I really enjoyed this series. It is amazing with how thick this book was and how little happened throughout the series, how it was able to capture my attention so fully. My only complaint was

It was well written, but I didn’t really like the story line much 😕 Whitlow’s other books are better!

Third year law student, Tami, has the enviable choice of two job offers and two men for whom she feels affection. Tami wants to know that her choices, both professional and personal, follow God's will and don't entail compromises to her faith.

One of Tami's first cases after being admitted to the Bar is a felony burglary by a young girl who everyone suspects is a runaway but who would rather face prison than reveal her identity. Her terror is palpable, and the danger is real.

The story was interesting and well written about a young girl running from an abusive situation, and a new female lawyer who helped her.

But there was a mystical female pastor who had visions or prophesies telling people what God was saying to them through her. She spoke authoritatively and people who thought they knew God's will in one circumstance reversed course because she gave them a new word.

I’ve seen people tell others what God is saying through them and it turned out to be inaccurate. They believed it completely as they were saying it, so I don’t think they were trying to mislead, but if they’re wrong, then it’s a false word "from God". It's possible God uses people to speak truth for others, but prayer should always be a part of seeking God's will.

Story, 5-stars. Down a star for the prophetic female pastor as the definitive word from God.

This books was easier to take than the previous 2. Tami makes up her mind about a lot of things. The revelation to Sister Dabney and reliance on that is pushing the edge of orthodoxy. I liked the way Whitlow developed the character and story of Jessie, though the end result was a bit over-the-top. No resolution on the bearer's certificates — seems that they should have gone in trust for Jessie, but that was never addressed. The character of Mrs. Fairmont develops. I do actually like the way Whitlow portrays her coming to faith. I also like the ending of Tami's decision about her relationship with Zach and Vince. There was a bit of heresy, in my opinion, with Sister Dabney — "No room in my heart was hidden from her view." Only God can see that deep.

I enjoyed this series. Admittedly I am reluctant to read Christian fiction because I find them to be predictable and flat but I enjoyed this series. Some parts I found to be corny but overall this book did make me think. I liked the challenge the main character faced in seeing that some of her life practices were rooted n religion, not faith itself. I liked the female character who was prophetic.

Well, OK slow to start, picked up, slowed down again, then picked up toward the end and had a "happy ever after" ending. Just a sweet story line, but a good series.

Good ending to the series once Tami finally figured out what she wanted. Loved the method used to get her to convince her which man was Mr. Right.
Sometimes I could smack that girl.

As others have noted, the first book was a fav of the series.
THIS SUMMARY/REVIEW WAS COPIED FROM OTHER SOURCES AND IS USED ONLY AS A REMINDER OF WHAT THE BOOK WAS ABOUT FOR MY PERSONAL INTEREST. ANY PERSONAL NOTATIONS ARE FOR MY RECOLLECTION ONLY
**
After meeting with Sister Dabney , Tami decides to go into practice with Julie and Maggie. Tami continues to live with Mrs. Fairmont. The book introduces a young runaway Jessie, who comes to Savannah after running away from her stepmother and some crooks. She steals some food and is arrested and Tami is assigned to defend her. Jessie had taken a pouch from her stepmom when she had run and it included some bearer bonds that men were seeking her out to find. When Jessie is kidnapped, Tami and Zach stumble on more than they bargained for. Through it all Tammy never wavers from her faith.

**

The protagonist, Tami, is almost unbelievable in her faith walk. Her family is commended for their loving home, yet so much of Tami's upbringing seems so incredibly legalistic and jarring at times. She needs input from her parents about dating, and other decisions, even though she is a law school graduate ready to join a firm. It's difficult to understand how Tami can become a successful lawyer coming from such a protected upbringing.
This third installment ties together plot threads from the previous two books and while the first half drags a bit as Tami figures which law firm to work for, it really picks up when she meets Jessie
**
"Greater Love" is Christian legal fiction and is the third book in the series. I strongly suspect that people who have read the first two novels will find this a more emotionally satisfying book than those of us who haven't. By this novel, the two guys who want to marry her have already done their heroics that gained her affection and things were pretty bland in their interactions. The heat level was something like 0.5 out of 10. Also, since Tami otherwise kept to her highly conservative upbringing, her willingness to go to a very different church with a woman preacher and follow her advice like it was infallible doesn't quite make sense without reading the previous novels where they met. So start with "Deeper Waters" if the series sounds interesting.

