Solid advice for Buddhists practitioners following a monastic lifestyle. Those not so inclined may prefer reading one of Longchen Rabjam's SEVEN TREASURIES entitled, "The Precious Treasury of Pith Instructions." [ISBN-10: 1-881847-42-X; ISBN-13: 978-1-881847-42-7] The latter being a compendium of lists of advice on various topics too numerous to mention.
Although written from a monks perspective, the "advices from the heart" of lonchenpa provide gentle words of wisdom and help for orientation of life in general. The commentaries of Namkhai Norbu are excellent in terms of connecting the advices to situation and circumstances we experience in modern daily life. Especially practitioners of buddhism may find great value in this read.
