Parker's been given his latest mark. Killing is his job and he's one of the best. Something about this next job isn't sitting right with him and then there's the redhead he's recently become obsessed with. She'll never understand his lifestyle and he knows it, but maybe it's time to retire and leave it all behind for a chance with her.
Kasey lives a life of solitude. Going to work, counseling the kids at the local middle school in the rough town of Maroon, then going home to an empty apartment. She barely scrapes by from month to month. Her only treat to herself is having Sunday dinner at the diner down the street and indulging in a slice of homemade pie. She doesn’t need or want much of anything until he walks in and saddles up next to her at the bar for a cup of coffee to go. Everything screams at her to stay away but she can’t.