While there were moments of suspense, the main focus of this novel was Tami's decisions about which firm to work for after passing the bar and which of two very nice but very different guys she should marry. So the pacing was more along the lines of a general fiction rather than a suspense novel.

I was so excited to read this series, because I really like the author and saw a lot of great food for thought in the first book. I expected so much of it to be explored, but after the first book, it all went down hill except for some memorable moments. By the time readers got to second book in the series, they were promised a lot that never came through--such as a "walk through fire" that was promised for Zach and a "storm" for Tami that wasn't much more than a day at work for many people.

The characters needed much more fleshing out, though the main character got an inordinate amount of time allotted to her restrictions in dress, habits, and beliefs. There was SO MUCH potential for growth through two of the characters in their pursuit of "greater love," but we saw very little of their heart and minds in personal struggle, only snippets of awkward conversations. Some readers will be put off by a brash character with a special prophetic gift, but with so little interaction between the two characters who should have been given the print space, it was actually a good side diversion. She should have had her own story. Several other characters began a journey that was hinted at and never fulfilled, and some situations were never resolved. I found all the loose ends unsatisfying.

There are some good moments in this book, and I enjoyed some laughs out loud at certain interactions, but I was disappointed and felt cheated from the reward of a good story. Not far into the second novel in this series, I was so exasperated that I went to the end of the last book to determine if I even wanted to spend time reading the series. I ended up scanning and reading what I thought might be worthwhile, and even then, was disappointed. So much of the series was spent on a relationship with an elderly lady and with Tami's strict family that it bogged down the story and did nothing to reward the reader for toughing it all out.

I wish the author would re-write this series on his own, without the publishing editors who probably are the reason for the chopped-up feeling in this novel. It had a very rushed ending and an emphasis on unnecessary Hallmark Channel moments instead of the heart of the story. This novel--this series--could have been SO much more.

My second attempt with this author but not sure I will try again. The young heroine is serving in the court of law. She is a Christian who wants to serve God first. It takes about 50% of the story to GET to the story. The back story weighs the movement of the book to a crawl. I like legal suspense to move along and keep the reader hungry for more. However, this book tries too hard to carry the reader along Tami's spiritual journey that you want to yell out "Just make up your mind". She wobbles back and forth in indecision asking others to tell her what to do. She listens to an extremely unlikable lady preacher/prophet which also is bizarre due to her strict up bringing. This prophetess causes an uproar in Tami's law office that is very disturbing. There were things I liked about the book but it really drags along. BTW, the girl she helps legally is in jail for stealing a donut. This seemed very strange to me. The young gal does have a much more serious back story and problem, however.

There were parts I really enjoyed and parts that frustrated me. The book really focuses more on Tami's personal life than her law career. It starts slow and gives a lot of everyday detail with the actual case not starting until the 50% mark. I liked Tami and seeing how she turned to God to direct her path. Julie was entertaining as always and kept Tami on her toes. I did not like that the women preacher from book two was carried over into this one and how outspoken she was to some and not taking into account the way she came across to others. I really enjoyed Tami's interaction with Mrs. Fairmont and the witness Tami was to her. I was very interested in Jessie and her situation, I wish it would have played a larger role in the book and wrapped up a bit better rather there were some questions left unanswered.

This is the last book in the Tides of Truth series. Tami Taylor's come a long way since the first book! Mr. Whitlow pulled out all the stops with this one! When he introduced a new character, I had no idea just how she could be woven in to this story. All I had to do was give him a little time and WHAM! there she was. I am glad the series is over but don't begrudge the time spent reading/listening to it. I'm going to take a break from Mr. Whitlow and revisit another one of my favorite authors, Irene Hannon, as she has a new book out called Blackberry Beach.

