Magic powers? His own mech? A whole airship of gorgeous women desperate for his genes? Yes, please!
Paralyzed by a drunk driver, let go from his job, and stuck in a sad, stagnant town in the middle of nowhere, Joseph Locke was having the worst day of his life.
And then he died.
But considering that he wakes up with a brand new body, in the cockpit of a badass steampunk robot, on an airship of nothing but hot babes, his next life may not be all that bad. Especially when he learns that he’s a void mage—the rarest and most powerful of all mages on the world of Haven. And his shipmates want to help him make more.
As if that weren’t enough, they offer Locke a job piloting one of their mechs, which they call Titans. In the meantime, Locke has to learn his way around this exciting world, all while coming to grips with his new—and dangerous—occupation. Will he be able to master his Titan? How can he best upgrade the machine to become as badass as possible? Why’s a strange parasitic sludge falling from the sky? And what’s up with the ghost of a space witch living in his Titan—and inside his head?
WARNING: Titan Mage is a fun fantasy adventure containing steam both punk and smutty: raunchy sausage-obsessed mechanics, lusty airship captains, prurient mech pilots, and saucy language to match. (So don’t read it and then complain about the spice. Y’all know exactly what you’re getting into.)
This is a flat-out isekai without any game elements. Which is just as well because mechas are enough extra. Oh, and harem just because. The author says she wanted to write something with steamy content and why not mechas? And it mostly works, at least with those as the story goals. Wait. Did I imply that mechas have sex? Oops. That's not a thing. Thank heavens.
Locke is a typical stand-up guy, if a bit of a dork. He has had a run of bad luck and being pulled into an alternate world suits him just fine. Since it's a world where he has desirable genetics and people don't sweat the relationship stuff, it turns out great for him. He's on a ship with three women eager for his, um, talents and the rest flows from the setup.
The story was enough of what it needed to be, if a bit flat. Harper's Harriers needs the talents Locke has for the Titan they have lying around. Since he's a natural (naturally), this works out well and this turns into something of an establishing story for what will obviously be an ongoing concern.
And I'm not sure I need to give more detail than this. It's enough of what it needed to be so that the plot moved along nicely. I was engaged enough in the story that I'm going to give it an easy three stars.
A note about Steamy: There are three explicit sex scenes putting this on the high side of the middle of my steam tolerance. I skimmed them ruthlessly and that worked out fine. And yes, you can probably do the same math I did: three women on board, three explicit scenes, harem story...
I've been reading a fair bit of these LitRPG/GameLit/Anime-inspired fantasies of late. They're fun popcorn reading that I can usually switch my brain off and enjoy even though my exposure to the original source material is very slight. This one features a harem element which can be a bit squick, but the author is a woman so I thought it would be interesting to get that perspective.
In that respect, the harem aspect is setup in an interesting way with the world-building. Turns out that monogamy is a bit weird in this world, all child-raising is done by professional parents and pregnancy is down to a week because of time magic. And our MC is a particular sort of mage who's encouraged to have children and the biological mothers of those children receive a monetary bonus for having them. In short, the author has spent some time thinking about how to make a world where the MC would logically have a harem and it would be all the women's idea.
In terms of the rest of it, this is magic-based giant mech vs monster combat with magical airships in a world where a lost civilization has left working relics of their technology all over. It's a fun place to explore and there's lots of action.
I'm not normally one for spicy books, but there are so few good mecha books out there that I'll give anything a shot.
This one is very good. It conforms to your standard isekai tropes - MC get truck-kun'd and reborn into a steampunk world full of mechs called Titans which can only be piloted by... *drum roll* Titan Mages! And it just so happens that our MC is a Titan Mage, but the circumstances in which he's reborn offer more questions about the origins of his powers than answers.
As I said, this is spicy, so if you don't like that stuff, you won't like this book. But if you like grinding the gears, lubing up the joints, and handling some heavy metal, you'll probably find something to like here.
