Listened to the audiobook which isn’t listed on GR. Downloaded because of the English narrator - Kevin E Green - who adds an extra level to every read. Not a bad story either!
Comfortable, fun, mystery. The unexpected twists were truly enjoyable; and it was very nice that the obvious solutions were definitely not. Satisfying that my original suspicion was confirmed…
Very average but suited my needs as a book I could listen to at the gym. I have a love hate relationship with Audiobooks, the narrator can make or break a book. It really grates on me when the narrator isn’t good. The women’s voices in this book were horrible. I cringe just thinking about it.
The plot is basic. I figured out “who dun it” almost from the beginning. There is little action or suspense until almost the end of the book, and Daisy’s sleuthing consists of a series of relatively inept interviews with a list of suspects.
By the way, people who live on the isle of Rhodes are not “Rhodesians.”
Daisy Fortune is getting very nervous about her ability to continue with the PI agency left to her by her father, who had achieved some notoriety during his heyday.
She is unexpectedly engaged by a wealthy woman who wants to discover what happened to her recently departed fiancé. Daisy starts packing but doesn’t realize she’ll end up on an island in Greece.
Young Jacob Vandiveer was a spoiled, uber rich male used to getting what he wanted, when he wanted. The holdings of the super rich, including their palatial estate, were beyond anything Daisy could imagine.
Daisy is not fully developed and few of the support characters were either. The writing style is fairly simple and the installment can be an easy, fast read. Not a particularly complex plot, there are twists, but it’s easy to guess who is going to be the perp.
The conclusion wrapped up most of the loose threads, no problem there, but I was astounded that the hefty check she received from the patriarch for solving his son’s murder only allowed her to pay past due, current bills, and cover the next few months. A PI office is expensive!
There is the suggestion of a case that her father was not able to solve—that of her missing brother that I suspect will factor into further installments. I’ll bite on Book 2, see where this is going, but hope it gets a little more complex and creates interesting reoccurring characters besides Daisy. Right now I can’t decide if she’s milk toast or a self-assured and competent PI.
I received a complimentary review copy of this book from my local library that in no way influenced this review. These are my honest thoughts.
This is another Blake Pierce mystery. I didn't know if I was going to like this book 📚📖 at first when I started reading it but as the story unfolded I was more than a little bit interested in the story. This is the story of Daisy Fortune who was enlisted by this lady named "Natasha Blake"...hmm 🤔 to investigate the murder of her fiance Jacob Vandiveer. She didn't know she was going to the Mediterranean to an island 🏝️ in Greece. She solves the murder in the end. There were so many secrets, lies and betrayal but it all involved the super rich, the wealthy people in society. Did I tell you that Daisy took over for her father who was a famous investigator in USA and that her brother had disappeared hanging out with the wealthy and partying. Her father never could solve the mystery of his missing son. I have a feeling this will be a good series. This series after all is a Blake Pierce mystery.
a woman pi took over her fathers pi business, he is in a care facility. she isnt doing well and is broke a rich woman comes in wanting her to find out who murdered her billionaire fiance
she didnt tell her she was flying her to greece in her private plane. she is worried leaving her dad for so long but needs to figure out the case to make the money she needs to pay for her dads care
the woman thought the brother killed him, but the pi doesnt think so. she is going through a list of everyone on the yacht at the time. they are VERY rich
it was the finance who hired her, but shes a fake, she thought if she hired her she would never figure it out. she tried to kill the pi but the pi got the gun at the last second the woman was arrested
the pi went back and still had money troubles as she didnt get paid then the murdered mans dad showed up with $100,000 and his other son wants to date her

This book was another good book written by Mr. Pierce. The first book in the series was so good I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series. If you read the series out of order, in my opinion the books are easy to follow. The book is fast paced, there is love, action, and family drama.
I'm not going to spoil the book.... It's so good!! I read this book in a few hours. I couldn't believe how fast I read this book. Once I started I wanted to know what was going to happen next. Each book written by Mr. Pierce is so well written, he knows how to draw me in within a few pages.
I highly recommend any books written by Mr. Pierce, you won't be disappointed with your purchase.
I do enjoy Blake Pierce books if I ever need a change of pace or want something quick to read. They are so enjoyable and easy to read. Her plots are not overly complex and overall, her characters are usually pretty down to earth and easy to relate to.
In this book, Daisy owns a dwindling private investigator company in desperate need of funding. Daisy is trying extremely hard to keep the place going, and her luck turns when a young woman mysteriously arrives in the office, looking for a PI to investigate the death of her fiancé. After a quick flight to a tropical island outside the US, Daisy dives deep into the mystery behind the recent death of an extremely wealthy young man, uncovering secrets of his family members and close friends.
