Little Red #1

Scarlet Disaster

Rate this book
My name is Lou, but I’ve been known by many names over the years. The junkie’s daughter. The teen bride. The Internet knows me as Scarlet, but in real life, I’m just Lou.

Scarlet is desired. She knows how to flirt, how to seduce, how to win. But Lou… well, I guess I’m still trying to figure that out. After a wake up call with a client that made me realize I was not leading my best life, I decided to make some changes. Stop living online. See the world beyond Fairbanks. Explore.

Except my ex-client isn’t taking ‘no’ for an answer, and there are three new guys in town for the winter who insist on coming to my rescue. And all of them are keeping secrets.

Secrets that might explain what bright eyes they have. And what sharp teeth they have. And what big packages they have...

Scarlet Disaster is book one in the Little Red Duet. It is a medium burn reverse harem, loosely inspired by Little Red Riding Hood, for readers age 18+

This duet mentions characters from the Three Bears Duet, but can be read as a standalone.

I love this author's writing, she is funny and can really create a believable character and her heroines are the best, really. I loved all three of the heroes, they were different and interesting enough to stand out each on their own.

I was delighted to see all the characters from the previous duet again, thoughthe story itself wasn't all too exciting. Something was missing for me and things felt a little too forced. I'm still gonna finish book 4 because now I'm totally invested.

By the way, I love how this author writes her female characters!! No catiness, a lot of mutual support, a lot more of general badassery. Gimme more.

I'm loving this Cheeky Fairy Tales series of Ms. Rhodes's. Scarlet Disaster is the first book in Lou's duet and I enjoyed this one just as much as the first duet of the series (each duet does stand-alone although have interconnected characters). This story was just right with chemistry, humor, tension, action, steam, and suspense. I was completely engrossed and flipping pages.

Lou (also known as Scarlet to her followers) is trying to turn over a new leaf. She was burned in a situation and she's using the learning opportunity to change her life and follow her dream of traveling. She's trying to make several changes at once and one part of Lou's character that I appreciated was how she struggled with balancing who she was as Lou with who she was as her Scarlet persona. She was a mix of confident, vulnerable, sassy, a little lost at times, and trying to find her groove. Lou's also trying to get an ex-client to grasp that she wants nothing to do with him anymore.

In the midst of this, Lou meets three men who she's individually attracted to and they're all hiding that they're shifters. Nate, Gabriel, and Brooks are each good guys at heart though and I can see each one being amazing for Lou once they can be open and on the same page. It's dangerous for humans to be exposed to the paranormal and despite the guys trying to protect Lou, they often end up messing up because of their secrets. This is a multi-POV book and it's necessary to get a feel for what the guys are thinking with how often they put their feet in their mouths in their efforts to do what they think is right. There are still sweet moments, bonding, and some steamy times setting the stage for the relationship.

Scarlet Disaster does end on a cliffhanger and it's a doozy with some possibly huge implications. I'm anticipating all the awesome that will be book 2!

I didn’t want to put this one down! The story is fun and I liked the characters a lot.

I wanted to address a few things I saw in other reviews that were sorta misleading. First, a bunch of reviews really hated on Nate and called him a douche, but I didn’t get that vibe at all. He does something weird from Lou’s perspective and in her POVs everything from then on is her giving him a hard time and him refusing to elaborate because he can’t say anything, in his POV it’s clear that he’s extremely upset about this. Poor guy is stuck between a rock and a hard place. If you’re delaying reading because you think Nate is going to be a jerk from the reviews I promise it’s not that bad.

I also saw points off for the cliffhanger and someone saying they’re mad about book 2 being so far off. Preorder dates are often set far in advance, but the books typically come out much sooner. And yes there’s a cliffhanger, but thousands of books have them and it’s not something to punish an author for 🙄. The series is a duet, duets almost always have some kind of cliffie between the two. This one is a bit of a doozy because it happens mid-scene so if you can’t handle that and you’d rather wait for both books to be published then wait.

