The Hyperion Network

Rate this book
What if the mass killings in the news had been prevented? In this thriller, hate-crime survivor Sophia Borghese leads The Hyperion Network, a private intelligence agency created to do just that. Hyperion employs cutting-edge technology envied by the NSA and field agents trained by the world’s best spy agencies. Hyperion has uncovered a white nationalist threat called The First Cull—a day of carnage in three countries to jump start race wars. The police and security bureaucracies consider the threat “aspirational.” Sophia and her teams race against the clock to stop the charismatic engineering genius behind the plot and save thousands of innocent lives.

Praise for THE HYPERION NETWORK

Electric with suspense, THE HYPERION NETWORK sends hotshot tradecraft expert Sophia Borghese on a desperate journey into some of the darkest places of the data and artificial intelligence communities. A former lawyer, Sophia is running a secret operation against time to stop mass murders of Jews and Muslims who’ve been targeted for a one-day execution. Author Laura Manning knows whereof she writes and weaves in fascinating insider intel. Smart, intriguing, and unforgettable."
— Gayle Lynds, New York Times bestselling author of The Assassins

Manning takes a terrific cast of characters and unveils the world behind the scenes of intelligence gathering while not sacrificing any of the intense action and twists. I look forward to more adventures with this network!
— Jeff Ayers, Co-Director of Thrillerfest and author of numerous fiction and non-fiction works including Voyages of The Star Trek Fiction Companion

Laura Manning has written a remarkable book, taking a threat straight from current headlines and creating a page-burning thriller, skillfully blending fact and fiction, leaving the reader wondering; what's real and what isn't? A tense and exciting work, this book will keep the reader captivated from beginning to end; a great read!
— Dr. Robert B. Watts, National War College Professor and expert on white nationalism

Threats posed by white supremacist groups are frequently in the news and the subject of political thrillers. Relying on a high-tech private intelligence network to try to prevent the deaths of hundreds of American Jews, this well-written book is smart and compelling, with characters who are three-dimensional. Using her own experience in the CIA, Manning raises thought-provoking questions about the price we are willing to pay for safety and security in this modern world. I could not put down the book until I came to the surprising ending.

Great Book!!

This is not my usual genre of books, but this spy novel has it all - great characters, interesting plot development, some things to keep you guessing throughout the story, and great writing. Really enjoyed it and highly recommend!

I was eagerly awaiting the release of "The Hyperion Network," and I loved reading it. The characters are well-developed, the story is engaging, and the suspense is real.

Laura and I worked together for many years, and I had the honor of reviewing some of the early drafts of this work. I could not be happier with how the book turned out.

This was a fast paced read which was very illuminating as far as the use of big data and technology to identify actual terrorist threats. The back story and character development of the ace operative, Sophia, reminded me of that legendary fictional operative Gabriel Allon. Some of the dialogue was stilted but this is a debut novel and I am sure this will improve with experience. Great read - I hope we see more of Sophia.
