Recently I gained access to an electronic copy of the just released
Getting Started with Oracle SOA B2B Integration A Hands-On Tutorial Krishnaprem Bhatia written by three authors all Industry experts on SOA/B2B Integration .
Here is the link to get the Book
Each scenario is described on concrete example step by step, with lots of screenshots. After the example then follows an explanation of principles how the things are working and additional tips and explanations of similar or wider areas of use.

This book has done a great job of introducing B2B at both conceptual and operational levels. It covers how B2B leverages next generation technology with go live from Test to production.

The book is well-written and covers the entire B2B development cycle from installation to deployment. It is fast-paced and thoroughly explains each concept as it is presented in the text.
This book fills the gap by providing step-by-step instructions to build a B2B project in SOA.

chapters: 0-1 of the book describes the history B2B and standards, trading partners e.g: Hub and Spoke, Peer-To-Peer etc. but offer also very good introduction to the standards, protocols, etc.

chapters: 2-5 of the book offers a very good step-by-step introduction to Oracle B2B 11g,message sequencing, configuring trading partners, e.g. : how to create documents, setup the transactions, process flows in B2B. This part I would be really helpful to all those who are new to Oracle B2B.

chapters: 6-8 of the paper focuses on integration with Oracle SOA Suite, but not forgotten by the BAM. You will also learn what is the difference between business and conversion reports how to use the partners or system metrics. Specially would like to pick up chapter 8 – exception handling, where you will learn how to create a custom exception handler, how to process exceptions with human task and BPM Worklist.

And the last chapters: 9-11 of the document focuses on go live, security, production, and some advance topics i.e here you learn how to use and configure SSL not only for the Oracle B2B but also for the Oracle SOA Suite, how to prepare B2B in production environment, step-by-step how to migrate test environment to the production environment.

By reading this book for SOA Developer, you will be able to reduce the time it takes to become proficient as a B2B developer. It will make an excellent reference guide for its examples that show the proper approach to B2B development.

This book is really handy tutorial that allows you to quickly become familiar with the problematics of the Oracle B2B. I read a book very easily, because it is very well written and from a high level point of view, this book could be divided into several parts:

The first part (chapters: 0-1) of the book describes the history B2B, parterns e.g: Hub and Spoke, Peer-To-Peer etc. but offer also very good introduction to the standards, protocols, etc.

The second part (chapters: 2-5) of the book offers a very good step-by-step introduction to Oracle B2B 11g, e.g. : how to create documents, setup the transactions, process flows in B2B. This part I would really recommend to all those who have no experience with Oracle B2B.

The third part (chapters: 6-8) of the paper focuses on integration with Oracle SOA Suite, but not forgotten by the BAM. You will also learn what is the difference between business and conversion reports how to use the partners or system metrics. Specially would like to pick up chapter 8 - exception handling, where you will learn how to create a custom exception handler, how to process exceptions with human task and BPM Worklist.

And the last part(chapters: 9-11) of the document focuses on security, production, and some adavance topics i.e here you learn how to use and configure SSL not only for the Oracle B2B but also for the Oracle SOA Suite, how to prepare B2B in production environment, step-by-step how to migrate test environment to the production environment and many other useul things.

My conclusion is that: Before I started reading this book, I did not know much about the Oracle B2B, but after a few weeks with this book, I got a very good basis! So Yes! I highly recommend this book for everybody who want to quickly get to problematics of the B2B or/and wants to start working with Oracle B2B. Because, with this book you will have quick success.

When I started reading this book, my understanding of the term B2B was minimal. This book gave me an insight knowledge of the area and provided me with good foundations on start experimenting with the Oracle Implementation as well as the Industry B2B Standards.

As new to B2B I started my journey by following the chapters in the order they appear. The journey starts with an introduction to B2B and the EDI and XML based B2B standards.
It continues with an overview on how to setup the Oracle provided SOA Suite / BPM Virtual Box Image as well as how to setup a domain to support B2B. This section provides enough information for a new starter to have a SOA Suite installation up and running in a few hours. No previous knowledge of SOA Suite installation is required as everything is bundled in the VM. (It worth's to mention that you will need an understanding of the basics SOA Suite / BAM concepts in order to get the most of the book and especially chapters 6 and 7).

The rest of the book presents Trading Partner Management, Transactions, SOA Suite Integration, Reporting and integration with BAM, Exception Management, Security and how to get into production. I personally found the preparation for go live chapter very interesting as it provides tips which will help you tune your system. This information is usually found after going live so it is noteworthy that this books provides it beforehand. It also worth's to mention that the book provides links to Oracle Documentation so you can read more on an area if needed.

I found it very pleasant to read although I had no previous experience with B2B. I would recommended to first read all the chapters and then try and experiment with the examples provided. The content is overall technical and any reader with basic experience in systems integration should be able to pick the B2B concept very quickly.