If you've never read a book by Colette Rhodes, don't be like me and sleep on them. Go pick up any you can get your hands on and enjoy. Just make sure you carve out enough time because you will want to binge read them all.

Based on the little information we learned about Lou and Nate in Ria's book (Three Bears duet) I wasn't sure what to expect with this book, but I LOVED it. I am so excited for the next book.

My thoughts:
-Colette is killing me (but in a good way) with her evil author cliffhangers. First with Run Riot and now with this one.
-effing Frank. Ugh.
-Poor Nate struggled so hard with miscommunication in this book. Boy needs a class on talking to women or something. He's not a bad guy so I really hope he gets some redemption early on in book 2.
-While I did not relate to her in all aspects, I found Lou to be a pretty relatable FMC and enjoyed her humor.
-I loved Gabriel and Brooks.
-Loved how we got a lot of chapters from the guys POVs, especially since it showed that we shouldn't hate poor Nate.

Couple of issues:

-I dislike the heroine’s logic, she acts too dismissive about the danger she is in.

-One of the men hurts her with avoidance because he is too attracted to her. I hate that dynamic. Like, that’s not a reasonable way to deal with feelings to me.

3.5 - 4 stars!

Scarlet Disaster is the first book in the Little Red duet and features Lou and her shifters Noah, Brooks and Gabriel. Lou has decided that her alter ego, Scarlet needs to be shelved for awhile since one of her admirers tainted her cam business and continues to bug her. Lou wants to do and see things and plans on executing her plans of the future she wants. In being the new Lou, she meets three men who have secrets that they aren’t disclosing but she is attracted to them as much as they’re attracted to her.

“The other part of my brain that was actually my vagina said screw it! Fuck the rest of them! Collect ‘em all!”

Nate, Brooks and Gabriel are a make-shift pack in a way even though they aren’t admitting it and they all want Lou. However, they can’t share every part of themselves with Lou because she is human and unaware of the shifter world. Knowledge of what they are could mean a death sentence for her. Even so, these men sweep her off her feet and decide to take things as they come.

“So, is Lou short for anything?” Nate asked casually after a silence that had gone well beyond awkward. It wasn’t ‘can I spread you out and eat your pussy until you scream?’, the question I’d been hoping for, but small talk was good too.”

Just as things seem relatively safe, all hell breaks loose and a psychotic ex from Lou’s cam days ruins everything. Will her men be able to keep her safe? Will she let them?

I enjoyed this but I would be lying if I said I enjoyed this more than Ria and her bears. I loved Lou. She had the same sass, tenacity, humor and grit that Ria did. Noah, Brooks and Gabriel fell short for me. I found them lacking deeper character development and that alpha umph. I wanted a little more dominance from them. Overall, a good read with steam, suspense and a brutal cliffhanger.

FIVE “right in his wolf face” STARS!

ARC generously provided in exchange for an honest review

Ok guyssssss… Listen. I didnt realize how badly I needed a freaking “obscure fairytale retelling RH anthology” until Colette came out and said “hey, you know what you bitches (and bastards) all need? An obscure fairytale retelling RH anthology.” Ok.. she didnt really say that. (Or maybe she did. I don’t know her life), but I like to think that that’s what was going through her head when she first released the Three Bears duet, and now this Red Riding Hood duet.

Scarlet Disaster was SO GOOD, ya’ll. First of all— lemme tell you— the FMC in this book is none other than LOU…. Ria from the Three Bears series’ roomate and best friend! So when I realized that I was all “helllllsss to the YES.

Anyways, I just came off of reading the first book in Colette’s State of Grace series, and while I freaking love and adore all the research and world-building and awesomeness that she clearly put into that new series, I was seriously in the mood for a warmer, lighter, fuzzier, feel-good RH and this is exactly what the doctor prescribed. If the doctor had KU-and was also Colette- that is.

