I'm finished with the first 5 volumes and don't really care to go further. Very "young adult" writing.
While I enjoyed reading this type of adventure I guess I'm just done following the characters around.

I read all nine books and after finishing each one, I struggled a bit with how I would review them. If I were an editor (which I'm not) I could be quite critical but as a reader, I enjoyed them all. Higgins has created a rich character driven fantasy that is vaguely reminiscent of The Hobbit, in that it's a dangerous trek with likeable, relatable characters. On the downside, it's an opus with much that could have been edited out, making it a much shorter read without losing anything. I've been a reader of science fiction since the days of Asimov and I would characterize the books (although not advertised as such), as written for a young adult and teenage audience. That didn't prevent me from reading but I understand why some reviewers stopped after the first book in the series. Higgins leaves the ending of each novel a little too unfulfilling, which can either disappoint or lead to a desire to read further. Probably more important than style is that Baileigh Higgins is real storyteller, adept at keeping the reader's interest and finding endless catastrophes for her characters to overcome.

Great read

Really good action and emotional situations. These books are very well written and are really intense. The characters are believable and sympathetic. The villains are easy to strongly dislike. I would recommend these books to any reader that enjoys fast paced action and good characters.

The premise of this collection is that some accident caused by scientists working on time travel caused various swaths of the world to be shifted into the primordial past. This placed various isolated parts of cities in contact with prehistoric life. The story is concerned with how these displaced people dealt with this situation. Yes, there is some amount of human versus dinosaur interaction, but not as much as you might think--I was satisfied with the way this was done, but my point is that the story has much more to it. A large part of the series is about interpersonal interactions. Everyone is now very dependent on each other but of course not everyone is altruistic. Thus, there is also a fair bit of politics going on. I found the characters to be pretty enjoyable (although I did get a little annoyed at the main protagonist due to her penchant for doing stupid things that ended up jeopardizing her life too often). One aspect of the writing that I particularly liked was the attention to practical details. For example, the characters routinely needed to relieve themselves; this is only natural, but most stories ignore this aspect of human biology. People were also getting cut, scratched, and wounded in various ways and they made a point of disinfecting and bandaging the wounds as best they could, which would be critical under those circumstances. The story was a good length and moved along at a nice clip. I read the preview of the sequel, which was provided at the end of Primordial Earth and I am planning on purchasing that.

I enjoyed all the episodes in this series, together in my box set.

It's an unusual post-apocalyptic world set in the prehistoric past because scientists and politicians decide on a stupid experiment. Not everyone was plunged into this new and horrific world, but those who were faced and fought dinosaurs.

A huge cast of characters battled for survival and not all of them do. There are a range of dinosaurs, monsters in the guise of men, power-hungry idiots and more to fight.

The prehistoric world is described quite well - the heat, the damp, the slime, the swamps...

Rogue was a main character and sometimes she didn't seem to act her age. Seth was my favourite character - strong, determined, loyal, clever, brave and always did the right thing. There were villains and heroes, mobs, sheep and those in between.

The writing style was fast-paced with an easy flow, though there were numerous grammatical errors (for example: a capital is not needed with 'sir' when saying, 'Yes, sir.')

Overall, I thought this series was engaging from beginning to end and I would recommend it.

I have read all the 9 books and except for the last epilogue. I really like the clear writing of the author. She makes it easy to read and engaging despite the fact that the books are long and there are so many characters and events to follow. The story has so much potential but I don’t think the book has provided a satisfactory answer to the paradox of time traveling, which even the characters notice multiple times throughout the story l. Also, the description of the prehistorical world is exaggerated to an absurd extent. I think that early human have been able to coexist with dinosaurs and still being able to pass on genes to nowadays. However, the books makes the dinosaur looks like the aliens from the movie aliens. Stupidly aggressive, sees human as defenseless preys even though the characters have proved multiple times that their weapons and easily take down larges T rexes. Despite that, they still mindlessly charge at human like they have no other choices. Well I understand this is all fro dramatic effect but too much illogicality would make the story sound forced. Overall, very dedicated writing and it helps me learn new dinosaurs name from the story.

I'm mid second book and ready to pause. I cannot stand characters that are made artificially stupid to progress the plot and the MC is stupid. The writing is also quite simple with a lot of repetition. She struggles, she's exhausted but finds a last shred of energy to keep going. This is repeated over and over. There are also typos which doesn't help. Also I already know the Exiles village, which is a sort of heaven will be razed to the ground. By the way things are described it is utterly predictable. Someone said YA book. It is indeed. A 12 year old may get excited.

There are some positives. It is interesting the concept of different groups of humans, plunged in this primordial environment, developing different styles of society that reflect their members and experiences. If you have greedy characters, you'll get an uncaring society like Prime city. Who knows? maybe I'll find the strength to read a bit more at some point... it is clearly liked by most, but ATM it is not for me - despite the dinosaurs.

I got the whole series for 99p, so cannot complaint.

This was an unexpectedly pleasurable read. Stepping quickly past the Deus Ex Machina of time travel experiments gone wrong that threw parts of 21st Century Earth back to the Cretaceous, the story was
exciting And well developed over it's 1,400 odd pages. I was particularly impressed by the fact that the large cast of characters were all well developed and warmly delineated and didn't merge and blend as is so often the case with casts of thousands.

