About the author

L.H. Chevalier is a fantasy author from Czechia who writes about second chances, found families, and the impossible choices we face when we can't be both the person we want to be and the person we need to be.
He grew up on fantasy, falling in love with the escapism it offers. Before he began writing, he thought finishing a novel would take years—why start something he might never complete? And yet, he tried. Now he writes to give others the same escape he once found in stories.
He's a writer with mind, a poet by heart, and a weirdo for life. He writes from a wheelchair, fighting Friedreich's ataxia one story at a time.

oh my goodness, this was such a fun read. I really liked the pacing despite being a short book.
the author's writing style is easily digestible and humorous. I liked how simple the world was, too.

the friendships were well written without feeling rushed or pretentious.
what I, however, loved the most was the instant father/son love the Baron had for Enriel.
(I was rooting for Enriel and Anne, though 😅)

although, there was no explanation to Enriel, I didn't feel like the book needed that.

The baron would swear that his eyes belonged to some wild animal and not to a young man.

I look forward to the sequel.
I didn't think I was going to like that wacky barony so much, where slapping is the order of the day. It was just imagining the scenario and laughing to myself.

I just feel like I lacked more time between that father and son to really feel the connection but with the behaviors they tend to have in that place it's not at all uncommon to get attached in a short time.

No pensé que me fuera a gustar tanto esa baronía medio loca, donde las cachetadas están a la orden del día. Era imaginarme ciertos escenarios y reírme sola.

Sólo siento que me faltó más tiempo entre ese padre y su hijo para sentir realmente la conexión pero con los comportamientos que suelen tener en ese lugar no es nada raro que se tomen cariño en poco tiempo.

Tal vez sean los colores...

At first I wanna say about annotation. It's really adorable and deep.
First several chapters were so interesting, but in the middle of book I started to think that characters so srange. Many of moments when Enriel meet Anne were definetly wild without logic, because they know each other a few weeks and in books is nothing about moments when thay can would closer. So I didn't understood why Anne so fell with main character. It doesn't make any sense.

But history so interesting, sometimes it steal breathe trully. And jokes really amazing, thank you so much for them! I don't like the end of the story just 'cause I would know what's wrong with Enriel, who is this, what in him? Author didn't give any chanse to know it.

Maybe if this story had more detayl it would be great, 4/5. But it haven't, so today just 2/5. And Ibelieve that if author will continue writing, his books will clearly lit.

Interesting story, the first book I've ever read with a background like this one. while reading this book I was very invested in Enriel's behavior, very curious about what he would do that day, at what point he would manage to escape or even decide to stay. the Baron is my favorite character, although it was very strange when he decided to 'kidnap' Enriel.
The author has a good premise, but I still find parts that are cringy and feel like amateurs.
The comedy in this book doesn't suit my taste, but I admit it is quite entertaining.
I was very curious about Enriel's background, when he was in action for the first time, I shouted 'I KNEW IT', he was not an ordinary boy.
A light but interesting read that will make you curious.

This was a delightful little novella. It struck me as having a fairy tale sort of quality that I liked, and that was what initially appealed to me. As I read on though, what surprised me most about it was how humorous it was. I definitely chuckled a few times while I was reading. There was some profanity, which doesn't bother me when reading a book, unless it's excessive and out of context. That wasn't the case here, as I found myself chuckling at the characters’ use of profanity, and I think that was partly because it was something I hadn't initially expected. I did enjoy it though, it was very light and easy to read, and it made me giggle.

I found the storyline and characters of the book intriguing, but I expected more from their interactions. While I grasped the idea behind every character, their connection with each other could have been portrayed more vividly, thereby making it a more captivating read.

Additionally, I have several questions about the story, such as Enriel's origin, his fate after everything that happened, and whether he is a beast or a man. What will become of Anne as the baroness? The book leaves many of these questions unanswered.

Overall, I enjoyed reading The Unknown Son, and I believe it has great potential for a sequel. Thanks to Booktasters and the author for the opportunity.

I might like this series as it progresses.but for now the first book I have mixed opinions .
Waking up in the middle of the forest not knowing who he is the main character's description is very good.
The mind voice and setting is nice

But as the story progresses it becomes strange. So the reader is forced to read.

The gravity of the character becomes not bearable. Felt like the middle of the book author lost his interest and wrote continuosly.
But I will wait for the next book .
If author writes furthermore books in first person narrative it will be good.

I wanted to give three stars but four is ok.

I started the book a few months back but couldn't continue with it because I had what I call a reader's block. So I dropped it. I came back to it a few months later and I finished it in one sitting as it is that good. I'm not going to lie,the beginning of the book made me ask myself questions that I couldn't get answers to and the questions only intensified as I read further. It really is an interesting read that trying to explain it with words can't do it any justice.

A mysterious boy was found in the forest by a baron and his friends, and when the boy woke up, he didn't remember anything, not even his name. Then, the baron took care of him and even allowed him to meet his family. Everything's fine until it's not.

It's a short story, but still, it took me on a little adventure. I liked the story telling, even though it sometimes confused me when it was shifted from third to first person, but I was able to adjust eventually. There are parts that made me smirk because they were kind of funny, and there are also parts that made me sad, especially the bond between the baron and Enriel. I feel the genuine care of the baron for him. Also, there is a little romance between Rili and Anne.

This book has a mysterious vibe with a little touch of magic. I liked it so much, but I just hope I can read the next one because I have a lot of questions. All in all, I enjoyed it to the point where I finished it immediately.