So.. I have terrible second-hand embarrassment when I read. And I’m not going to lie, when I found out the FMC was an ex cam girl in this series I was like “oh seven hells .. this is gonna be killer on my SH embarrassment because thats totally not something I could ever do even though I am low-key envious of women who can do it.” But I never should have, for a second, doubted Ms Rhodes writing abilities because not *one time* did I ever get any sort of embarrassment reading this. I freaking LOVED LOU. Which is another home-run in the FMC category… I swear this woman hasnt written a FMC I didnt fall in love with yet. (I’m starting to seriously think she made some kind of deal with a demon. Probably a hot demon. That she came up with in her head.) Lou is dealing with a bit of an identity crisis (trying to figure out if people -especially men- like her for her or actually like her Cam Girl persona who is far more sultry and sexy and confident- Scarlett.) and I think the three men in her soon-to-be harem come into her life at the exact perfect time. Because not only do they appreciate that part of her that’s Scarlett, they encourage Lou to do what’s best for herself, never put her down for her previous work, never judge her.. and ultimately as they fall in love with her they fall in love with ALL of her. There are moments when Scarlett tends to come to the surface and the guys acknowledge it and eventually recognize (after finding out her former profession) where its coming from.. but they forever encourage her to be herself and are slowly helping Lou figure out exactly who that woman is. They are absolutely amazing.. and the relationships with each of them are phenomenal.

Colette has an amazing way of writing super in-depth characters.. which is baffling to me because you don’t normally get that level of depth in a romance book that’s less than 300 pages and has more than 2 main characters. I dont know how she comes up with these characters but she absolutely makes me fall in love with them time and time again.

There is, of course, some serious conflict going out outside of Lou’s internal issues- a man from her past comes forward and tries to stake a claim on her… and let’s just say that Gabriel, Nate and Brooks are sooooo not having that. Unlike Ria in the three bears book, Lou has absolutely no clue about the shifter world.. so the men are walking a thin line between trying to explain to her why the Wolf Shifter Alpha of New York is wayyyyy scarier than Lou thinks he is without putting her in danger by telling her about the Shifter World, thereby sentencing her to death because she now knows their secret and isn’t mated to one of them.

There are tons of questions I have for the next book.. and so many relationship issues for the group to work through.. and I’m dying to see what journey Colette takes all these amazing characters on.

You will laugh your ass off, be touched, and stay up allllll freaking night reading this book!

I breezed through these on a quiet work day, so struggling to remember where one part ended and the other began. I liked Lou and the guys, then Nate ruined it, Lou turned bitter and stubborn. The other two just seemed to be watching. But even with the strain between Lou and Nate, the story still felt lighter than Ria's. Noah remains as the biggest grump. I was a bit worried with the way this one was going, crazy ex and a mother that wants a suitable mate for her son, it was starting to look like a repeat. The ending was harsh. Despite two of the three bears being fun, I did prefer the first part of Lou's story.

Lou has an alter ego by the name of Scarlet who's a cam girl. She takes a chance on a customer and begins a whirlwind relationship that ends when she finds out he's married. She goes back to her hometown and meets 3 guys who she's drawn too. Unfortunately there's more to her former hookup than she could've ever imagined, Frank is on a mission to get her back and when she refuses he sets out on a path to destroy her

I enjoy this author's writing style but I gotta admit I didn't enjoy this one as much as some of her other offerings.
Lou initially hooks up with Nate but because he's a shifter the encounter ends badly and much of the book is her being angry at him and him being unable to fix it because of shifter secrets
His 2 best friends are the others in the harem
Sometimes the mcs came across as immature

Book ends on a cliffhanger as Lou discovers the existence of shifters

RH
h has slept with 2 of the guys in this book, they're not thinking in terms of harem as yet
h was married young, was with the asshole frank and then the guys
She's a cam girl branching off to be an influencer

Screaming. I am screaming.

I love Colette’s books. Her bear shifter duet gave me LIFE. But this one? Holy crap it is good. I love the three mismatched pack. They’re so good for each other and each man has a distinct personality that could stand on his own. No one guy feels underdeveloped or like they’re given less “screen time”. Colette balances everything out nicely.

I also LOVE the forced proximity trope. She’s in danger, she doesn’t really know why, and has to stay with three hunky strangers that all want to bite her? Sign. Me. Up.