When I heard Edie Skye discussing her plans to release Titan at a Convention earlier this year, I was amused by the concept. Harem fiction isn't my typical jam, but I followed her page on Facebook to see how things progressed. Following months of funny adult-themed memes, and lots of art of… robots… big, beautiful robots… I got the chance to read an Advanced Reader Copy of Titan Mage and agreed I’d review it. I was hooked from the very beginning. As a teenager, I drooled over the Mechs of Robotech and Macross, and nothing since then has captured my love of those massive robots as the Titans of Titan Mage. Full disclaimer, this book is spicy. If descriptive sex scenes are a deal-killer for you, that's on you, probably look elsewhere. That said, there is SO much more to this book than boob-alicious women throwing themselves at Locke (our protagonist and titular Titan Mage). These are fully realized characters who you really care about as you move through the story. Magic, Monsters, and Mechs! If you are any kind of Fantasy Geek, there’s something in here for you. Edie Skye has created a world that compelling, clever, and often laugh-out-loud hilarious. I eagerly await the next volume.
This was interesting. The premise was good and overall the characters were good. The antagonist was a bit of a twirly mustache guy but I was okay with that. But it just seemed average to me. Not horrible and not great. It’s considered a portal harem fantasy but they could have just made it a fantasy with no sex because it wasn’t that great and seemed forced, rushed, and unnecessary.
Okay the story was definitely fun as I enjoyed the steam punk meets Robotech vibe I got. The character development is moving in a interesting way and the world building has me intrigued.
I just finished the Ultimate Supreme Hyper-Mega edition of Titan Mage and this is my totally original and not plagiarized at all, review.
When in the course of human events it becomes necessary to dissolve the physical bonds that connects one with their home universe and to assume the powers of Titan Magery sufficient to defend a totally different universe and live on a ship with five hot women who all really appreciate his new body.
We hold the truth, that this is some kind of "Harem story" to be self evident, and that the male protagonist was not created equally, that they were endowed with impressive "attributes" by the imagination of someone with hair that is most likely purple.
I wasn't completely sure what to expect, as I had never read a Harem Fantasy before, but being "not dumb" and also knowing the meaning of lots of words, had a pretty good idea of what I was going to read. (Side note: I'm not exactly a prude, but I am definitely a happily married monogamist who is uncomfortable with the whole "Harem" thing.) That said, I did skip through the "Haremy" parts of the story, although I'm certain they were as well written as the rest of the book(s) were.
All the "Haremy" stuff aside, this was an incredibly well written and enjoyable series to read. The story moved along at a good pace and I cared about what happened to the characters. Some reviews said this was predictable, but to them I say "all well-written stories are predictable because the author can't very well just kill off all of their main characters randomly, you numpty." The trope of this book requires that the main character becomes very powerful and ultimately wins, because how pissed off would everyone be if the bad guy ultimately won?" The only thing that matters is if you enjoyed the story along way, and I did. Is it Anna Karenina? No. Of course, it never tried to be. In fact, I would say it is the least "Anna Kareninay" book I have ever read and it takes not being Anna Karenina to new and wonderful heights. Furthermore, it is also not Great Expectations, but if you have great expectations when you start you will not be disappointed. (Provided you're not a numpty with unrealistic great expectations.)
What is not to love about giant robots stomping around killing stuff? Nothing. Nothing at all.
If I were pressed to find a fault, it would be that there are no tacos, but they do have great brisket so I figure that eventually someone there will figure it out and become the most powerful person on the planet.
I recommend you give this series a try and if, like me, you're not into the whole "Harem" thing, use your fingers and just turn the pages until those sections are done. I submit that is what fingers were made for.
