My rating may well change when I finally get around to going through this book in detail, playing through all the examples, and adapting them to things I play. I bought it more than 20 years ago and have dipped into it a lot, but can't think of too much influence it's had on my music - yet. As with many things in music, you get to it when you're ready.

I've always been a fan of Jim Hall's guitar playing and have transcribed a lot of his chord voicings in particular. It's good to see that he is obsessed and organised with his approach to music. As a player he opened the door for so many more.