Anyway, read this book. Colette is awesome. All three guys are hot af. And Lou is one bad*ss FMC.

I loved this book so very hard! I mean I pretty much love everything Colette writes, sooo that's not a huge surprise. She's on my must-read list no matter what she publishes 💜 I want more after finishing this one and that's the sign of a great story - I was both happy and sad to see my completion rate get closer and closer to 100%

In this book, we get to know Lou, who we originally met in the Gilded Mess duet. Lou's been a cam girl for 5 years but is looking to get out of that game after her liaison with Frank in NYC went sour. She's in a stage of self-discovery and preparing to travel the world. Along the way she meets all of the guys who are immediately drawn to her (even though she's a human and they are shifters). The drama comes when Frank shows up not taking no for an answer. It turns out he's a powerful shifter from NYC and he wants to keep Lou as a part of his human women harem.

The FMC!
Lou is one of my fave characters that I've read in a while. She's a great combination of sexually confident, dry and witty, and shy/unsure. Colette's done a great job at writing the duality of Lou's personality that captures her growth and willingness to change. Plus I love that she owns her sexuality and past sex work - honestly super refreshing to see this in a character.

The Guys!
Nate, Brooks & Gabriel - these guys have formed a mini pack even though two of them, Gabriel and Nate, are cat shifters to Brook's wolf shifter. They've been friends for over 10 years and all love the travel nomad lifestyle. They all are drawn to Lou and are looking for a fun time during the winter in Alaska. Alas feelings and drama happen and they are all drawn to protecting Lou. Gahh I love all of them, but I think Gabriel is my fave (as of now).

The Smut!
We have some hot sexy cam girl time, some one-on-one action and loads of oral - Lou learns she loves oral in this book 👅 I cannot wait for the group scenes which are bound to happen in book 2

Another duet from this author and again a fairytale reimagining, this time Red Riding Hood. Really intrigued by the plot and Lou's life. Meeting the guys all in different ways and I'm sitting here laughing like dude they're all pack and so oblivious. Then the crashing of the date and revelation. Frank is an a hole. Lou hates Nate for what he did but I can understand it though it would be much easier if they had just told the truth. I liked the different POVs. Gabriel is the serious but smooth one and Brooks is the playful and flirty one. Nate is just Nate. Starting the next and last book right now especially because of that cliffhanger.

(3.25 ⭐️) There was definitely potential here, but I don’t think the execution really nailed anything. I thought the writing style was fun and the characters are each interesting in their own way (which gets lost a lot in RH) but it kinda just rang a little hollow.

I loved Colette Rhodes' Three Bears series, so of course I had to read this one too. Lou was snarky and sassy in that series, and I couldn't wait to read her story.

Lou works as a cam girl. After trying to give "love" a chance, she finds out the guy is actually married so she leaves him and goes back to Alaska. She's ready to change her life, but when three guys come crashing at her, Lou needs her alter ego "Scarlet" to show them a good time. However, Nate, Brooks and Gabriel need to make her realise that they want Lou and don't need Scarlet. And when Lou finds out that the people around her are not really humans, she needs to trust them to keep her safe.

Lou is a woman on a journey to discover herself. Life wasn't kind to her, but she made do the best she could. I really hope she can get a happily ever after with her guys.

I wouldn't recommend because you can read better books with similar tropes in more interesting worlds & maturer characters.

Heres my review of the whole duo logy bc really it's just one long story split into two books.
This started off as a great duology, but it really lost me toward the end. In my opinion, it should have just been one book. So much stuff being cut out would really help the progression of the story and stop the plot from turning stale. This becomes so much more obvious by the second book. We (the readers) know the outcome way before it's going to happen, the characters also mostly know the outcomes but Rhodes keeps us in a limbo of the characters just fighting or being too reluctant to do anything. I think if there was more secrecy in the book it would have been a more captivating read, & if there was actual progression rather than so many scenes of back-&-forth between characters. I think where the book started to go wrong is how quickly we learned the boys were shifters. After that I couldn't care about the secrets because they felt irrelevant in every sense: the secrets were valid (so I didn't emphasize with Lous irritation) & we knew it would only be a matter of time before it was revealed (& it was obvious also to the characters) so it felt incredibly stupid to keep them a secret. All in all, the series just slacked off & I was reluctant to read book 2, in the end I couldn't be bothered to finish it.
It's not bad writing & the story line had potential, but it needs to be edited, cut & reformatted slightly to keep readers entertained.

