Tympany is the goddess of the heart and mind. She has the ability to control and inspire the actions of those around her. She’s spent the past 5000 years in Kylantis with the other gods, itching for adventure and longing for the day she could leave to explore the realm below. With the war between the kingdoms of Sleotha and Esteopia growing more catastrophic, Tympany volunteers to travel to Esteopia in service of her family. While there, she meets Blekket Elrod, who intrigues, annoys, and charms her with his large ego and even bigger heart. Through falling in love with him, she discovers that what she’d been taught to believe about the conflict between the two kingdoms may not be the truth, and must determine which side she’s really on, even if that means going to war against her family.

OK WOW! This was such a unique story that I simply could not put down. I was captivated from the beginning and each character I have become so enthralled with. The twist at the end was something I did NOT see coming and I desperately need book two!

Something I really resonated with was Tympany finally being able to come to her own conclusions about life and politics without the constraints or pressures of her family. I loved the friendship between her and Pessy and their loyalty and love for each other. And of course…Blekket our consent KING is such a babe.

All in all. This book was ~magnificent~
I highly recommend.

this was the best book that I have ever read! It’s a beautiful love story with so many twists and turns, with the most amazing ending! What I was most impressed by was how the author displayed consent. I’ve never read a book before that really properly showed what consent looks like within a relationship. All in all, it’s a must read!

All I can say is WOW. First 5 star of the year and I would rate it higher if I could. This will absolutely be one I will read over and over. And one I wish I could read again for the first time so I can fall in love with it all over. The story telling is amazing and it was very well thought out.

I love gods/ goddesses and they way Kyla had them all set up is so cool. The absolute plot twist had me gasping. The whole book had me laughing and crying and truly feeling like I was in the world. I can’t wait to read everything else she writes. For a debut book, she set her own bar high. Absolutely an author to watch.

Dare I say this book is…… magnificent 😉😏

Not a fan of where the character’s are heading. Annoyed that a 5000 year old woman still acts like a spoiled child. I was excited to read a book with the MFC being older, most fantasy romance novels have YA characters so I like the prospect of having a female lead with more wisdom and life experience but that was not the case at all.

The only word to describe this book is magnificent. I LOVE Blekket, Tympany, Raevon and Pessy. The relationships and friendships were so cute. Some shocking plot twists. Really funny. Great writing. And that ending! It’s a perfect book. I am in love.