More than fantasy-Science-Fiction, this new novel series is Fantasy-Grammar, the author creates new words, out of the blue, sporadiscally fantabulous-maximonioust. If the author can invent words and suffixes for them, why can't I? So it is a girl author that loves mecha robots and harem sex in her fiction novels. It's not every day that one gets to read one of those. Her character description adds on a sentence or two to the average low to no descriptions books like these usually spend on describing the physical and personality traits of the main characters. The world development is close to zero though. The sex is a tad too much. Although because the writing originates from a woman, one can't argue as strongly for sexual harassment on the job, sexual blackmail, or sexual assaults through enslavement contracts in another world. In this case the victim is the guy. A one in a million reverse-harem-victim-being-an-exploited-guy. Of course, the story is good enough for all the sex that was written not to be necessary. Also it didn't need to be so graphic. There is no warning on the cover or before the book starts about the amount and intensity of the adult situations. No warning to underage minors not to read this book either. Peth, the core/being that looks like a "witch" according to the author, isn't really explained well. She went to Earth to find and convince Joseph Locke in Kentucky. Was all that an illusion/mirage? Has she the capacity to create a visible body (like the one she created in this other world for Locke)? And if so, why wasn't there any of the matter missing to account for her body size and shape? So Locke is not a real human, more like an cyborg-android-shapeshifter? Why does she only show up alone with him? Why doesn't she help him drive/pilot the Mecca? Why doesn't she train/give support to Locke about the piloting training? Why if she brought Locke to this other planet, does she have such a short explanation about her in this first book? There are sooooooo many plot holes missing from just this part. Supposedly then Locke is no longer biological. His body is made up of the matter they use to make magic with. (Mana-Aether-Ki-Qi-Magical essence, etc.). This first book is short. With small descriptions to the characters. So much so, that we do not know who the girl on the cover is (Probably Alyssa, but it could be a self-portrait of the author, or a neighbor, or a family member of the illustrator, etc.) This first book has 200+ pages, no maps, no inside illustrations, character descriptions, etc. There are 18 chapters, so each chapter is about 10-12 pages long and about 20+ pages at the end are just self-promotion by the author. The fights and action scenes need a lot more descriptions. Especially if they are about fighting robots. The author doesn't describe whether the Mechas are on the ground, in the air, meters apart or miles. Doesn't describe what the arms do, where the legs are, so with such little descriptions in the "fight sequences", the Mechas could literally be sitting down while shooting from far away or right next to each other. How big are the Mechas/Robots, how big is the carrier/plane/ship in size? All of this missing information, makes for this story less than it could have been. Even the amount of money that Locke got paid in their first job, the girls said that it would cover the cost of a meal. A meal where? and of what? is it like a street-food-vendor or more like a regular restaurant kind of meal? This story could have been written a whole lot better. With much less sexual distractions to use as fillers by the author.
Great idea; bad delivery. Giant robots and harems; what's not to like? Apparently, bland story and flat characters. The MC is basically, boring isekai character that couldn't even bother getting hit by truck-kun but die like a sim. The author for some reason tries to make you feel bad about his pre-isekai life. As he is in a wheelchair, which is sad. However, on his way to regaining is ability to walk. I mean, why have this? It's not even a bonus character building. If he was completely wheelchair bound; being isekai with working legs would have been kinda nice. Anyways, he ends up in a new world and gets to control a robot and he meet up with is team. Which happens to be all women. That's great for a harem but all the women have the passion for sex/lust/love as a job and tax relief. So, when it comes to sex they are happy to do the deed but it's more like "deposit sperm here, Mr. MC. Please and thank you". Also, the author is not skilled at art of sexual imaginary. Logan Jacobs or Tamryn Tamer can turn up the heat; as they are artist in word smiting sexy scene. Titan mage...well it felt...sad and disappointing. I actually skipped it in the hopes the story was griping...it was okay-ish. The MC is bland and a whinny complainer that ask a whole lot of dumb and useless questions. Titan mage, what a great opportunity what a let down. How can a witter make giant meccas boring, it totally surprising.
So, interesting way to the new world. The big bad was a little obvious and one dimensional, but I'll take that over the other characters being that way. So the other characters... definitely have their shticks. Whether they build from caricature to character remains to be seen. The world the main character goes to its very sexually free, allowing for all the smut. That put in place the smut was paced out at least, The set ups at least entertaining. It's not bad, not the best, but solid and has enough variety to warrant the amount. The MC works up his skill from inexperience in the beginning to better improvement. Magic system is different enough, with steampunkish elements with the magitech. MC being oblivious allows reason to explain the world. The biggest jarring thing is, when it's MC's perspective but "He did this," instead of "I went to do this." How is it both from his perspective yet feels like he's not telling the story?
That aside, I'll give the next book a shot and see if the other characters develop into people to care about.
Creepy alien sludge, battles, magic, titans, and steamy encounters!
Nineteen-year-old Joseph Locke didn’t have a lot going for him in Grassroots, Kentucky since an accident left him confined to a wheelchair but things just got worse. Now that he has been fired from his job and has no family to rely on, Joseph could use some good luck for a change. That’s just what he gets when a headhunter named Peth offers him a well-paying job with Harper’s Harriers, as long as he is ok with relocating and a lot of traveling. When Joseph signs the contract he loses consciousness and wakes up inside a two-story tall robot on board a spaceship with three luscious female crew members. His new job? The pilot of Titan Chimera onboard the Blue Heron with its’ crew of buxom bounty hunters in a multiverse where magic is the rule and the action is non-stop.