Fun RH shifter romance duo. This heroine is probably not for everyone. As someone who didn't grow up with minutia of mine and everyone else's life consumed on the internet, I did have trouble identifying with her. That said once I managed to link the idea of the high she got performing on social media to being similar to the high famous some musicians, models, actors etc get performing I was more easily able to embrace her dynamic. It was a clever heroine idea.

I enjoyed this duo because it offered something different in this sub-genre. It didn't stick to a quick erotic novel but took a lingering look in a shifter world. Sometimes, I just want a longer style storyline to emerse myself in. It was a reverse harem romance, no sword crossing, and I loved that Rhodes poked fun at the genre a little. This had the usual fun banter from Rhodes and small plot twists to create an enjoyable and entertaining escape.

I absolutely loved the Three Bears duet, so when I saw that Lou was getting her own story I was so excited! You could tell that Lou had a story to tell and ya'll... it does not disappoint!! It has amazing characters, a great plot, steam, and action to keep you hooked from beginning to end!

We had a brief look into what Lou does for work in the Three Bears, now we get all those dirty details. Scarlet has been Lou's go to persona for years. She's struggling because she wants to step out as herself but ultimately she's terrified people won't like what they see. She's feisty, strong, and she's stubborn. She's also unsure, vulnerable, scared. Lou is determined to get out of her home state of Alaska, sell her house, and travel the world. She wants to heal her hurting heart and drink fruity drinks in the sand. I mean I get it, who doesn't? Sign me up 😘

First Scarlet meets Nate, he does her tattoo, he's dangerously dark, delicious, and mysterious, but she wants him. Poor Nate though, try as he might he cannot communicate with Lou. His lack of a word to mouth filter gets him into plenty of trouble. Here's to hoping the poor guy catches a break in book two. I'm glad we get multiple POV's so we can understand his thoughts, and what he's trying to accomplish, even though some of the things he says are cringeworthy (think man, THINK.)
Next Brooks, he's funny, charming, gorgeous, confident, and used to getting the girls without effort *swoon.* Unfortunately for him Lou doesn't fall for his usual charms. He see's Lou as Lou, not Scarlet. The dynamic and banter between them is lighthearted and comical (minus those pesky awkward convo's about actual feelings and emotions.)
Last but hardly least is Gabriel, he's more quiet and reserved, comforting, and well-spoken (unlike someone else.) He's gorgeous, and did I mention Brazilian? *wipes the drool..*

The problem with these super hot hunks who just showed up? They are all keeping secrets from her and she is NOT ok with that; even if they say it's for her protection. I mean she's just a measly human, who would want to hurt her?

If you've read the Three Bears, you probably remember Frank. If you haven't no worries, you'll meet him... He shows up looking for Lou and brings all sorts of trouble with him to Fairbanks, Alaska.

Overall, Scarlet was just what I was hoping for. It was lighthearted, but emotional. At the same time there's some darkness and mystery edging in. Happy ever after is JUST for fairytales, right? I love the play off of Little Red Riding Hood, especially since it doesn't stick to the well known storyline. As you can probably guess there are Wolves *gasps* and a fiery red head FMC. There are secrets, question marks, and answers still waiting to be revealed. The men are just how I love my book boyfriends. They are possessive, dark, mysterious, did I mention gorgeous? Everything about Scarlet left me wanting more. I'll be here wearing my red cloak looking for the big bad wolf until the next book comes out! Another fantastic book by Colette Rhodes!

Who's afraid of the big bad wolf?

