Six months after K turned their lives upside down, Mikel, Citera, and their friends are beginning to settle into life inside Jaron’s camp. And with no patrols, inspectors, or Shadows around, it is a life none of them would have ever dreamed of having. However when ghosts from K’s past make an appearance and snap her usually unwavering control, Citera begins to be plagued by some strange and alarming symptoms. No longer able to keep the truth hidden, Jaron and K are forced to at last reveal the dark secret they have been keeping from the father and daughter, one that will alter the course of Citera’s life forever.
While her friends are adapting to life in paradise, Maya is struggling to survive her own personal hell. Locked in the Tower, she lives from day to day, desperate to find a way to connect with the only person who could make it all tolerable. Jarod, however, wanting to protect her from the darkness that is growing inside him, continues to push her away. But when a trip outside the Tower leads to Jarod learning that he has been lied to by the only person he ever trusted, he finds himself at a crossroads. Should he continue living the charade, protecting people who would just as soon see him dead as to look at him, or for the first time in his life, should he do what is right for him and allow himself to fall for this girl who consumes his every waking thought?
K.R. Fajardo (Kelli) is a married mother of 3 beautiful children who lives in deep in the piney woods of East Texas. She loves chocolate, Dr. Pepper, 80's music, and anything paranormal. Her favorite way to unwind after a long, hard day is to kick up her feet and immerse herself into the fantastical world of a good book. It is this passion for reading that eventually lead Kelli to pursue her longtime dream of writing and in 2013, after a year of hard work, she self-published her first book K The Awakening. The following year its sequel Linked was released by Anchor Group Publishing. Spurred on by the out pouring of support she has received from friends, family, and complete strangers, Kelli looks forward to continuing to share her fantastical stories with readers around the world
“Linked” was the first book I read by K.R. Fajardo, and it won’t be the last. This is book two in her “Shadow Chronicles” series. Outside of the epilogue and a few minor details, I was able to follow along without too much trouble.
I found Fajardo’s fresh take on vampires to be well-written and intriguing. The characters were complex and interesting. My favorite ones were Maya and Jarod. I loved how Maya learned to embrace her strength. At first, I thought she was a child—so did the other characters. She finally stood up for herself and discovered her hidden power. I liked Jarod from the beginning. He was a beast of a man with secrets and a softer side. It just needed to be coaxed out. I also liked the character of Citera. I loved her bravery and wisdom.
***Review has been gifted in exchange for my honest opinion and on behalf of Kats Book Promotions/ Katsindiebookblog.*** I liked this book a lot better than the first. The first book seems to open you up into this new world and gets you ready for what is next to come. It introduces you to characters and gets you familiarized with who and what they are and can do. This book puts everything in more of a perspective and gets you into the action of everything. In Linked you get some questions answered from the first book, but yet you still need more answers (In a good way). You also get more in depth with each of the characters, especially the Enforcer and his feelings for Myra. This is the love to hate, hate to love character. At the same time, I feel for him. I can kind of see where he comes from and why he has to block his feelings for her. Unfortunately, this is one of those books where it’s kind of hard to give a review without the fear of giving so much away. Just know that they have escaped the hell of their old towns and seem to be happily enthralled with their finding in the forest. Like I previously said, I found this book to be a lot better and am looking forward to the next book!
What a book!!! What a series! If you love diving into a world, not just a story, but a world! A world with deep characters you love, you hate, and you love to hate. A world that sucks you in and you feel like you live there, the characters are your friends and you can close your eyes and picture it because the author made it live in your mind with her words. Well then my friend, this is the book for you. This story is deep and complex and I am dying to know what happens next. Can you say book hangover! At the end of K: Awakening, Citera and her family and friends are free of Vicaris and heading to a life of freedom. Myra has left with the Enforcer and accepted a life of service to the Shadows. Linked picks up about 6 months later, and right away introduces us to some interesting new characters and reunites us with an old friend. I can't say anything else for fear of saying to much. But what I can say is this book is AWESOME! Some super intense moments and sweet and tender ones too. This book has it all! I can't wait for more!
