Jonah Black, of course, grew up in Pompano Beach, Florida. He attended boarding school in Pennsylvania until recently when, under shrouded circumstances, he left and has since been picking up the pieces of his shattered life. And checking out all the Florida chicks.
Personal Response: The book just like the first, was very good. Once again one of my favorite parts about the book is the fact that no matter what Jonah does, he can't get over the fact that he loves two girls at the same time, but in different ways.
Plot Summary: After Jonah falls off the diving board at the end of the first book, he wakes up in a hospital with tons of nice flowers and cards to get better. Jonah after spending many days in the hospital realized that Cecily Lecoy, a girl he hardly knew, visited him. He wanted to tell her how much it felt for her to come see him even though she didn't know much about him either. She then asked if Jonah would go to this big boy band concert with her called "Lemon". Jonah said yes because he wanted to make up for her visiting him. That same day Posie, one of the two girls that Jonah is in love with, said that she was having a party at her house the day of the concert and she wanted him to come. Jonah decided he would have to try to come up with some excuse to go to Posies party after he told Posie he wasn't coming. Jonah calls up Cecily and tells her he has tons of pizza's to deliver for "First Amendment Pizza." Cecily is a smart girl and easily figured out that he was lying. After a while all of Cecily's friends called Jonah and told him how big of a jerk he is. Jonah didn't want anyone at the party to recognize him because he ditched Cecily, so he wore a disguise. He wore a suit and tie with a big Bill Clinton mask, and he talked in a funny accent. While he was at the party he saw Thorne, his best friend and the person dating Posie, and Thorne was cheating on Posie with this other girl named Luna. Jonah told Posie in his disguised voice about it, but when she got suspicious to who he was he booked it all the way home. About a week later Posie came over to his house and told him that she knew he was Bill Clinton. So they started dating and everything was all good until Thanksgiving. Thorne and his parents, Jonah, Honey, Jonah's mom, Rovere, and Posie were all enjoying there meal, when all of sudden the phone rang. It was Sophie O'Brien from Masthead Academy. She told Jonah that she was so thankful for what he did for her. She said she wanted to come down to Florida the next month and be with him.
Character Analysis: Jonah Black- At the beginning of the book Jonah was struggling with normal life daydreaming instead of living. He was living an imaginary life. In the middle of the book Jonah finally jumped into reality dating Posie his friend for many years. At the end of the book Jonah jumped back into his imaginary world. Posie Hoff- At the beginning of the book she was always dating the wrong people, people who never fully treated her right. At the end of the book she was dating Jonah and they were very happy together. Thorne Wood- At the beginning of the book Thorne seemed so rich and he always seemed to be apart of some business. At the end of the book THorne was actually very poor and he worked on a old fishing boat with his dad and they had to move to a very bad house.
Recommendation: This book just like the first is so much like living life. This book is about living life while you can and making the best of it. If you want something to read while living your life. This book, in its series, is for you.
I also fell in love with the second part and finally found out how it was with the expulsion from his former school 🙏🏻. I was frozen by what happened between Thorne and Jonah, but in the end I would say that it probably turned out well, maybe even better than I expected :D. I recommend the book again<33
i have FINALLY remembered the name of these books i used to read as a 6th grader when i used to sneak up to the teen section of the library. i remember being scandalized and tantalized and loving it. my rating is pure nostalgia but i'm probably going to re-read this soon.
I forgot I had read these a long time ago and enjoyed them but never finished the series. I was in middle school at the time and wanted to be a stud too.
Teen lust, loyalty and fixation. I liked this better than the first part because he drifts into fantasy much less, with the nature of Jonah's self sacrifice revealed. It is probably going on too long with a third book in the works.
