Finding a body in your nursery is kind of a big dill.

It’s grand opening time for Willow’s nursery. Louisa’s best friend is brimming with nerves, sure something’s going to go wrong. It doesn’t help that her beloved pygmy goat, Steve, has recently gone missing. To make matters worse, on the morning of her first day of business, Willow shows up to find her front gate wide open. She should be worried if anything has been stolen, but she’s somewhat more concerned with the body lying cold in the middle of the succulents.

When the victim is identified as an auditor for the department of agriculture with documentation showing Willow was in possession of plants prohibited for sale in the state, the local police look at her as their prime suspect. Willow, distraught, swears the auditor was mistaken. With a little digging, Lou discovers that Willow wasn’t the only one to have issues with the deceased man. To Willow’s dismay, it looks like they’ll have to venture into Brine, the pickle-themed town next door, to find allies if they have any hope of proving her innocence.

Eryn Scott is the author of heartwarming cozy mysteries. Her novels feature close friendships and strong families because those are the most important things in her life -- a little humor doesn't hurt either.

She calls the Pacific Northwest home and doesn't plan on changing that anytime soon. Eryn loves to hike, horseback ride, knit, ski, and read. She believes musicals are the greatest thing since lattes, even though she's not particularly good at singing or dancing -- hey, a girl can dream, right?

Her first cozy mystery series, Pepper Brooks, is based on some of the greats in classic literature. Each book features a different author from Shakespeare to Austen. Eryn's newest series is set in a little town called Stoneybrook. The Stoneybrook Mysteries follow local jam-maker Hadley James as she solves mysteries in her town's year-round farmers market. From deceased knitters to sabotaged florists, these crafty citizens keep Hadley and her twin brother, a deputy sheriff, on their toes. Pebble Cove Teahouse Mysteries are great for readers who love a hint of paranormal with their mysteries. These books feature a tiny town tucked between craggy coastline and rocky shores with quirky characters of both the living and non-living variety. Look for new releases from all three of these series in 2022 as well as Eryn Scott's new cozy series.

I enjoyed this book. Once again the town of Button and in particular Lou is solving a murder. Great for us, as the reader as we get another entertaining mystery to solve, not so much for the dead guy or Lou's best friend Willow, who is accused of the murder. Good job Lou is on hand to solve the case because to be totally honest I had no idea. I kept suspecting people only for them to be cleared a few chapters later. The cats and book shop aren't in this story as much as the previous books, which are all worthy a read if you love cute cats with your mysteries, this is because the story is focussed on Willows gardening business. That's not say Lou doesn't have to find a new home for a charming little guy. Loved how it turned out for him in the end. This is a great series and I am glad to see it is also making its way to audio book, so I can enjoy the clever mysteries, the cute cats, wonderful characters and delightful friendships again, while waiting for the next book.
The day doesn't start of well for Willow, first her pet goat goes missing and then she discovers a dead body .The body of the man who was trying to delay the opening of her business. Arguing with him just days before doesn't help and neither does not have her boyfriend investigating the case. Fearing the detective in charge will take the easy option and arrest Willow, Lou tries to come up with other suspects for him to investigate. Does somebody have a grudge against Willow? Or was the man himself the target? Lou will have to dig up all the clues to discover the killer in time for Willow to open on time.

Who Killed the Auditor ? . . .

Louisa (“Lou”) is going to have to solve a murder, this time helping her best friend, Willow, who has become the prime suspect. Willow is preparing for her grand opening of a gardening business. She sees her gate was wide open and she finds a dead man, Harley Bramble, the Lakeside County auditor for the Washington State Department of Agriculture, who was trying to shut down her nursery, his documentation claiming she had plants not allowed to be sold in the state. Willow had already had a bout with the man a few days earlier when he was accusing her of not following the proper quarantine periods for certain varietals and requiring a test for root rot before she would be allowed to open. All delaying tactics. But the heated argument with the victim allows the scowling detective make an easy judgment without really investigating this set-up. So Lou begins to investigate other possible leads. Did the victim have enemies who wanted him dead? Was someone trying to frame Willow? Time is running out and Lou will need to find answers or Willow’s business will be over before it opens!

This was a cute, fast-moving cozy mystery. Lou’s search has to fan out further than Button -- to the neighboring town -- as others also had trouble with this same auditor. And what has happened to Willow’s pygmy goat, Steve, who has disappeared?

