A sequel to Soul's Choice. When eighteen-year-old Amy Clarke-Grant dies, leaving behind her husband and twin babies, she discovers it is not the end. Predeceased by her parents, Amelia and Jason, Amy is astonished to find them where she does. Her family calls to her from this brand new world, the In Between, and from Earth, where danger lurks. Throw in a mystery pal waiting to welcome her to the afterlife and Amy's plate is full. The Soul Must Go On picks up where Soul's Choice left off. What will become of Amy now? Will she be able to rise to the challenges and fix what needs to be fixed? Or will she once again succumb to her flaws and let everyone down... including herself?
Death took a very short holiday for the Clarke family—mother and writer, Amelia is tragically killed in a car crash, hubby Jason dies of a heart attack, and depressed daughter Amy, a newly wed mother to twins, ends up newly dead, resulting in a spiritual reunion no one expected! Their family souls are united briefly in the afterlife beyond, until Amelia is whisked into her new world to start another life chapter…leaving Jason and Amy behind once again to deal with the aftermath of her loss.
We’re taken to another world where Amelia/now Lizzy, deals with the recurring memories of her past life and visualizing the auras of those she meets. She must be cautious; these memories and aura assessments don’t fit well in the futuristic society where uniqueness is not tolerated. Soul Jason mourns for his beloved—will their love endure the test of time and unite them once again? Soul Amy carries the guilt of her overdose demise and tries to settle business back on Earth to ensure the happiness and wellbeing of her twins. Danger lurks in her former life, will she be able to prevent further tragedies?
Author Davidson takes us on a brilliant journey in the afterlife as we follow the travails of soul Amy, her soul father Jason and soul mother Amelia as they try and let go of their Earthly past and begin new lives in their next living assignment. This sequel to Soul’s Choice takes the characters on a journey of growth, patience, and forgiveness in the spiritual plane, with many unexpected twists and turns. I found this book to be enlightening and filled with the promise of hope and the bonds of love in the afterlife. The unique storyline is visionary and expertly told, giving the reader an emotion packed journey as to what comes next, and the hope that endures for all of us. The Soul Must Go On is an inspirational read, highly recommended!
If you've read Soul's Choice, (and if you haven't, what are you waiting for?), you likely think you know what to expect from its imaginative, superbly written follow-up.
And you'd be right, sort of, in that the book picks up much where the last one left off. But this book builds on the previous one in every conceivable way, taking the story to all-new heights, depths and even worlds. Kerri Davidson has taken this opportunity to delve more deeply into her unique presentation of the afterlife and rebirth and the storyline and characterizations are somehow even richer this time around.
We see Amy grapple with the choices she made while coming to terms with (and in some way shaping the lives of) those she left behind. Meanwhile, the first book's protagonist, Amelia, has her own challenges ahead of her in a new life and a new world entirely distinct from our own. And of course there's the question of what comes next for all of them, and how or even if their respective challenges will resolve.
Like Soul's Choice, The Soul Must Go On is such a unique reading experience! Every plot thread is handled with heart and thoughtfulness and woven together into a book as inspirational as it is entertaining. It's no easier to describe than the first book was, but it is (if possible) even easier to recommend. Give it a read!
Well, this was a fantastic read. The Soul Must Go On continues from the novel Soul's Choice, and there's so many fun concepts and surrealism that appears in this sequel. The characters all play their part on different worlds, yet they all have one strong connection: family and togetherness. There's so much to unpack with this story, and it's such a blast to dig into the plot development. If you're a fan of Soul's Choice, you'll love this sequel. It's another fantastic work from Kerri Davidson that definitely makes the reader look outside the box and get lost into the concepts of what it truly means to be human.
Loved this continuation of The Soul’s Choice, though it’s hard to describe without spoilers!
Our reality is not the only one, and which reality/world, you get to go to next is not up to you. As if that’s not terrifying enough, you may remember your previous life, causing your current family to label you as a problem. I hope that’s vague enough. Amy and her parents go through painful transitions, lose and find love, and learn that thankfully, no difficult situation is permanent.
Even better than Book 1, I highly recommend you read The Soul Must Go On. Though once you’ve finished you may forever distrust the afterlife, at least you’ll have a heads up!
A good follow-up of the first book, The Soul's Choice. Imaginative, deals with issues we ALL struggle with (love, betrayal, anger/rage, depression/hopelessness, feeling abandoned, etc.), edited well, and an all-around story of what a family means.
I didn't think anything could top the first book, but this one did! Science fiction, paranormal, stories with heart... if you like any of these this book is for you! It takes you on a rollercoaster through new, original worlds. You'll laugh. You'll cry (mostly happy tears.) You'll root for characters you never thought you'd like. Cannot wait for the next one :D
