Although the attack itself was too small to do much real damage to Tokyo, it was nevertheless a massively important symbolic turning point in the early part of World War II, raising American morale which had been so low in the aftermath of Pearl Harbor and other defeats. Lawson's attack of this daring raid was first published in 1943 and was filmed the following year, starring Spencer Tracy as Gen.Doolittle.
This sixtieth anniversary commemorative edition features a new forward by aviation historian Peter B. Mersky, a new introduction by the author's widow, Ellen R. Lawson, as well as many new photographs.