It’s time for another trip to Whiskers and Words. The entire gang is busy helping make Willow’s plant nursery grand opening a success. It doesn’t take long for things to devolve into chaos, however. The nursery is broken into, unauthorized plants are discovered, pajama wearing pygmy goat Steve mysteriously disappears, and a man is found dead at the grand opening.

To make matters worse, Willow is declared the chief suspect in the murder, and she, Lou, and George decide the best course of action is to uncover the real murderer, save the nursery, and find Steve all on their own. A Whisker of Danger is book six in the Whiskers and Words cozy mystery series, and it’s without a doubt another winner. I love the Whisker and Words gang and hope to see more of their adventures soon.

Addictive read as per usual. Eryn is a ⭐️

I live for these books! I love everything about them, all the tiny thoughtful details Eryn puts into them. Whether it’s with a map (which the town of Button has and it’s beyond cute), or the literary inspired cat names, Eryn has a way of telling you a story and you think you know who the culprit is. In fact you have them put away behind bars and everything and she throws one final curveball and you’re out. (THAT was a sad baseball reference for those who have no idea what I’m on about.)

Do not pass these books up and be sure to check out her other series’ as they’re just as fun and truly addictive.

Can we have the next one already??

Eryn Scott takes readers back to the town of Button as Lou finds herself in the middle of a mystery again. This time the stakes are even higher as a man is found dead at her best friend Willow's nursery.

This story was fun and engaging as I tried to figure out whodunnit as Lou uncovered clues. Eryn always does a great job keeping me guessing, and this is a fantastic cozy mystery. I liked, too, getting to see more of the citizens of the town, some great literary cat name puns, and Lou's friendship with Willow. I can't recommend this book or series enough!

Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.

Willow and her nursery are ready for the next chapter in her life, along with the rescue cats and a crazy pygmy goat. A dead man in found in her nursery on opening day and she is a prime suspect. The characters are terrific, with great personalities, fun banter, and determination. The storyline has a great pace as they formulate clues and timelines to figure out who is responsible and why. Loved the group around her, both human and animal, the twists of the mystery and revelations. Terrific ending and great addition to this series.

It's opening day for Willow's new greenhouse and plant nursery, but they can't welcome guests because there's a dead body among the tomatoes. It was bad enough that Willow's goat has gone missing, but Lou is determined to help her friend somehow, even if it means dealing with the ever-unpleasant detective Roy. Lou's search for clues takes her all around the scenic town of Button and even to the neighboring town of Brine. Every time Lou thinks she's found a clue, it turns out the killer is one step ahead of her, which isn't great since Lou doesn't want to end up a victim herself!

Once again, we have a delightful twisty tale full of cozy cats and warm friendships. Always a pleasure.

If you enjoy a truly diabolical cozey mystery with murder you've reached the right place. Eryn Scott has written an intense cozey mystery of betrayal, hidden agendas and murder, but that's not all because old friends learn to make new friends putting old biases to the side. The array of characters are vibrant, colorful, quirky and with two schemers plans that could lead to the ruination of a lifetime of dreams. While the array of characters will draw you in at first the intrigue of an untimely murder and a stolen loved four legged pet will definitely entice you further with an unlikely group of friends racing to find out who is responsible for the two crimes, the well developed plot takes you from one small town to another to help gather growing clues and new friendships blossoming from investigating suspects will have you turning page after page in anticipation until you've reached the unexpected and climatic conclusion .Acquire " A Whisker of Danger " so you yourself can enjoy this delightful cozey mystery with a planted murder. Lou's best friend Willow is about to open her nursery but when they were finding Willow's missing goat the found a dead body in her nursery and worst yesterday she had a fight with the dead person and Lou is set on the quest to prove Willow's innocence. Lou and Easton believe that she is innocent however, Roy doesn't believe it as usual. I kind of like and don't like him at the same time. At times he listens and at times he is quick to judge.

So, with the help of George with her genius at computers, Lou and Willow set off to find out who is responsible of the murder that occur in Willow's nursery. While investigating the case, there was a woman who is trying to break her and Easton up. Felt bad for Roy seriously (read to find out). They were a lot of twist and turn in this investigation to find out who the murderer is. Can't spoil much about it you will have to read to find out. And not to forget a cat who is just adorable and loves to cuddle and surprise people.

Can't wait to read the next book.

You can purchase this on Amazon and it's available in KU.

I really enjoy reading this cozy mystery series set in a small town of Button with Lou, a widow who moved there to open Whiskers and Words (a book shop with cats who need homing living there) and Georgia, her best friend since school who has almost fulfilled her dream of opening a nursery. Georgia is dating one of the Detectives in the town.

