Lauren Page is an incredibly talented violinist. She's won more than a few competitions, and some even believe her to be one of the best in the country. She's been dubbed by many to be a child prodigy, as she's been playing since she picked up the instrument at three years old. But now, just a summer away from starting her life in New York at one of the most prestigious art schools in the country, she's having a difficult time finding that old spark within her. The music just doesn't feel like it did before. She's scared. Scared she's not good enough. Scared of being a failure. Scared to even try. In comes Conner, an amateur skateboarder and a not-so-amateur photographer, who literally falls into the most important summer of Lauren's life and tries to show her that she's everything she fears she won't be.
Crescendo is a story about friendship, family, and first love. But, more than anything, it's about a girl who is trying to figure out her life just before it really begins.
What question wonderful and heartwarming story! This was quite coming of age as much as it was a love story and was so captivating!! The characters were so well written and I l love how they developed through the story as did the evolving friendships and relationship. I binged the whole last half of this in on day!
A dream come true for Lauren. Attending a prestigious school in music - Juilliard. One night her hopes have taken a dive. Her spark has gone, how will she get it back? Slow start. Things start to shake up for Lauren in the shape of Connor. Her young heart has fluttered. How will this effect her and her dreams.
@ 30.4 D.N.F Unfortunately not having the flow of read in this book. No disrespect to Alysun - perceived the slang differently. Was on the concept of Domination etc read. Loved the cover, this is what drew me to thee book first. Had been perusing the cover for a while hence the read. May go back at a later date to read with a fresh mind. Will update if there will be a change.
* due to being a kindle book, not given opportunity to download on another device (kobo ereader) read on IPad and didn’t have the same feel.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book about a young musical prodigy called Lauren who essentially loses her passion for music at the beginning of the book. I loved Lauren’s character and found her to be very relatable. I loved the build up of her relationship with Connor too. The side story around her friends Claire and Sam was a sad one, but very realistic to real life. I’m hopeful that Kevin will get his comeuppance. I read this more as a book about self discovery than a romance. Very well-written, emotional and thought provoking. The book is available on Amazon, and I would whole heartedly recommend it!
One of my very first reads from Wattpad, and I'm so glad that it has been self-published! A coming-of-age story that deals with fears (imposter syndrome!) and overcoming them. I love Conner and Lauren's chemistry. It's my second book from Alysun, and she never disappoints. And btw, the dog, Penny, is so cute. Hehehe.
A coming of age story, Lauren is a down to earth girl who loves her friends and family but is in desperate need of finding herself. A story of friendship, family, love, forgiveness and acceptance. A five star binge worthy read!
