposed to care about you, the sacrifices that you make for what's most important to you, the lengths that you will go to in order to protect your family and how you react to both failures and triumphs.
It's about the struggle over who we love, what we choose, and how we react to those things that are beyond our control and ultimately what we will sacrifice to protect those dearest to us. This is the first novel in what is going to be a series about these characters and this family of vampires. This is a 'world building' novel as it details the family of vampires, but can be read as a single standalone novel. 🕶🕶🕶It is an adult novel as it has coarse language, violence and steamy sexual scenes.🕶🕶🕶 #VPNightshade #TheChoice
This book was a very interesting read, to say the least. I wasn’t expecting the density of it- as most bodice-ripping paranormal books written nowadays are written fast and with one thing in mind. This book had it all- a true and real story line. Characters with back stories and character development. I was thrown by the writing a little bit, I mean I liked it, but it seemed kind of off. The mistakes: it was hard to tell if they were intentional or not, and the complexity of the read (which is why I say it’s so dense) made it slow- I never read slow and rarely does a book control my speed like this one did.
I liked it. Good story. I have a lot of questions for the author and her thought process on writing it- but still, it was a good read.
This story was incredible, exciting, entertaining and just WOW!!!. It makes you feel and think of your own mortality. I can't wait to read the next book!!. V.P. is a FANTASTIC storyteller and is a PHENOMENAL writer!!!.
The author has done an outstanding job writing this storyline, the main characters & supporting characters are superb. The emotions are so intense, the descriptions of all the scenarios are as if you're there watching everything & feeling every moment. I am thrilled there's a 2nd book. Thank you author so very much for sharing your amazing talents regarding your stories.
Born-again vampires. What a concept. I’ve read born vs. created vampires tropes before but this book delves into an actual unexpected turning so it's pretty interesting. I’m barely into the book and have noted quite a few typographical and grammatical errors (i.e. your s/b you’re and cum misused when it should be come, although not in every instance) Despite these annoyances, I plan to soldier on to find out what happens.
As in a review of a different book, I’m using the phrase, “It’s all Greek to me” but this time it’s literal. I guess their origin is a nice change from Transylvania. Note: There are translations at the end of the book but of course it was too late to assist me as I’d already finished reading by then.
Well developed characters and you get a good sense of the MC’s emotions and what motivates them to act the way they do. I’m personally not loving Leila and find her pretty shallow. She somewhat redeems herself in her love for her sons but I find her almost as selfish as her aunt in some respects.
I didn't love parts of this book. But that was just me. I don't like to do spoilers but feel I must do a little one here so if don't want to know just skip the next sentence. I hated when it seemed she would have to leave her young children. In the end I really like this book and can't wait to start the next!
Although a bit long winded and I sometimes had to speed read through, it's still a fabulous story 😃. I'm really hoping that there is more to this story and our main characters finally connect 😍. Thanks V.P., I'm truly looking forward to reading more 🤓.
Addictive, even had my husband jealous of my reading time! Loved the characters, found myself asking why(?), only to turn around and understand completely why(?). We are all just human after all, with definite human tendency’s. Highly recommend!
Nichola and Leila. This was an interesting take on a vampire and their fated mate. For me this was a slow read. But I pushed to finish it and was surprised by the ending. You have a vampire that finds his mate when she’s a child. He has been waiting years for her to grow up and mature into a woman. She does not know that she comes from a long line of vampires and will eventually become one. She lived a human life, married and had kids. Her mate comes for her and she loves him. But she cannot leave her two young sons whom she loves above all else.
Her husband has been a jerk throughout their marriage. But in between her meeting her mate and falling in love with him, her husband comes to realize he loves her too. She sacrifices her love for her mate and stays to raise her sons. She also wants to help them if they transition into vampires. She was never told about her family’s history or anything about her fated mate.
This story is thought provoking and has you putting yourself in the Leila’s shoes. I will read the next book in this series. I’m hoping to everyone will eventually get their HEA. Hopefully the second book will move along at a different pace.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I like the premise, the characters (with one or two exceptions) and the story as a whole, but one complaint: its too long. There are a lot of side stories that just are not necessary. They don’t advance the plot at all and seem like filler. Some of the grammar is very awkward, sentence structure that is quite weak and some of the narrative rambles off into the ether.
Generally, I like this story and I’ll read the follow up to see what happens. I can recommend this with reservations. The author put a great deal of work into this story and thats why I’m giving it 3 stars instead of two.
First book I've truly enjoyed in a very long time. It is not your typical vampire romance of insta love and HEA. Full of controversy, suspense and romance. Spoiler ALERT - a mother's love for her children is the greatest love.
This book deserves more than just 5 stars. This was absolutely the best read I've had in quite a while. This is a whole new take on the vampire world. I can't believe this was her first book. I can't wait for the sequel!
This book was a thoroughly enjoyable roller coaster. The characters were flawed and very interesting. The plot was not formulaic at all. I recommend this book. I hope this author writes another one.
At 1st I was a little bit skeptical because the book started off slow. I was starting to get mad that I paid money for it but then it started to get so good and I just couldn't put it down. I read it in 2 days I'm so glad I spent the money it was well worth it
the best part of The Choice is how it ultimately does come down to a love triangle. and poor Michael! not only to realize how much he loves his wife when’s at the point of leaving him for vampire Nichola, but then to have to contend against Nichola’s supernatural “abilities”!
I give this book a solid one star. I hate giving books one star, but in this case, I would be doing a disservice to readers of paranormal romance if I gave it more.
To me, an unforgiveable sin is info dumps, and the first chapter is one huge info dump. To be honest, 99.9% of the first chapter could be removed and it would have no effect on the story. The first chapter is spent describing what horrible, low-lifes her last two husbands were. The problem is that this has absolutely nothing to do with the story. It is possible that the author was trying to explain and rationalize why Leila (protagonist, I think) would leave her second husband and father of her children for a vampire. However, there are a million different ways that could have been accomplished without the boring and irrevelant info dump.
I am a healthcare worker and expect any medical references in a book will at least be semi-accurate. It was quite obvious that the writer has little knowledge of how a hospital works and did little, if any, research, and it really shows in her writing. The second chapter goes on and on and on about a hospital stay after falling. There was just no need. I found my eyes rolling so far into my head, I had to take a break in order to keep reading. I mean geez.. as attentative as the nurses and doctors were, you could easily mistake the protagonist as the president of the United states.
Then there is the telling and "NO" showing. This made a novel that was already suffering very painful to read. Then there is the problem with "point of view." It was quite common where the point of view would be switched mid-paragraph. If someone tells me that it is the author's creativity at play. I will say hogwash.
In summary, the book is more of a first draft than a completed novel. The plot is a hidden gem that is ruined by bad writing.
I wish the author would take the time to rewrite the story keeping in mind the elements of writing a "good book."
I want to like the book. In the beginning I enjoyed it than the book drag and drag with no destination. Soon it start to get good, Michael happen. For the life of me I couldn’t understand the resolution. It made no sense even in epilogue two book still seem unfurnished and no resolution. I really want to like the book but couldn’t,
