Apocalypse Command

Jay Luckrun was your typical dorky weirdo. A lover of street dancing, anime, action movies, and comedy. But everything changed when a divine creature chose him to be a dungeon crawler of the Multiverse. He fought monsters in another dimension and returned home to slay hundreds of assassins.
He’s still a jokester. He tries to look past the consequences of having a System that he bends and breaks. It's fun gaining new levels, stats, skills, loot, and magical powers while teaming up with the most interesting people ever. Why stress over the small details? But with more power comes more responsibility.
Because the Champions need a strong and unique leader to face the Apocalypse.
The gods plot revenge. The assassins lurk in the background. The rules of the game are shifting and turning more monstrous. And the world is transforming into something new, which might be Jay’s fault.
With his new life and his Chance becoming more unpredictable, Jay and his fellow Champions face harder challenges. But the changes Jay will see might push him in a direction that’s freakier and more powerful than before.
After all, he has gravity and divinity on his side. He has the power to influence everything.

Tone is wrong, the more you read the more you grind your teeth
I think the author is going for a Jester of the Apocalypse feel, but shanks it.
Rape, torture, alcoholism, and child abuse are all treated weighty but superficially, grist for a tragic background of a rising hero. Just one more challenge to overcome.
The writing is good and the world is interesting, but I’m not sure I’ll be reading more with the choices the author keeps making.
The darker heavier choices kinda overshadow the central bizarre icky writing choice. That the MC apparently has had a crush on the FMC since she was 3 or 4 at a daycare together. From 6 to 17 they never speak and rarely see it each other. On her bday he finally asks her out after finding out about her magical background, and through out the books keeps doing so no matter how often she says no. The FMC isn’t innocent in this and often encourages him, but it’s not a star struck romance, their every romantic interaction makes me want to call a therapist and the police. They stalk each other, they manipulate each other, the deliberately harm each other. That the author views this as high romance worries me.

I’m not sure that I buy whatever is going on with the System Admins
This book felt interminably long. Why would the System remove Jay’s capacity to share EXP when they clearly don’t want him to get any stronger? Why is it not permissible for a pantheon to utilize the very System mechanics that are set to invade the universe anyway? Just because Jay understands how the narrative can drive Chance seems to be a bit unreasonable for the Admins to get so pissy.

Major improvement
This book was a lot of fun. I'm still grinding my teeth every time the past/present/future tenses get mixed into soup in a single sentence or paragraph, but it was honestly a lot less than the first book.
Glad I stuck with it, this series is a blast. Very interested to see what the newly gained affinities do.

I'm in love/obsessed with this series and I cannot wait to see what happens next!! Jay is evolving very fast which is freaking out a lot of beings and he is hilarious. More chaos, antics, power, death, dancing, and comedy to come. I am looking forward to read more about Jay's, Kleos, and the Pantheon adventures.

Wow. One of the Highest ranking litrpg series
I came across this series in a Facebook group because one guy said he couldn't unbeaten why the teen hero was drinking. The trauma of the MC and his family, friends and soon to be allies is truthful and painful. The comedy of errors is joyful.

good story, abysmal writing
Feels like a high school kid wrote this book over the weekend and published it without proofreading. If you are a high school kid looking for a good book to read; look elsewhere. The colloquialisms are all wrong. Every single one. Like he says, cool and collective, instead of calm and collected. He says, death bells, instead of death knell.

deeper into insanity
Having the MC and some of his fellow champions, be aware of and attempt to manipulate the narrative without Breaking the fourth wall… Amazing.
I can’t wait for the next book.

The series has an interesting take on the genre.
Unfortunately, the premise basically requires playing into the roles of each character which results in whole sections focused on teen drama and playing it up.

Zaniness continues
I really enjoyed this entry into the series. The absolute storyline driven craziness continues in something that reminds me of a Tarantino film. I loved it and binged right through.

Great Stuff
This series kind of grew on me since I was forced to read this prequel to Rogue’s Ascension. This story of a young goddess who is trying to setup her court was interesting. The young man she’s grooming to be her mate is a Gravity Freak.

System and World Building
The system building and world building are fun. The character development is crazy good even though it comes in short bursts outside of the main character. The teen angst and hormones are palpable.