Kudos also to Miss Higgins for her meticulous depiction of a large number of dinosaurs. How lovely to see thoroughgoing background research.

My only criticism Was the occasional occurrence of homophonic errors - reign in instead of rein in; coupe instead of coup etc - but since the advent of speech to text that has become almost ubiquitous amongst contemporary works of fiction.

Bottom line: A great and satisfying read. I plan on plunging further into her oeuvre.

Several Typos and Grammatical Mistakes/Too Many Points of View (POV)

It's an interesting story but it can get confusing. Each chapter is from the POV of one of the main characters, and flashes between the past and present.
Unfortunately, there are several typos and grammatical errors I caught which the author should have caught them as well, leading me to believe the book was self-published, which is great (I've self-published books) but they should have either proofread it again or had someone else do it. Being an associate editor for an online literary journal, the errors disrupted my reading flow and I had an intense urge to correct them, taking away from fully enjoying the read.

What a superb series!

I loved this brilliant series from start to finish. The characters led the story of a world thrown into chaos by a cataclysmic event. Dinosaurs are once again ruling the earth, and humanity must do their best to cope with that fact.

I have read many good sci-fi series in my life, but none as engaging as this one. From the first word on the first page, right up to the last word on the final page, this series had me completely mesmerized. This fast paced, fantastic series was everything you could wish for and more. My advice is get the series, you won't regret it!

What a joy!

What I liked: Every doggone bit of it! Ms. Higgins uses pages like Rembrandt used canvases - sans all that smelly egg yolk. It was a real treat being able to sit back and just enjoy the ride without having to constantly stop to report errors. The imagery was second to none. The paleontological accuracy was clearly a high priority, with very few liberties taken (unlike SOME franchises where Deinonychus was referred to as a Velociraptor, simply because the name was cooler), I could go on and on, but I am eager to begin the next series by Ms. Higgins. I can't wait to see what trouble her cast of characters gets themselves into next.

Very much enjoyed this series and read over a long weekend when travelling! Love a bit of time travel, throw in dinosaurs and survivalism and I’m all over it! I found the dialogue clunky in places and friendships/romances jarringly speedy (the author clearly trying to move storylines on) which annoyed me e.g. enemies becoming best friends within about 10 pages; declarations of undying love after knowing each other about a week. Maybe I am cynical, or just old… Anyway, it didn’t stop me reading and I thoroughly enjoyed the concept and plots throughout the series.

A strange event results in a time shift to millions of years ago, when dinosaurs ruled the earth. People in the northwestern United States try to survive with the leftovers of a gone civilization while fighting for survival in the new situation. Multiple people are followed from teens to adults as they struggle for survival while adjusting to this new scenario. Walled cities, much like the Middle Ages, is the norm but these walls are to protect humans from the huge and violent beasts that stalk this new world. Can some people survive outside the walls, is the question of the day.

Balance and perseverance

I had to balance my delight for this amazing story with my absolute dislike of the main character “Rogue” and there is such a thing as too much dumb dialogue. If you live in a world with dinosaurs and someone says “Run!”, are you really going to question it? Repeatedly? Throughout the entire series? Otherwise, this imaginary world was well done and I kept my irritation leashed enough to finish.

An interesting twist on time travel

I thoroughly enjoyed the entire collection.
I did feel the ending was a bit anticlimactic and left things hanging, but I'm sure that had a lot to do with the intent for there to be sequels which I'm looking forward to.
I would recommend this book to any sci-fi adventure fan that in particular likes time travel twists and also any that are also fans of dinosaurs.

Exciting story

This set of books has lots of different people's stories intertwined together. It covers from the beginning of the shift through surviving in a world that none could have expected ever see. The world building is realistic and the characters are believable. It has twists and turns throughout. I loved it! I would recommend it.

fantastic Read!

I’ve always loved dinosaurs, always wondered just what they’d have been like to be around them. I can’t begin to imagine the research this series would have taken to complete.
If your zombie fatigued in the post apocalypse genre then dinosaur’s is a great change. You’ll love this complete all in one series - what are you doing? Grab your copy right now! Go to go!

Starting with the preview I was intrigued.

It only took the first chapter to get engrossed with author Higgins story telling. A time shift occurred through Portland Oregon sending part of it to the Primordial times, 65 million years past, this is their story!
Ability Higgins has given a look into humanity's will to survive with the dinosaurs we have on seen in museums.

Okay

I liked the storyline well enough, its the characters I don't like. Rogue is just so immature and inconsiderate that I'm not sure why you'd tell her story. And, I like Seth up until he became docile and capitulate to the whim of Rogues.

I found the series to be full of everything that I enjoy in a story. Action, drama, suspense, intrigue and of course deceit. It has a great storyline and excellent character development. This is a keeper so I can read it again.

The Shift

I liked the adventure and primitive setting. It made for a dangerous and exciting way of life for the characters. I would recommend this book to everyone that likes apocalyptic fiction. I gave it four stars because it was hard to stop reading. It left me wanting more.

Good story premise but the writing felt a bit more juvenile than I was expecting. It would fit better in young adult fiction as some of the conflict is resolved way too easily and simply. The story kept me entertained and I did enjoy the action.

Awesomesauce

Well organized books. Other books I have read recently jump from character to character, so its difficult to keep track of the course of events. This series does not do this. A little romance, a lot of adventure with a sprinkling of comedy. The perfect combination