If you give this series a try, give each book a little time. It will be worth it in the end to see Tami grow up in the real world outside the protection of her family and her home town of Powell Station.

I have read many of Robert Whitlow’s books and usually really enjoy them. This series is not my favorite of his books. I enjoyed the third book more than the second. Tami continues to stay faithful to her faith and convictions. She is a young woman rookie attorney is obedient in the most trying times which include a kidnapping and a murder. The book introduces a young runaway Jessie, who comes to Savannah after running away from her stepmother and some crooks. She steals some food and is arrested and Tami is assigned to defend her. Tami is example of how you truly can live a godly life in an ungodly world.

Robert Whitlow has become my favorite author. I have read perhaps 10 of his books, and they are all interesting, exciting, and peopled with characters you come to love. He unveils many legal insights along the way, as befits the writer-lawyer that he is, fascinating and realistic tidbits about the justice system and those connected with it. Best of all, his Christian spirit and beliefs imbue all, even when presenting some very sordid bad guys and girls as part of the plot. And everything is so believable - no sensationalism - that you hate for the world he has put you in to come to the last page. Before I'm done, I'm pretty sure I'll read every novel he has ever written and wish for more.

Robert Whitlow is a very good story teller. The main character, Tami Taylor, was frustrating at times but ascended to new levels later in the book. Her sheltered upbringing called into question a number of issues that are worthy of reflection. At times, it seems she couldn’t cross the street without calling her “Mommy and Daddy.” However, the author redeemed her and she came through toward the end of this three book trilogy. It is important to read these books in the order that they were written

Book 3 continues with Tami Taylor as a newly minted lawyer in Savannah, Georgia. Teaming up with her summer law clerk friend Julie and Maggie from the DA's office, the three open a firm and take on a variety of clients. Sister Dabney is still issuing proclamations and causing a stir. Tami suddenly finds herself - thanks to Judge Cannon's assignment - representing an underage burglar. Twists and turns have her digging for the truth while navigating her relationship with Zac and Vince. Great finish for this trilogy!

Overall, this was an interesting series. I'll probably read something more by this author.

However, the "romance" subplot throughout the series was really weird and awkward and flat. Tami barely spends any time with the man she eventually chooses to marry, and much of the time they do spend together, they're disagreeing.

For this final book, I also found the solution to be WAY too convenient.

I listened to this as an audiobook.

I admit I did grow to love the reader! Suzy Jackson does a pleasing job with the various accents. By book 3 the heroine plus her issues seemed familiar and some of the other women were quite endearing. Yet again, the resolutions of the legal issues were left hazy though and some of the drama seemed a bit too much like a TV show. I recommend reading the books in order, as one long saga and would not mind a book 4.

The last of Trilogy. Final chapter removes any doubt. Less Lawyer language, more personal feelings and situations. The plight of a run-a-way, who's crime of stealing a stale donut brings the new lawyer into contact with both a public defender's role and as nurse mother. End of book solves the romantic part, but the case hasn't gone to trial yet and we'll never know the end of that. Too bad.

I did not read the previous books in this series but this one caught my interest at the beginning and continued through the end of this book. I loved how her background played a great part in how she looked at people and their needs. The fact that her client may look guilty did not deter her from handling and giving her best to this case.

Good wrap up on this trilogy

This set of books were not my favorite by Mr. Whitlow, but they were good and solid. Thought this last book did a great job of wrapping up all storylines and the Jessie storyline really helped the story along.

I LOVED this series. I really did. If you haven't read the first two books, then I highly recommend you do before you read this one. You will appreciate the ending so much more. It had mystery, very likable characters and a sweet and light romance that kept me turning the pages.

I absolutely loved this series. Three books was the perfect number to create a picture of the main character. This book is great for those who love clean mysteries with a broader story line that travels through three books.

Great ending to the series!! The pace really picked up there at the end and ended up being more intense than I had expected.

I must also say I am very happy with who Tami ended up with in the end. I was hoping it would be him from the start lol.