The morning of the opening, Georgia arrives to find a dead body in one of the plant sections, that someone was from the Department of Horticulture who she had a disagreement with. When she is deemed the main suspect, her boyfriend can't run the case, so his colleague takes over, who has a dislike for both Lou and Georgia, so Lou works with Georgia to clear her name.

The books are all standalone mysteries but they are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.

Another fun romp in Button! This is the second book I binged on this day in this series. We've moved to spring and it's time for Willow to open her nursery - her lifelong dream of having her own nursery to sell the plants she grows with such love. And of course Lou is right there with her to celebrate her best friend's big day.

And as usual in Button, things don't go to plan when the women discover a dead body among the succulents and Willow becomes the prime suspect in the murder, and Lou is determined to help figure out what happened and clear her friend's name, despite the warning of Detective Roy Anderson.

I love the development of relationships throughout these books - unfortunately, I don't want to say more because the fun is seeing it happen so I don't want to give any spoilers!

I am loving this series! It just continues to get better. Willow is finally embarking upon her lifelong dream of owning a nursery and it's almost time for her grand opening when things take a turn. I won't say more about the premise other than this mystery had a lot of twists and turns. You're not sacrificing a good story line in this cozy book. Sometimes cozy mysteries have a pretty clear ending and you know who the culprit is early on. Not this book. I really had to think through the clues and read further to find enough clues to piece it together. I love it! It's like I get to solve the case with Lou.
Button is a cute town and I love coming back here to solve mysteries with the wonderful cast of characters in this series. Lou and Willow have such a great friendship. I love all the animals too!

A Whisker of Danger is book 6 in A Whiskers and Words Mystery by Eryn Scott. This cozy series is so enjoyable. The author has written terrific characters that grow relationships naturally through each book. Eryn Scott writes each book with core characters that I love and new characters that that bring a freshness to each story she tells. In A Whisker of Danger, Willow is finally opening her nursery. Unfortunately, someone was murdered in her nursery. Plus, if things weren't bad enough, Steve, the pygmy goat, is missing! Lou, Willow and Easton are out to discover who done the murder! I thought the ending was perfect and I can't wait to read book 7, Purrarnid Scheme. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.

A missing goat, a toxic plant and a dead guy in the bushes…

It’s opening day for Willow’s nursery yet instead of excitement and happiness she gets stress and worry. First her pet goat Steve goes missing/is goatnapped and then when she Lou and her parents head to open the nursery for business they find the lock cut and a dead man in the midst of the plants. When it turns out he’s the agricultural inspector that Willow recently had an argument with everyone is worried. More so when instead of Easton being the detective in charge of the case it turns out to be Roy the gruff and abrupt other detective on the force. Goat missing, dream job in jeopardy and now a prime suspect in a murder can things get worse? Read on to find out how Lou, Willow and friends investigate to find the truth of the matter.
I enjoyed the new perspective of this story. We are out and about more and less focus is on Lou and the bookstore. It’s a great way to get to know Willow more and we get to see a lot more of the cute town of Button. Great plot, absolutely kept me guessing all throughout the book. Excellent twist I did not see coming at all!! Very excited to see more books in this series!.

Light-hearted and witty who done it that keeps you guessing until the end. Several twists and turns and unexpected events happen in the story. Willow is trying to open her new nursery and seems to be having nothing but trouble. Lou is right there to help her best friend and doesn’t spend so much time in the bookstore with the cats but does rescue a cat while she’s helping Willow. George plays a big part in this book and it’s a great mix of mystery solvers. Great mystery. Lots of twists. And Lou gets a giant assist from an unlikely hero. Another amazing addition to a fantastic series.

I really enjoyed reading this plant-based cozy mystery. It kept my attention and had plenty of twists, turns, and red herrings. The characters were interesting, the plot wasn't obvious as it unfolded, and there was Steve. . .what else can you say? I recommend this cozy mystery.

I love this series!

And this book was no exception! A fun read, entertaining from start to finish. I love it when an amateur sleuth is smart. I like to puzzle along and I was able to, but I was wrong about whodunit. I love being wrong when I read a mystery! I read so many, that it takes skill to surprise me. And surprised, I was!

Keeps You Guessing to the End

The residents of the quaint town of Button are lovable and fun to read about. In this book we even get to meet and learn to like some residents of the rival neighboring town of Brine. Learn who kidnapped Steve the goat, and who killed the agriculture auditor making Willow's life difficult. This is a fun and intriguing read.
