Audrey MacIntosh has lived in Castle Rock, Oregon since long before the growing town had a name. Long before the railway came through in 1881, and even before her Pa was hired on as Postmaster in 1883. As a matter of fact, she’s never lived anywhere else. At least not that she can remember. For those reasons, all she wants to do is leave.

When Noah Davies arrives in the small town of Castle Rock, he’s immediately drawn to the scenic view and majestic towering mountain slopes... both a far cry from the modern city of Philadelphia, or the buttoned-up world of universities and hospitals. Perhaps answering the advertisement from the town’s retiring physician wasn’t going to turn out as foolhardy as his parents warned.

Will Noah’s first unofficial duty as a judge for the yearly quilt-making competition rile up some of his newly acquired patients? And, how crazy does a man have to be to admit he’s fallen head-over-heels for a beautiful young woman who barely knows he exists?

ADVENTURES, CHANGES, AND BLESSINGS

The story is part of the Christmas Quilt Brides and is a stand-alone (as they all are) in the series. The story will take place in Castle Rock, Oregon, and the town will be getting a new doctor when the other one is retiring.

Noah Davies has accepted a new position as town doctor for Castle Rock. It will be a big change from his home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and his education at Harvard and Yale. But he is ready for change and new challenges.

Audrey Pearl Macintosh has dreams of being a writer and believes that to accomplish that, she will need to move away from Castle Rock. Along with her friend, Sarah, they have considered moving to San Francisco, California, to pursue their dreams.

“Sometimes the best way to discover what you really like—what you really want—is to step out of your usual routine.” –Missus MacIntosh

The story is a clean historical western tale that has a great cast of characters and interactions. Audrey will have the privilege of interviewing the new doctor for the town’s newspaper. Her parents are the owners of the town’s mercantile. Many are surprised when Doctor Davies arrives, and he is a younger man, not married, and that will have many mamas parading their single daughters in the hope of a match. There is an instant chemistry between Audrey and Noah, and the more they interact, the stronger it becomes. But what about the mention of a fiancée back in Philadelphia?

Audrey: Are you sure about this, Noah?
Noah: Yes, I am, Audrey Pearl. I’ve never been more positive of anything in my life.

The story will have more information about the supposed engagement of Noah, his feelings that are developing for Audrey, and his acceptance in the town of Castle Rock. The town of Castle Rock will also have several Christmas blessings. The story is sweet and endearing and leaves this reader with the coveted happily ever after ending.

“Some things in her life were never going to change, especially where Sarah was concerned. However, the more important things, were about to get really, really interesting. She was sure of it.”

Escape to a bygone era and a simpler time in this delightful Christian western romance. Nancy Fraser whisks the reader away with her descriptive narration, engaging characters, a quilt competition, and a sweet romance.

The story unfolds in a small western town in Oregon where the biggest news is a new young doctor has come to stay. All the mothers and eligible daughters are all a flutter except for Audrey. She’s only interested in writing an article about him. All she wants is to save enough money to leave town to make her way in the world as a writer. Can love change her mind?

This may be a short read but it packs a wallop. The emotional narration will tug at your heartstrings. The setting of a small town in Oregon in the late 19th century frames an inspiring historical romance. The characters are honestly written and historically accurate. The romance, though, is what makes this book stand out from the rest.

The romance is very sweet, touching, and slow burn, as are most romances in this time period. Nancy Fraser’s writing style is reminiscent of classic romance from years gone by. It isn’t about passion but about falling in love with the person. Nancy Fraser writes for the romantic reader, giving her all expressively so the feelings and emotion are at the forefront. This book will make you fall in love, like you did with your first love.

I simply adore this book and want to read more in this delightfully sweet series. I strongly recommend this book!

Can dreams change?

Audrey knows exactly what she wants for her future and exactly where she wants to be...her heart however has other ideas...no matter how much she fights it!
Noah knows the minute he meets her that Audrey will change his life, he also knows he will need to convince her, woo her and show her that love isn't a cage, that she can still make her dreams come true from right here at home.
I really like both Audrey and Noah, they are both strong characters and are very involved in their town.
A lovely read on Kindle Unlimited.

Merry Christmas, Baby!

Aspiring writer Audrey works in her father's mercantile store to help her family, writing articles for the local paper, and plottimg her escape to the big city in search of better opportunities. Noah arrives in town from Philadelphia to replace the retiring doctor, leaving his fiancée behind, and is immediately smitten with the pramatic and independent Aidrey.

The character peopling the town are all interesting and make this story unique. American historical romances are not my preferred reading genre, but this one caught and held my attention because it was neither cliched nor formulaic.
Due to the time period depicted, the clean and sweet classification is not noticed as a choice, but rather is a natural result of the time and culture. I was happy I chose to read this story, especially the part about their first Christmas Eve as a courting couple. If they could survive that, they could survive almost anything. Merry Christmas, babies.

I received an ARC copy of this story directly from the author and voluntarily chose to share my review.

A unique series with Quilts, Christmas and romance. Each story is a stand alone with different settings and a variety of quilt patterns. Audrey works at Macintosh General Store owned by her parents, but would like to be a famous author. Noah is the new doctor at Castle Rock, Oregon. Include Thanksgiving, a Winter Fair with Santa look alike, pie and quilt judging and the romance is a page turner. Oh and the miracle of some Christmas babies. So make a cup of hot chocolate, add a piece of pie and snuggle under a quilt for a delightful holiday read.

Audrey has plans to get out of Castle Rock and make a name for herself as a writer. Noah is the new doctor in town. His engagement foils the plans of the town's single women and their mothers. What if his fiancee doesn't want to leave her comfy life back East? The author has done a wonderful job - an interesting town, unforgettable characters, and an engaging couple who will both get their dreams.

Sweet Historical Romance

I loved everything until the last scene. It seemed quite inappropriate in a Sweet Romance. But the rest of the book was wonderful! Although I have read a few from this author, she's still fairly new to me. Many authors write in multiple genres and levels of heat. Maybe that last scene was something an editor should have caught if that's the case.

A Busy Doctor

Great story with two characters determined to find the future of their dreams. The question was, could they do that and still be with each other? I enjoyed the town dynamics and the budding romance. What a way to spend Christmas day. A good read.

Interrupted plans.

Audrey only wanted to leave her small town and see the world, but that all changes when she is asked to interview a new resident for the local newspaper. A light hearted clean romance.

If a story can be cute, this one has it tenfold. This is the perfect example of a fun, wonderful Christmas Story, ending with lots of babies!
