Clay Latham Mystery #1

Alexander's Ring

Rate this book
When a beautiful and mysterious Gypsy professor elicits his aid, southern small town private investigator Clay Latham has little idea that he himself is already a part of a hidden mystery decades in the making. Is he the pursuer or the pursued in the deadly maelstrom of violence, greed, and Romani power that threatens not only his life but the very foundations of his cynics' heart?
An obsessed, scheming madman and his sadistic Dwarf henchman hold all but the last Tarot card as time runs out on a mystery bounded by the infamous Mississippi graveyard of the Gypsy King! This hilarious and dramatic romantic mystery thriller (that seems a cross between A Confederacy of Dunces and The Maltese Falcon) will keep you guessing until the final pages—who will grasp Alexander's Ring?

this is a wonderful book. sort of sam spade with a southern drawl. a noir mystery complete with private eye, beautiful and exotic lady of mystery, and two villains who would feel right at home in the old Wild Wild West tv show. nice work, david.

Great read, though it was kind of strange reading about so many places I know from growing up in the town where the book is set.
