A Whitman Book from "Lassie," the Classic TV Series. In " Trouble at Panter's Lake" there is TROUBLE BREWING! Nearly strangled when caught in a heap of junked cars, Lassie survives--and struggles to save beautiful, unspoiled Panter's Lake for her friends, both human and wild.
Steve Frazee was born in Salida, Colorado. He began making major contributions to Western pulp magazines with stories set in the American West as well as a number of North-Western tales published in Adventure. Not surprisingly, many of Frazee's novels have become major motion pictures.
The author of these Lassie books, Steve Frazee, was awarded the Lassie-Forest Ranger Conservation Award. This one especially shows why; all the different wildlife living around the lake. Hopefully many kids became conservationists as a result :)
While most of the Lassie books are a painful read, joyfully, this isn't one of them. The spotlight is on Lassie, and the nature around her. One of the best Lassie books I've read yet!
