Windhorse Woman: A Marriage of Spirit

Rate this book
In Windhorse Woman, Lynn Andrews' spirit marriage to Windhorse marks the end of the journey she began in Medicine Woman, the story of her search for a marriage basket.

Outside of Kathmandu where the majestic Himalayas thrust their jagged peaks into Nepal's azure sky, Lynn V. Andrews begins a new journey. This odyssey of the spirit will take her to an ending and a beginning: the completion of the circle of learning first described in her wonderful autobiography of her life as an apprentice shaman, MEDICINE WOMAN, and the start of another quest for the truth only reached through struggle on the human path.

Over fifteen years ago, Lynn Andrews became an apprentice to Agnes Whistling Elk, a Native American shaman woman from Manitoba, Canada. Since then, her special mission has been to share with us the discoveries and warnings she has learned. In a time of hate and chaos, her purpose is to teach balance and caring; in an age when humankind is destroying the Earthmother that gives us life, she is to show us the healing powers of female consciousness and the power of primal woman.

Initiated into the Sisterhood of the Shields, a group of 44 shaman women from all parts of the world, Lynn still has far to travel on her spiritual journey. Now, a dream guides her, along with Agnes and Ruby, another Northwest Indian shaman woman, to a remote valley high in the Himalayas. She carries with her a magical gift, a key to help the Sisterhood unlock the knowledge of women that has been hidden for the last 3,000 years.

But waiting for Lynn is an even more precious kind of gift, a marriage to a man who is both spirit and flesh, herself and yet not herself. Before this, some male energies have been her mortal enemy, like Red Dog, the sorcerer who has tried again and again to destroy her. Now a new male force, Windhorse, is joined in a ceremony of love and passion to the female, Windhorse Woman. This oneness carries with its important lessons for us all: "To fall in love, one must not be afraid to die." "If you are afraid of death, you will not live your life." These thoughts and many more wise, moving and often haunting mind images of desire, death and rebirth fill the reader with their immediacy and raw power.

"Words are a sacred tool and must be honored as such. When used carefully, words have magical healing properties. When used to judge, to hate, or to separate, words are deadly. The words you will be using in this workbook are your basic tools for healing on this journey. Treat them with respect. Honor your words." ~ Lynn V. Andrews

Loved the books - every one of them. Treat them as mythology or as absolute truth. It makes no difference, the larger truth is as real to me as the Cosmic Christ. And to me, that is real! Beautifully written, loved her relationships with her spiritual teachers. For me, these books were real medicine, true spiritual healing.

Reading this, I kept forgetting it was an autobiographical account of one woman's search for inner truth... Magickal and mystical, yet so incredibly real, Lynn's story is easy to get lost in. A must read for any woman (or man) seeking to find balance and truth beyond the confines of dogma and duality.

Although I question the validity of this non-fictional autobiography, I absolutely loved this book. Perhaps I’m not quite ‘there’ yet... how I can across this book and what it has opened my mind to is yet another mind blowing step in this path I’m being drawn down.

One of the less compelling books in this series, but still too good to stop reading.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE...NOT SO MUCH BECAUSE OF THE STORY...EVEN THOUGH LYNN TELLS A LOVELY AND POTENT TALE...BUT BECAUSE OF THE THEME...THE SOLAR WIND HORSES. THEY ARE AKIN TO THE TIBETAN AND NEPALI PRAYER FLAG HORSES...AND PEGASUS. IF YOU STUDY THE MOVEMENT OF ELECTRONS IN A SOLAR WIND AND THE SUBSEQUENT EFFECTS UPON GPS AND UPON PERCEPTION...YOU WILL GET A SENSE OF WHAT IT IS LIKE TO STAY ON ONE OF THESE SACRED HORSES...AND TO GUIDE YOUR ARROW STRAIGHT TO THE TARGET AND BEYOND...TO FREEDOM. TO HANDLE THEM, YOU NEED MIRACULOUSLY WATERED HANDS OF LIGHT.

I'm pretty sure this is one in the ongoing series with supporting characters Agnes and Ruby, and Lynn V. Andrews herself as the protagonist. I'll have to go back and check that this isn't one of her books not in the series, none of which I've read.

Probably Lynn Andrews' best book so far. Even though all of her writings in the Medicine Woman Series all have one connection, the power of the feminine spirit, this book was a bit more enjoyable. As always her books are simple and fast to read, but enjoyable.

Lynn trekt deze keer naar Nepal met een magisch geschenk dat een sleutel is voor het openbaren van vrouwelijke kennis.

She really wrote beautiful things about her Spirit Husband.
I liked the obscure but touching poetry in this one.
