I can't tell you how many times I read this book as a kid. I was pretty much obsessed with it. Lily felt like a real person who could easily be my friend. This book encapsulates all the struggles and emotions that go with wanting your own space. Perfectly timeless. If you know someone under the age of 10 who gets frustrated with not having any space or time to themselves, then they'll love it.

Children's chapter book series about a child adjusting to a host of new circumstances: moving from the suburbs to the city, starting at a new school, downsizing from a house into a small apartment, the absence of her father, and her stay-at-home mother taking a job. Protagonist is only six years old, a bit young for a chapter book.

In this book, Lily searches for her own personal space within their very small apartment. The answer was obvious to me from the beginning, but I enjoyed Lily's experiments and appreciate the author allowing Lily the space to explore options. I also like how the whole family pulled together to help Lily meet her needs.
