Demonstrates the flaws of the Kumon method. Without understanding subitization, place value, number sense, learning numbers beyond 30 becomes an exercise in mental photocopying. This appeared in Vader's reluctance to write three digit numbers despite his overall ability. Furthermore, the structure of the book, consisting of connect the dots and writing in number-lines feels intellectually lazy. There are a bunch of other ways to practice the same number sequences and variety is what helps make the repetition passable.

So we started Singapore math, went through a few other Kumon books, finished a few Star Wars workbooks, before finishing this one, and I'm going to treat Kumon with more skepticism going forward.