I've been dying for Lou's story! She was such an interesting character in Ria's story that was I super excited to see that she was getting her own as well.

What I loved about Lou was that, like Ria, she is in this limbo of self discovery. For someone who was a cam girl for 5 years, her self esteem and self worth are incredibly low, but those are what I found most relatable about her. The struggle she was experiencing is something a lot of people go through every day, even in just small doses.

Nate, Brooks, and Gabriel are so unbelievably good for Lou. While she is going through an identity crisis trying to figure out who she even is and trying to ease herself away from her Scarlet persona, they are there for her, loving her just as her regular Lou self. There is no judgement from them about her past, they protect her in every manner possible, and they recognize and admire things about her that she can't currently see herself.

Even with the misunderstanding with Nate, and let's be honest, it was a huge one, it's clear that there are still feelings involved all around. I hope that the end of this book helps clear up everything that went on with Nate and Lou at the beginning of the book and allows them to progress into a more honest and open relationship. After they didn't judge her for her past career choice, I think it would be admirable of Lou to not judge them for keeping their secret from her, even if she was upset with them at the time.

Speaking of the secrets...that cliffhanger was amazing! It was definitely a great stopping point for book 1 and an even better beginning point for the 2nd book in this duet. I can't wait to see how Lou handles everything that has been thrown at her. Will she take it in stride and be comfortable with the men she has already started bonding with and accept their protection without hesitation, or will she try and flee? Either way, it should be one heck of an interesting finale to this duet. I hope Frank gets what is coming to him.

The Three Bears duet was probably one of my favorite reads this year so when I heard that Colette was writing a spinoff featuring Ria’s best friend, Lou, I couldn’t have been more excited. After reading this book I can’t decide which duet I love more. I think I’ll just say they are all together and not make a choice.

This book is loosely based on Little Red Riding Hood, very loosely, but there are a few little bits. I adore Lou. In the Three Bears duet we learn a bit about her and what she does, or at least Rea suspects that she’s a cam girl. In this book we learn about what happened when she was in New York and this book takes place shortly after those events. Definitely a few things I didn’t see coming but it worked out perfectly. Lou is strong, sassy, hilarious and human. Literally human but she has feelings, strengths and weaknesses and she is extremely relatable. She is a retired cam girl and she owns her past but you can see her struggle trying to switch between her cam girl personality and her real self. Her drive to be authentic to herself it’s so admirable and relatable that you can’t help but love her. I found myself constantly highlighting quotes and interactions in this book.

As for the men and our overarching plot, no complaints. The plot makes sense for the story and it’s so well done. It’s not the most intense drama but it is entertaining and I just love this book. The author was very creative with it and I like that she related back to the previous duet but you didn’t need to read it. If you hadn’t read it you probably would want to read it now.

Overall, I really did enjoy this book. It was a fun read and exactly what I needed. I’m looking forward to the conclusion of this duet and I hope the author does another spin off. I don’t think I’m ready to leave this world or these characters.

What the actual heck?! I bought this book because the summary was so ridiculous. "What sharp teeth they have. And what big packages they have..." I thought it was going to be like reading a trashy bodice-ripper with a werewolf covering slapped on top. Honestly, how dare this book be so shockingly-well-written, have such great characters, and be so amazing!

Lou's inner monologue was hilarious! I actually snorted with laughter several times. She's well-rounded, realistic, interesting, adorable, and so very very funny. Even Scarlet is amazing. (And I was really expecting the whole Scarlet persona to be annoying.) The reasons the guys all give for liking Lou more than Scarlet were lovely too. They were seeing the real her and reacting to that, rather than just going for Scarlet's pretty wrapping paper.

The guys, too, oh my gosh. I was expecting cardboard cutouts with abs. However, they each have distinct personalities and hobbies that actually made it hard to decide who I liked better. Nate, despite messing up so early, was still adorable to watch constantly put his foot in his mouth because he caught feelings first. Brooks is so playful and matches Lou with her interest in social media. Gabriel feels like the most mature, but he can get out of his element easier and lets Lou ground him. They were each sparkling choices. (Hello, reverse harem, I never realized that was a genre I liked.)