This is an exciting series starter! I can’t wait to see what is in store for the Blue Heron’s crew next. The possibilities are endless. I received an advance copy but my review is honest and voluntary.
At my request I received a copy of this audiobook in order to give a fair and unbiased review.
Genre: Isekai progression sci-fi Harem with mercenary magician mechs
Power dynamics in harem: Girl in Harem is boss, girls desire MC Explicit/adult material: Explicit and good.
Summary: Joseph had a sad life in the middle of nowhere. He was paralysed after a traffic accident and he just lost his job. When a beautiful lady offers him a well paying job far away from the hellhole he has been living in he takes it. Shortly after he dies. When he wakes up it is in a new body and with powers as a void mage. A rare magical affinity that makes him qualified for piloting a titan - a giant robot that can interact with his magical powers. Being a void mage also makes him extremely attractive as a mate. And he just happens to wake up inside a Titan on a space ship with several hot women in need of his help.
Narrators Voice diversity: The voices are diverse and recognizable Pacing and intonation: The story is told engagingly and carries you away Sex scenes: Well done.
Overall: 4.5 / 5 stars.
The book’s strengths. - The titans are cool. Who doesn't love a mech - The girls feel different already in this first book - I find the challenges of trying to survive and thrive as a mercenary company in a sci-fi setting interesting - The narration
The book’s weaknesses. - No weaknesses come to mind. I look forward to the next instalment in the series.
Our hero may have died and gone to heaven, or at least that is the way it seems to him. His new life gives him a chance to pilot a mecha and get very personal with his new heroine crewmates. It doesn't get much better than that.
This is book one of the series, so a fine place to start.
This is a litrpg story with both a steampunk/mecha and harem theme. The story is pretty well written and easy to read with a really intriguing setting. I like how it is setup and look forward to exploring it more in future books. I also like the characters. The hero learns pretty quickly and the various heroines are a lot of fun. They provide a nice variety of personalities, even if they are a bit stereotyped. And they certainly have no problems with lots of steamy activities. Overall, this was a fun introduction to the series and I look forward to seeing where it goes next.
Highly recommended.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout for review purposes.
A Harem Mech Fantasy seems like it would be an uncomfortably quirky story, but it actually turned out to be an entertaining experience.
An underdog MC is given a new lease on life and trying to make the best in a world of mages and mechs. The MC is a grounded, low-key, go with the flow character that knows when to stand his ground. His personality blends well with strong willed, stoic, and/or free spirited crew he falls in with. There are a lot of enjoyable moments between the group. Whether they're cracking jokes with each other or cracking heads of bad guys, every moment was simply fun. The story, as a whole, is pretty linear, but that isn't meant to be taken as a negative in this situation nor does it take away any enjoyment.
Overall, this was a refreshing story I didn't think I'd appreciate.
This book was a 4 ish, the series as a whole seemed fine, but there are things that definitely grate on you. I don't know what other people were reading, but the ero parts are just porn, dialog is like when tv is trying to parody it. Skip it. The main story was decent enough to keep me reading. The relationship starts out casual, but they grow closer, even Bexley...
Bexley... She offers to sleep with every guy they come across, there is a difference between saying someone is f***able, and propositioning someone to their face. Seems like the only thing stopping her so far is the guys rejecting her, and her assurances after she wasn't interested anyway...the contract they signed in open, but it's still weird reading it still happening in book 2-3 when she also seems to want some kind of relationship with the mc.
The cover art is fantastic - It has a hot girl and a giant robot. It's quality art, engaging, colorful, and fun.
That's exactly what's between the pages. You get a fun story about a young man who literally gets to live his best life piloting a giant robot in the company of beautiful women with an interest in him. It's a fast, fun read that delivers on the promise of it's cover. It's a harem adventure, which means spicy - age of consent content only - but the book stands on its own without those bits.
It's a good book.
My inner fourteen year old loves this book, but I only recommend it for adults. You should read it. But I'm sure that judging it by its cover already told you that.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I enjoyed this book though a bit short. I like the whole premise and think there is promise to the series. Mecha, magic, and babes. What's not to like. The MC has half a brain which is unusual in these books and a solid moral compass to live by. I love his being "born" (reborn) in a new world. Naked covered in goo and dropped out of the bottom of a bi-ped (mecha). Nice symbolism. The book has good humor throughout and the battles are gritty enough. The magic is a bit nebulous but hopefully fixed or improved in next book. the magitech is fun and hope more is focused on the details there as well. Over all fun book hope the next is longer though.
