All women have them and yet, few women truly understand them. Now we have bOObs, A Guide to Your Girls . This is the ultimate guide to breasts. It is estimated that 85% of women in the US wear the wrong bra size and many women expect their breasts to betray them, either with age or through illness.
bOObs takes the mystery out of breast health, awareness, and perception and celebrates the unique individuality of women of all ages, races, and cultures. Each chapter contains web and written resources, plus illustrations and sidebars with entertaining information on little known facts, trivia, and the best breast trends. Filled with personal, true stories (“mammoirs”), readers are given practical and useful advice from breast experts—lingerie fitters, clothing manufacturers, doctors, personal trainers, and others—on what to expect from their breasts and how to put their “best breast forward.”

This probably should be a Young Adult title. I felt like I was in a high-school sex-ed feel-good-about-yourself class while I was reading. The reader's digest version of this book is "everyone's breasts are different; yours are normal; take care of yourself and get a good-fitting bra". Not nearly as interesting as I thought it was going to be.
This book isn't that clever, or well written, but it's fun to read stories about boobs. Also, this book revolutionized the way I shop for bras. It's a good read for free, but I would feel like a fool if I paid for it.
The right combination of a light, funny voice and serious material. Everything from development, care, fashion, medical concerns...it's all there. Well done.
This book was such a blast to read - not sure what some others are talking about. I wasn't born under a rock but I did indeed learn a lot from this book, most importantly to get a bra fitting which completely changed my life - I've been wearing the wrong size for over 20 years! That alone is worth it. Plus, I'm tired of books about breast health that are so heavy-handed, dull and clinical. This book was sassy, smart and didn't talk down to you, but felt like the coolest older sister you know was giving you an informational lo-down combined with confidence boosting tips and insights. It's about loving what you have OR feeling okay with breast surgery if and when you decide that it the right option for you as well. Point is, women should be able to appreciate breasts, do what they want with their own, and we as a society should stop judging. Women seem to be the worst judges of other women's breasts of them all, at times.
Women don't talk about their breasts like this with each other and it was refreshing to read this fun, entertaining but amazingly insightful gem. I would run and get this for every teen girl you know - or even your own adult best friend/gal pal!
Why: The book could be a lot shorter; a lot of things that have already been talked about get repeated. The writer talks like she's your bff, in this girly, cutesy way which can be rather exasperating. There's also a lot of "Put your breast self forward," which would've been fine a couple times, but not every other sentence! It does a good job of covering basics, but it was all stuff I already knew. If you're going to get a book about the body for your daughter don't you want one that will answer ALL of her questions?
I purchased this book after reading reviews from Amazon. Those reviews must come from the authors friends. What a disappointment. The target audience must be teens.
Save your money. If you must, flip through the book at a bookstore. You will see there is no reason to purchase.
Being an admitted victim of America's unrelenting assault on women and perfect bodies, I found this book refreshing and inspiring. I am less likely to consider a boob job now:) I would like to visit a country where being natural is really not a big deal.
They are not just for men to ogle. I find it interesting how boobs are viewed in other cultures besides the US... they are recognized more for what their purpose is.
I put this book aside when the author had a boob job done. Haven't gotten back to it. I've put it on the back burner for now meaning I think I will finish it within the next few months.
I loved the fun sassy play on words and phrases throughout this book. Witty and smart with great info. People pick this book out of my bookshelf ALL the time!