The Big Bad Wolf is spectacular. I like how the book switched between perspectives so we could see the Shifter reality of how scary he really is, coupled with Lou thinking he's just a rich shmuck who trained some wolves. That led to some real funny moments, especially the cliffhanger ending!

I'm flabbergasted by how much I enjoyed this. 5/5

I really loved Goldie & her three bears, the first two books in this series, so I was very excited to get Lou's story in this next duet. I love how Rhode's female characters are sassy and unconventional--Lou is a retired camgirl which is definitely a first for me in a novel. But it's a great way to promote that women can and should be able to do whatever they want for work and with their bodies, especially as men have been making money off of women for these exact things for centuries.

I miss the playfulness from Goldie's duet though. Probably because she's aware of shifters while Lou isn't, and it really makes for a whole heap of secret keeping in this book. Which is NOT my favorite trope to read. I feel bad at the light that poor Nate is cast in this installment because everything he's keeping back is to keep her safe, but all it is doing is making him look insane and like a massive jerk.

This book ended on a cliffhanger, but at least Lou finally knows the big secret. And now hopefully she can actually form real relationships with the guys, because let's be honest...that's the whole point. And so far it's felt very lacking because even with the few smutty scenes, there is this huge glaring elephant of a lie in the room. The next book really needs to redeem itself otherwise this duet won't hold up to the first at all.

If you heard a faint screaming of nooooooooooooooo this afternoon that would have been me yelling at my kindle realising I just reached the cliff hanger I knew was coming but still not accepting it lmao!!

It was amazing being back in the realm of Lou, Nate, Ria and Eli. Always feels like pulling up and nice cuddly blanket and settling in when I pick up Colette Rhodes book. I know I am going to be in store for a great read, with some funny inner monologues from these characters.

Lou was so similar to Ria in a way with her inner monologue that a few times I had a bit of a giggle doing on. It was great reading from the guys points of views as well and gives the reader such a full rounded understanding of where all the characters thinking are at.

Overall, this was another enjoyable story that I zoomed through wwwaayyyyy to quickly. Each of the guys were really really lovable and I hope we find out a bit more about their backgrounds in book two. Their chemistry with Lou was just awesome to read and can't wait to see what happens in book 2.

I received an advance review copy for free from the Author, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

@coletterhodes_author did it again, with another group of characters, a plot that was so fast paced I couldn't read fast enough, and such anticipation that the cliffhanger nearly killed me (figuratively, of course).

This book releases on the 7th of August, so get to pre-ordering...

Lou is such a petite, feisty, headstrong red-head. She knows what she wants, and she definitely isn't afraid to go after it. Getting mixed up in a world she knows nothing about really doesn't sit well with her, because she knows something is up.

The men, Nate, Brooks and Gabrielle, are yet again absolutely amazing. May I climb into this world just for them?

If you are a Reverse Harem nerdy adult, who enjoys books that will make you laugh and invest serious hours, with shifters - then this book is definitely for you!

Thanks so much to Colette for another incredible book. I can't wait for the sequel. Also, she has lots more, check out her Three Bears duology too...

YES absolutely YES. I love love LOVE this book, and Colette has become a one-click buy author for me.

We have a fantastic modern setting with cam girls mixed with shifters. The guys are the best, real men finding their way together (not as a pack, honest), always there for each other.

What I will rave about:
The guys, not just because they are hot in a traditional sense (though they are that too, of course ;) but because they aren't alpha males. Hallelujah! They are about helping the FMC not just because they want to get into her pants, but because it's the right thing to do! Consent! Freedom! Real conversations and consideration delivered with snark. And yes they are hot but they are also so relatable, and I loved each of their voices.

What could have been better:
Absolutely nothing! Yes there is a cliff hanger but literally, that's how authors have to sell books nowadays. Expect a cliffie in a series!

You'll love it if you like:
Sex positive girls who speak their mind, shifters who aren't alpha men, just real dudes who think women have brains too!
