My Way Home
Reese Dixon is spending the summer before college with her estranged father in rural Mosaic Grove, Wisconsin. cute non-spicy romance
The complicated web of relationships and personal growth Ellison Lane wrote in this novel was very good. She added some twists into this second chance romance that kept you guessing if Reese and Shamus would end up together or not. Add in each of their complicated familial upbringing and complicated pasts and I flew through this book.
A quick read divided into two parts set 10 years apart. I loved the opposites attract vibes of Reese and Shamus. Reese and her fathers relationship evolved through the pages as well which I enjoyed. This was a cute non-spicy romance.

She’s forced to leave behind her glamorous life in Malibu, her rockstar mom, Jetta Rose, and her alter ego Johnna Rose in exchange for helping out with her dad’s construction empire in the Midwest. Before long, Reese has developed a short but intense relationship with her dad’s right hand man, Shamus Samuelson. When things blow up after a fight with Shamus over a club appearance for Johnna Rose, Reese does the only thing she can think of and bolts back home. Ten years later, Reese is called back to Mosaic Grove and is forced to reconcile the past and decide what she wants her future to be.
This book delivers a real one-two punch to the heart. I will warn that there are jumps/lapses in the book that aren’t stated with a label at a chapter head so it can be slightly confusing but given the length of time the book spans I understand the need. This is an excellent book to pull for if you need a good cry - very emotional. This sounds bizarre but this is a mashup of Hannah Montana meets The Notebook. I recommend for those looking for a long game, closed door romance with a big payoff.

Ellison always writes the sweetest stories and this one did not disappoint. It had a little bit of everything, and Shamus is just the cutest country boy. His patience with Reese knew no bounds--his heart's as big as his construction equipment. I loved Reese's man-of-few-words and understanding father. What a gem! And Reese...that girl was frustrating at times 😊, but she always found her way. She's an act first, think later personality, a product of her lavish lifestyle as the daughter of a famous actress/singer. But that privilege hadn't spoiled her. It was fun to see her work in the dirt at her father's construction company in Wisconsin as effortlessly as she did in the spotlight.
In this book, we get two parts of their story: their young hearts coming together and then 10 years later. The road to their second and third chances wasn't as easy as falling in love the first time and there's a lot to unpack. But true love never dies and it's worth fighting for. BTW: Young Reese and Shamus melted my heart. 💜

Wonderful book about finding love (twice) and finding your way home.
The characters were lovable and easy to connect with. The Wisconsin setting was realistic and as a former Midwesterner I could definitely picture the rural landscape and dirty gravel roads while I was reading. The relationships between characters were warm and touching. So many moments that I could relate to made me want to keep reading until the end. There were some emotional parts, but the story ended happily.