Linked by K R Fajardo begins where K: the Awakening left off; half of the characters have made their way to the dream of the Oasis while others are navigating the Shadows in the Tower. This was a great read, the world the K R Fajardo has created is mysterious and fraught with peril. The storylines move at a quick pace but still have time to really bring out the backstories as well. I enjoyed this sequel.
K. R. Fajardo...You are a very inventive, original, and exquisite in your writing. These books have been a joy to read. I do like a story told in first person instead of third but have enjoyed these books. So much going on. Thank you.
I enjoyed this second installment better then the first book as it was a bit easier to follow with only keeping to one character at a time. It is shocking the stuff that some of the characters had to go through and each moment keeps you riveted and wanting to know what will happen next. And the little secret teasers that keep coming up are awesome.
Now this story rocked my world and my socks off!! I absolutely loved it!! There was more action, less jumping between character during the chapters, and I felt as if I could connect with the characters a bit more. Even some of my unanswered questions were answered better in this story, plus more. I loved the characters too, especially Citera and K and their bond and Jarod and Maya and their bond. I learned a lot in this story and it really kept my attention and really piqued my interest to wanna read more. I highly recommend this read!!
The second book in the series. Again, I was blown away with the writing, story, complexity of the world she created, number of characters she created and their development. I inhaled the book and the last book in the series. It looks like there will be more and I cannot wait. Fajardo's writing is superb, complex, detailed and it flows beautifully. The story is interesting, complex, consistent, contains many characters, based on original idea and follows several situations in a parallel manner. The characters are consistent, well developed and sometimes contain layers of complexity. They are numerous: K aka Kajhoul, Jaron, Tyran, Jarod aka The Enforcer, Maya, Mikel, Citera, Dirik and some side characters. All of these characters are developed into detail and followed through the stories. In this book, our characters continue with their struggles, but unlike the first book, this book is slightly more relaxed. It is like a short break from struggles for some of the characters. Towards the end, things intensify again, and some of the characters face almost impossible challenges. The story develops, characters become more complex, and the world expands beyond Vanteria and into the haunted woods and the Oasis. I could not stop reading to see what happens next. All three books read like one continuous piece of work: K: The Awakening (The Shadow Chronicles #1), Linked (The Shadow Chronicles #2), and Forsaken (The Shadow Chronicles #3). Prologue of each book adds to the information we encounter later and to the layers of complexity of the story and the characters. I honestly do not have a clear idea where the series is going and this thrills me. It is a rare occasion that I meet a book, or a series or an author this good. All I have is praise, and if I could give it 7 stars somewhere I would. All in all, amazing books, and one of the best series I have ever read. I honestly cannot wait for the next book or books. I am hoping for plurality.
Linked picked up right where Book 1, K the Awakening, ended. Secrets are revealed and lies are unraveled in this installment. While there are many questions answered the author weaves a web that leaves you longing and demanding more.
I love the world that the author, K.R. Fajardo, has created in The Shadow Chronicles. The story is such a refreshing twist on the vampire saga. The characters are complex and well defined. You love them, hate them, and in some cases you hate that you love them. Strangely enough, I find that I am fascinated by Jarod, The Enforcer. I hate that I love him but I am convinced that under all the scars and baggage that he cares beats the heart of a champion. It is odd that the bad guy would captivate me so thoroughly. I NEED to know more about him and for him to be redeemed in the end. I cannot wait to see where all the story lines end up!

I am really enjoying this series. It has characters with depth and you will find yourself eager to know everything about them. It is full of secrets and twists you don't expect. It is quite a different world than I have ever read before and I am looking forward to reading more about it.
Fantastic , left me wanting more so looking forward to the next book . Poor Jarod finally gets a win in his corner with Maya and none to soon, they are my favorite