Like a classic private detective novel. I listened to the audio version and the narrator just added to the classic feel. If there was any language it was infrequent and mild. There were no sex scenes though in the course of investigating the crime you heard about affairs but nothing was graphic. I’m glad I got the second one in the series as well. i’m not sure of the authors other books but he is quite a prolific writer in fact as I looked up his books I couldn’t believe how many he writes in a year and has written overall but I was very happy with this series as I don’t like graphic details of gruesome crimes in my brain but I love good mysteries
Daisy is second-guessing her competence to keep her inherited business of a PI agency until a "dream" case falls on her lap and she is thrown into the midst of an investigation to find out if the heir of a multi-million dollar fortune was killed or committed suicide. She does what she knows best, investigates thoroughly, and keeps her discretion, she has ups and downs in her quest but ends up finding the culprit and having a second chance with her business. I'm looking forward to reading other books in the series. I thank the author for the ARC.
Surprisingly good story, as it was the first one of a series, and I was not sure since the author has written tons of books! The storyline was fast paced and interesting, and the main character had some depth. I like the way the ending segued into the next book in the series, which I’m definitely interested in reading! The only thing that was a bit sketchy was her father’s mysterious illness… in this day and age not too many illnesses are mysterious, I don’t think, but hopefully we will hear more about it in the upcoming books.

I think I'm not really a Blake Pierce fan. This is the second series I have tried and I may try one more Daisy book, but then I'm done. It's an easy read, & a good way to fill up time waiting in an office or on a plane, but the characters are shallow & there just isn't enough content to the plot. Peirce's heroines are cringe worthy -- either stuck on themselves and how important everyone else should think them, or, in this case, so lacking in self confidence and are intimidated by everyone around them. Maybe his books should be labeled YA ?
Daisy Fortune is trying to fill the shoes of her famous Private Investigator father. Things are looking bleak when a rich woman asks for help investigating the death of her rich fiancé. Thinking she is going to the coast she ends up on an island in Greece at a mansion. Everyone seems to have differing ideas about what happened. What a great new series! Can't wait for the next book!
This book is full of everything, unexpected, it’s funny, it’s intriguing and though some of these characters to ordinary folk would seem outrageous, they come across as genuine for who they are and how they live, warts and all. A wonderful book, completely clean, so well written it flows in an easy to read rhythm all on its own. Exceptional.
The voice characterization was terrible! I mean, seriously awful. This is the only negative part of the book. I enjoyed the multiple suspect pool, not needing to get gory to have an interesting murder to solve, and a good twist.
I'm mixed on the recommendation. It would be a great book to read, but I am not sure about recommending it as an audiobook. 🤔
Fun, easy read. Read it while sitting in a doctor’s office waiting for my husband to get through an onerous testing procedure. It made the time fly by. Thank you for that, Mr. Pierce. There will be more tests so more Daisy Fortune stories will be downloaded in the future.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Daisy has been asked to solve a murder,in Greece, but she feels she's way out of her league! The rich keep secrets. But she's persistent ,never gives up. This is a quick, easy read with enough twists to keep your interest. Very nicely done !
Daisy, a private detective who took over her ailing father’s agency, is hired to find out who killed Jacob by his fiancé. She is flown to Greece where she interviews staff, family members, and friends. She is also working against time and another well known detective. Will she solve the case? An enjoyable read with a twist.
What a good discovery and try! Really start to like the way this author is writing and this new series look very promising! Like the plot and the way he plays with the characters keep you alert! Thanks to the author for sharing!
Daisy is the daughter of a famous PI and is now trying to keep his once thriving business afloat. Although there are a multitude of detective stories out there, nothing makes this one stand out.
With very little clues a young women Private detective is sent to a posh resort to solve a murdet. This is a tall tale you should enjoy. Twists and curves Throughout with an ending I enjoyed, I say read this Book . The characters are characters!
Daisy is an enjoyable character to follow, and the story of her struggles through glamour-ville grabs the imagination. I was let down by a few unrealistic happenstances, but overall "Need You" kept me interested throughout.
I enjoyed reading this book.... totally fell into the story. Complete shock at the end..... but the beginning and the middle were good as well. This reeked of Agathe Christie mystery.... I never figured out who done it, in any of her books, either!
It was ok but not stellar. There was a very annoying loose end, where Daisy travels on a private jet out of the country without her passport and is somehow able to purchase a last minute commercial airline ticket for her return with no passport.
