Interesting overview of famous mysteries and controversies throughout history. Really only suitable for novice or beginning history buffs as any normal study of history will have covered these subjects already.

This is one of the better National Geographic books I have read. As the title implies, mysteries abound, going way back in history. Recommend to anyone who considers themselves like me, a "recreational history buff".

I really liked this book. There was a bunch of interesting stuff that I didn't know about the naval explorations of China, and some more stuff on Marco Polo, and some about the lost colony of Roanoke Island.

My complaint is that there were some slants the author took which I felt were a little unnecessary. The author made some lame excuses to try and justify the Japanese killing tens of thousands of Japanese Christians when they were kicking the Europeans out of Japan in the 17th and 18th centuries. It made it hard for me to give some of his other commentary as much credibility.

Colorful and interesting book about some of history's better known mysterious events. The only problem I have is that the book sometimes jumps to conclusions (especially with the Kennedy case) that it knows the answers when I've never really found any definative of ANY complete answer.
