U.S. Marshal bursts into action once more with a brand new Western adventure that will leave you turning pages. Timber doesn’t rest; he can’t be bribed or bought off—he has only one goal. Justice.
In the foothills outside of Elder Flats is one of the largest remaining herds of wild horses. The two largest ranch owners have been supplementing their cattle income for the last fifteen years by taking a half dozen wild horses from the herd here and there, once or twice a year, to make ends meet. It's always been an unspoken agreement that neither rancher would take too many horses, so that the herd's numbers would stay stable.
Then the oldest of the ranchers has lately decided that he is entitled to as many wild horses as his men can round up, and to hell with anybody else.
He ain't been the same since he was crippled in a stampede--ever since then he's been using a stick to walk and he's been meaner every month. It falls to U.S. Marshal to sort out the brewing ranch war in the area. Can Timber bring an old man with a lot of power to heel, or will he die, trying to bring fairness to the Old West?
One of Timber's best thus far. He definitely goes above and beyond his normal duties!
Have to give this one five stars, as there are no slow downs from beginning to end! Having read most, if not all, of Timber's exciting adventures, I think this one will appease anyone's desired expectations! The storylines will definitely keep you turning pages, as Timber goes above and beyond in his efforts to end a range war that shouldn't have happened to begin with. Too, the character selections are unsurpassed in their commanding assignments! Definitely recommend this fast moving series of ongoing gun fights to all readers, but you old dyed in the wool western fanatics will find it hard to put the story aside until the final paragraph has been absorbed!!!😅
I’m a big fan of Robert Hanlon’s Jake Timber series and have now read all 20. Most have been 4 of 5 stars. This one barely gets 2.
The story was weak and rushed. Some of the content / story was too simple and convenient.
The writing style seemed very rushed too. Many run-on sentences and errors in clarity and voice. Also, the gunfights were simply written and didn’t put you in the action. It read like the author was in a hurry to reach the end.
Lastly, Jake seemed like a different person. He openly shared information, and seemed to (almost) kill for fun.
This was a very good story. A lot of action with much gun play. Old Timber sure put some money in his pocket by the end of this read. I'm ready for the next story in this series. Patently awaiting.
The non-stop action and adventure is becoming normal for Jake Timber. His tales are full of biullets and and gunsmoke and the pages just fly by. If you love old west stories this is the series for you.
Interesting story of how Timber rides looking for bad guys and finds a town with lot bigger problems. Action from page. To final page. Timber does his job.