“Titan Mage” is breathtakingly good. Not breathtakingly good considering it’s the author’s first foray into Haremlit, but breathtakingly good, period.
On the day he gets fired from his job, a wheelchair-bound man gets a job offer too good to be true, and soon finds himself in a new world, with a buff new body, and an incredible new job. Yes, he gets to fight monsters with a giant stompy robot, working with a team of smokin’ hot ladies who (literally) want to have his babies.
This is a must-read for fans of spicy literature who love mecha anime but wish you could get it in a clunkier, steam-powered, gauge-filled package. I loved the combination of steampunk tech with a well-developed magic system. The worldbuilding feels easy and smooth, and compliments the story rather than slowing it down.
“Titan Mage” is also full of solid banter and funny moments, some of them laugh-out-loud. I can’t recommend this one enough! This is definitely a series to follow.
This book has been floating on my recommendations for a while. Had some time to kill so I figured why not.
Writing is good, the characters are interesting and well fleshed out. The combat is well written and the world has some interesting mechanics, magic and lore.
The sex is very vanilla and not as kinky or varied as I expected. While no kinky sex and other sexual practices are not necessarily a bad thing, depending on the author it could have added some more spice to this story.
Overall well written. Just not well written or interesting enough for me to get the next book in the series and highly unlikely I will read anything else from this author again.
This was my first novel of this type of genre. Edie knocked it out of the park. The characters were 3d and well-developed. The Harem parts were believable, and I can understand why Locke was initially confused and hesitant. He was in an unfamiliar place, with an unfamiliar culture, and not sure why he was there or really where he was. As for him being able to pilot the Titan so well, he was a gamer and computer programmer, so he could visualize things better than if he was just some untrained schmuck off the street. I'm looking forward to the next book.
A young man in a wheelchair gets recruited for a job. What he did not realize was, that the job was not on earth.
He gets transferred to another body on a different world. He meets three women on a airship and their initial reactions are not what he would have expected.
His job - Piloting a mech.
I haven’t peeked into the other books of this series but expect the main arc will be the secret of his mech and the connection between it and the civilization that died out thousands of years ago. But that’s just a guess.
Took a chance on this new author and wasn't disappointed. Really enjoyed the world and the magic. The robots were awesome and the action scenes well written. Liked the characters, very entertaining. The only negative that I found that I hope will change in later books is the harem seems more like friends with benefits at the moment but hopefully they will change into full relationships in upcoming books.
I hadn't read anything by the author before (including other pen names) but I thought I'd give this a try for something a bit different. It's a very fun story with a quick start on the isekei front and has enough spice to keep those looking for it interested without so much that you can't go a chapter without adult material. The story works well as a stand-alone, but leaves plenty of room for new story lines without the need for a cliff-hanger ending.
I’ll be honest thought this was a steampunk book… but was magic
Usually I don’t like novels that use bent logic in magic usage to get a chacther into the fantasy world but Giant Mechs I can get around now we just need a kaiju to get the fun going.
P.S.
Try an make the naughty parts longer author your making the Locke seem like a one-an-done type of guy with how short each section was.
This book is a slightly varied version of a well established genre. But it’s very well done. The world I pictured while reading wasn’t gloomy despite the steampunk type world. It was refreshing to read. Plus the characters are honestly all pretty good and the story is funny.
Well written with no typos that I found. Harem mechs certainly never done before. The bad, character descriptions is limited, we barely know what the main characters look like and no idea on the MC. I also did not like the no marriage and baby contracts. Will read the next one to decide if I will continue reading.
The main character goes from zero to hero improbably fast. He falls into a new job and saves the day for his all female crew in a highly improbable way. This is all held together by an improbable plot, using improbable technology on an improbable world. Also there is a lot of improbable dialogue and improbable sex.
Isekai stories tend to be funny and a little light hearted. This story so far has that and more. The character development has been good individually, but it gets better when all together. There are elements that remind me of Sci fi and fantasy books I read as a teen and it just makes this even more enjoyable. Edit Skye did a great job in writing it.
